We’ve planned a thrilling series of concerts to showcase our talented orchestra as well as a stellar line up of guest artists including pianists Angela Cheng and Simone Dinnerstein, violinist Vadim Gluzman, flutist Kimberly Valerio, and mezzo-soprano Kelley O’Connor.

As you know, this year marks the centenary of the beginning of World War I, and we chose an intriguing theme for the concert season. Under the banner Music of the Great War, each Lexus Classic Series program will include at least one work that was created during the years 1914 - 1918. The music of this period will give us Simone Dinnerstein great insight into the society of that time and will help us understand how major composers integrated the world events into their creative process—a fascinating journey! You will have a chance to be enlightened by the symphonic works of early 20th century composers such as Ravel, Elgar, and Sibelius, next to classics by Händel, Beethoven, Schumann, and Strauss. To celebrate the holiday season, we will be up for a double treat with twin vocalists Will and Anthony Nunziata for A Broadway Holiday, featuring holiday classics with a special Broadway twist. And for the younger ones, we will have a wonderful family program featuring The Story of Babar which leads to the wedding and coronation of King Babar and Queen Celeste. Will and Anthony Nunziata I urge you not to miss any of our performances! If you have not yet done so, subscribe now and reserve your tickets for this extraordinary concert season. I look forward to seeing you in your new seats and reveling in the magical sounds of your orchestra throughout this whole season.

Musically yours,

José-Luis Novo Music Director The Philip Richebourg Chair 3

Youth Education Music education programs from the ASO start at the early elementary level with Education Concerts at Maryland Hall for more than 2,600 second graders annually. After that introduction to the live concert experience, the Music Van brings musicians to visit second and third-grade classes for a hands-on introduction to orchestra instruments. Music students from third grade through high school take part in the year-long Adopt-a-School program, in which ASO musicians provide coaching and encouragement. The program culminates with the annual Side-By-Side Concert at Maryland Hall on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 6:00PM. It’s free, open to the public, and extremely inspirational.

Music Heals Throughout the year, ASO musicians visit area senior and hospice centers, supporting our community’s health by sharing the restorative power of music. Additionally, the Ticket to Health program offers complimentary tickets to Hospice of the Chesapeake caregivers and members of the Wellness House in Annapolis. 8
