in the historical centre of carpi, italy, stands the former “supercinema 70”, strongly damaged by an earthquake in 2012. since we were asked to redevelop this abandoned area, my partner and i decided to project a new building, almost tracing the shape of the existing one, in which dwell offices and luxury apartments. the “intermediate place” we created with the central spine that contains all the vertical connections of the two functions, like pipes, structural loads and cores, keeps the two functions divided. the idea of giving each function some private green space, within a very deep and tall building, is translated into a courtyard for each apartment and a stripe-shaped garden from the moving back of the northern facade for the offices.

the transformational learning environment replaces two existing schools and accommodates 1500 pupils aged 11–16 and a further 150 pupils post-16 as well as facilities with the local community. south-facing social spaces which spill outdoors are orientated towards the inspirational views across the yorkshire landscape. designed around a central, flexible “heart space”, shafton alc includes theatres, drama studios and sport spaces. teaching spaces are completely flexible and allow rooms to be adapted to suit the requirements of any group with movable partition walls and adaptable furniture.

refurbishment and extension of a summer villa built in the seventies inside a pine groove in roccamare, tuscany. while the exterior aspect of the stone construction was preserved, the interior was completely renewed, though keeping the original roughness of materials.

this residential building, with its 24 apartment typologies, is going to rise up in providencia, a very nice quarter of santiago and will dwell from studio apartments until 120 sqm units. I was in charge of drawing and delivering detail packages.

this project is part of a masterplan named “mediterranean parliament square” developed for placa des las glories in barcelone (spain). by the paraphrase of the alveolar fascination of the architectural description that borges gives about his “library of babel”, which reminds the complex composition of mediterranean cultures, the building, which is a library, develops the idea of a structural fabric as more dense as more it grows vertically; through the staggering of the slim pillars at the ground floor, the structural span is halved at the specific reading floors, where, from a series of parallel beams, partitions hang down, articulating paths between rows of books. the fabric founds its weave in the 90° rotation of structure each floor and reading rooms stand in the cross of these two directions. patios and spiral staircases help to connect more the floors each other, recomposing the puzzle of mediterranean cultural aspects. the brick facade recalls the expression of the most libraries in the city and the corten cladded windows and overhanging parts lightens the perception of volume as well as the irregular movement of holes in facade.

inside one of the richest quarters of las condes in santiago de chile, this private house dwells a family composed by 6 people and so has got several common areas which needed to be arranged and decorated. the whole aspect of furnitures was thought during the development of the building site and therefore when spaces were already defined and could be much better understood and visualized. most of objects are from the most famous italian brands and every single one of them was chosen among several options, attempts and through the use of visualization renderings.

this old 1500 sqm perfume factory was remodeled as workspace for a communication, marketing and design holding. the whole original structure was kept and glazed panels were used as new dividing elements. my contribution to this project started in the construction phase so i had the opportunity to visit the renovation site. the refurbishment was completed in march 2015.
