U-M Cognition & Aging Lab

sites.lsa.umich.edu/clustig-lab • clustig@umich.edu 530 E. Hall, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

They say the eyes are the windows to your soul, but could they also tell us something about the mind? The U-M Cognition & Aging Lab, led by Dr. Cindy Lustig, is looking at how young and older adults respond to cognitive challenges, as well as incentives to overcome those challenges. Young and older adults seem to respond differently to monetary incentives to perform well in challenging cognitive tasks. Pupils usually get bigger when we are putting in a lot of attention and effort, so the lab will measure pupil size as well as behavior and self-reported motivation under different conditions. If you are 60+, generally healthy, and do not have medical conditions or take medications that could affect your pupil size, they would love your help!
