Intro s Sundays are meant for relaxing and rejuvenating. Fashion is inching towards leisure-wear all the time instead of just in the house, almost as if it were Sunday everyday. Comfortable clothing allows for ranges of activities throughout the day and eliminates the need to change outfits. Keeping people comfortable in what they are wearing all day keeps them happy and focused on the present. Work life is less stressful with the implimentation of less strict dress codes and the fashion world will capitalize on this becoming more common and accepted.

Autumn / Winter 2020 will progress the ideas of proud-femininity, leisurewear, and sustainability. The idealogy of our time drives these fashion forces. Feminism makes women feel free to choose to wear girly or masculine silhouettes producing a major trend in lingerie-inspired silk and lace garments as well as unisex suits and athleisure attire. Sustainability continues to grow in importance with the wealth of knowledge we have about garment production. Sustainable products are becoming easier to come by and many designers are adopting better practices. The growing selection makes it a widely accepted trend by 2020. Ease and comfortability influence fashion heavily and create the desire for easy outfits, soft fabrics, and easy on-the-go accessories.

Professional Athliesure
Within the wave towards comfortability lies the specific trends of sustainable clothing, sleep-wear inspired styles, and professional athleisure. All of which are seen making their way onto runways and into our everyday life. The popularity of relaxed clothing comes from a lack in the market because until recently, functional has not been particularly stylish.

Sustainability is about creating to last. How what is made can not harm anyone or anything at the time of creation and remain non-detrimental. This movement towards a better way of doing things has been in motion for a while but it gains momentum as we pay more attention to business’ practices and have more choice. Technology allows us to gain so much more knowledge than ever before. We know how bussiness affects not only the planet but humans all over the world. Good business practice is crucial in this age of information and there are many brands taking moral high-ground enabling consumers to make more ethical choices. From high-end designers such as Stella McCartney to more affordable brands such as Reformation and Story MFG. This trend is based on high standards, and low maintenance. 1. Story MFG 2. Soft elegance shows in light silky fabrics, delicate embellishments, and an overall reference to lingerie and bedroom loungewear. Lingerie has influenced fashion for a long time but this trend is less of a reference and more of a very literal use of lingerie now. Silk nightgowns and pajama sets are accepted as everyday public fashion. Sheer qualities are key, and inspire layering. Colors remain in the pastel range that is common to lingerie and sleepwear with slight movement to darker and muted tones. 1. Shop Nanin 2. Samantha Totty 3. Jordan Shpherd by Akama Paul 4. This trend emphasizes soft and girly. Fabrics that drape and fall nicely on the body. Soft and fluffy fur like the Ugg Fluff Momma Slippers are not just for inside the house anymore. Showing skin and taking risk is encouraged. Nudes and pastels are great for this ultra-femme trend. 1. Into the Gloss 2. Once Wed 3. Marc Jacobs Hi-Shine Nail Laquer 4. Active-influenced details become sophisticated as designers find ways to incorporate comfortability into everyday professional wear. Athleisure has taken over all corners of fashion because of the cultural shift away from inconvenience for the sake of fashion. As a whole, our younger generations are okay-ing this shift in the professional environment. Fabrics, fits, and accessories become less cumbersome to allow for the focus to be on what we are doing rather than what we are wearing. An earthy, natural palette with muted shades of greens, purples, and oranges works well for casual professional wear. 1. Jonathon Simkhai Pre-Fall 2018 2. Makeup Artist @Aniamilczarczyk 3.
