Store Design Concept
Intro Thrifty Hippie Company is a sustainability based brand founded to lessen the harm caused by the fashion industry. It focuses on vintage and upcycled clothing. It is a fun-loving bohemian concept.
The goal is to be a part of the shift fashion must take towards ethical practices. Ethical encompasses a lot from how we treat other people to how we treat the earth. Right now, fashion takes way too much of a toll on ethics. There is a way it can be done right, and part of that is the “re-use” facet of the saying “reduce, re-use, recycle.” Vintage and upcycling use this idealogy to not add to the harm being done by the industry.
The ages intended for Thrifty Hippie are the generations desiring experiential shopping and activity. Bar-store hybrids are few and far between at the moment, but a very highly accepted concept. This mix works together because of the consumer psychographics and general activities enjoyed by the young adult of our time. A fun spot to hangout, mixed with a place to boost up your fashion, all while sipping a glass of wine is a very enticing notion. California has legalized weed as well, and I see this idea eventually moving into a dispensary-store hybrid as well, playing into the hippie mood and abbreviation of the store name.
The Funk Zone in Santa Barbara is a suitable fit for the proposition because of the Santa Barbara customer who has high spending capabilities and a love for wine, shopping, and fun.

Traffic Pattern
It is proven that a very high percentage of customers naturally go to the right when visiting a store. I assume the same will be common with this layout. A difference that must be factored in is that the door is very far over to the left of the front wall. When the customer walks in, he or she sees a wall display on the center-left and a table display to the right. These two will compete for the attention of the customer and ultimately decide the direction. These are the most important tables and must always be the highest merchandising concern.
The table display is larger and more elevated so there is a higher probabilityy of the customer walking to the table, then displays on the right wall near the cash wrap. The next area to visit would be the center of the room display tables then eventually the back clothing racks and the back left clothing display. Window w Bar & seating
This is all considering the customer was only shopping for clothing. The other option is visiting mainly for the bar. In this case, the customer may casually browse as they find their way to the bar in the back. The bar is strategically placed in the back so that even if people come just for the wine, the lower mark-up item, they pass by and may be interested in the clothing. As these wine-drinkers drink, they may decide to sit and socialize or they may browse the store. So, lastly, customers may start in the back and work their way forward if the back keeps their interest. Thus, all areas become “hot spots.
