LA NUVOLA STRUTTURALE Light, Structure, Space. Propose an idea for a studenthall that should temporarily be built on the campus, during the redevelopment of the HIL building (Actual D-Arch building). The studenthall should be characterised by a strong spatial and structural idea. It should host about 350 students.
Inspired by the suspended Wachsmann’s structures, made out of modular space frame, arises our design. In this growing structure, space for students, assistants and professors is created. The structure is made out of three pillars growing together in the height ; roofs’ and floors’ structure grows out from the pillars. Those three pillars divide the main hall into two parts : a more intimate one to the countryside, and a more open one to the street. The form of this structure reacts to the close surroundings of the buildings : The covered space created in front of the entrance has a diagonal relation with the HIL building. This relation is through the position of the three pillars highlightend. A bigger cantilever on the opposite side opens the building to the countryside and the city. Through sliding doors, The hall on the ground floor can be completely opened to the outside, creating a fusion between Inside and outside space. The programm is divided on 5 different levels. On the groundfloor the main hall for exposition and critics, and on the several upper floors space for students and assitants is created. Storage room aswell as toilets are hidden in the structural pillars, there you can completely experience the structure. The studenthall should be experienced and lived as a social, accessible and walkable structure.

Final Node Mock-Up 1:1
Node 2
For this project we did also have the task to develope a one to one construction detail. Discussing with the contractors we finally developed the final node that you can see represented here above. The node process represented on the right, was a long process of discussion with contractors and engeneer. Node 1: The form was inspired from the tetraeder space frame we had in the structure. But it was not following the force flux, and the center of the node looked really agressive. Node 2, the weld node: The center of the node was lost aswell as the fast assembly concept on the building site. Node 3: The node was thought in a too precise way in order to be built out of steel. But the idea of the center of the node as beeing an object was back.

THE STORY OF THE BRIDGING ROOF IN BOGOTA
THE BRIDGING ROOF Propose a prototypical intervention for a square in Bogotà. Analyse the site, understand it and show in a diagrammatic way your research and intervention.
Site : Plazoleta de los Martires, Bogotà Till a couple years ago the old city of Bogotà was feared from most of the people of the city, beeing a place controlled by the guerilla, dangerous to go. Bogotà, Colombia in general we could say, is slowly moving away from this idea of depraved and mafia controlled land and is starting slowly to affirm itself as an attractive touristical inviting land. Plazoleta de los Martires and its neighbourhood is one of the main site of interest of the bogotanian government for the revitalisation of the city center. It is located close to La Candelaria, the main old city neighbourhood of Bogotà. In direct relation to the square a military building, the San Victorino Market, a BRT station and The Bronx, which has since a couple of month been evacuated and destroyed. In the Bronx drug deals, sexual violations aswell as tortures would take place. It was the most dangerous and feared place in Bogotà. The Government is planning a new elevated metro, which would devide the square into two parts. I decided to deal with this elevated metro situation and declared: The Square is the Station and the Station in the Square. I proposed to create an elevated square, which would not only drastically change the identity and image of the square but would also create a duality of space, creating an open space and a covered space. The metro should not be perceived as a division of the city but should be used to bring people from different parts of the city together.

Develope an urban project in the neighbourhood of Schwamendingen, on the actual site of the Stettbach school. Start from the volume, afterwards develope the structure and finally the fassade aswell as the program. Volumes/Urbanism : I decided to develope the site with two volumes in a way to create two public squares. One towards the street delimited by two new buildings and the actual gym building, and one towards the hill, more isolated and protected from the Schwamendingen traffic street (See Pictures next page). The square towards the street is organised as stair ramp, giving the accessibility to the site also to disabled people. Structures : The structure works in both volumes in a similar way : two U-Form Chores, slightly moved to the north bounded with each other through big beams that are expanded till the Fassade support the whole structure. The pillar/beam construction at the fassade level is there to give more stability to the whole system. Fassade : The fassade follows the structure. The horizontal beams should highlighten the horizontality of the buildings and bring them in communication with the neighbouring gym building. Those horizontal beam get in the height more narrow, in order to give more lightness to the building. (See picture next page) Programm : The Programm is flexible. As I organised the rooms I imagined those buildings beeing a school. But because the seperating walls to not have any supportive function, the space around the U-Chores can be organised in a complete free way. This flexibility of use of the building seemed to me an important necessity for a building development in the fast changing neighbourhood of Schwamendingen GSEducationalVersion

Entrance Hall
Different light atmosphere characterise the walk through the building. You first enter in a hall imbued with light, and then you can choose: 1. Walk through the foyer which is illuminated by an inner courtyard, in order to then arrive to the biggest room of the building which is placed two levels underground and illuminated by a big side bandwindow (bottom right).
2. Go to the upper levels and find yourself lost in corridors, where you could recognize the end illuminated by natural light. (top right)

DAS VERTRAUTE
„Choose a familiar place, analyse it and recognize its spatial qualities. Afterwards restructure this place in order to underline the spatial qualities you observed.“
For this task we decided to work on a piece of forest situated close to my house in Zürich (-> Schwandenholz 8052 Zürich). We started measuring the trees and drew a plan of the zone we delimited. It was an artificially planted forest, so there was a recognizable order between the trees. Through the different thickness of the trees‘ trunks different lights effects were created in this space: where the trunks were thiner there was more light coming in and vice versa. We saw in this light effect phenomenon qualities which could be improved. Looking at the space in a more abstract way, we understood the space as a conventional room, composed from a floor (leaves and earth), pillars (Three trunks) and a roof (tree’s branches). We didn’t wanted to destroy any pillar. We wanted to demonstrate that threw the elevation and the lowering of a floor the light in the space and the space itself could be perceived in a completely different way.

DAS IDEAL
„Which term would you define an IDEAL ? Choose your Ideal, read about it in order to understand why you perceive this term as an IDEAL. Represent your Ideal in an abstracted way and develope out of it and architectural project.“
My Ideal is Rock. As a child I would always jump and play in the rocks of South Italy. I was fascinated from those forms, which were never the same and could always be interpreted differently. Those forms that were created through the force of water; year after year, water splashing against them would have took pieces away from them and slowly transformed their appearance. This uncontrollable force, this constant change, the creation of those new forms/spaces was my Ideal, EROSION. My project for this task was a concert hall. The uncontrollable force was the human beeing which through its jumps, weight, contact with the space would tranform it. For this to be possible I invented a material which was a mixture of sand and glue, as you touch it grains of sand fall away. (see next page)

Archstorming Mosul Competition W17, reflecting on war refugee camps. We proposed a tent organisation. This tent at the end of the living in the camp can be converted into a kite. In that way all the sufferings and bad memories of that time would fly away in the sky. A Manifesto, a message of hope, seeing someday the end of those conflicts in Syria. Groupwork with Albulena Rrudhani, Erik Fichter and Lowis Guyer TopRight: 120 hours Competition 2017. We were asked, to propose a solution for a low cost library and mensa in China. We developed a fourniture that could be used for both. You could imagine to stack the fourniture on each other and create interesting spaces. So it wouldn‘t just be a library and a mensa, but also a playground, where children can hike, hide and have fun. Groupwork with Erik Fichter and Lowis Guyer Bottom Right: Sketchparty with Nina Rohrer
