The Bestsellers Edit
is celebrating 10 years! We can’t believe it either. Since the beginning, our journey has been supported by so many amazingly talented people. We are so grateful. From friends and family, to our buyers, collaborators, editors, bloggers, graphic designers, photographers and stylists. We couldn’t have become the brand we are today without each and every one of you. We are looking forward to the future with continued and new partnerships filled with creativity and the love of making everyday luxury. To commemorate our anniversary we’ve put together our Best Sellers Edit. We’ve singled out the favored pieces from our tabletop collections in their most popular color way.
OUR STORY…ten years in the making With a commitment to craftsmanship and high-quality materials, husband-and-wife team Daniel Oates and Dana Brandwein create handmade modern heirlooms from their rural Connecticut studios. After two decades in the music business, working with artists including AC/DC, Metallica, and Björk, Dana made a career change to pursue her passion for design. Daniel, an acclaimed sculptor represented by 303 Gallery and well known in the ‘90s New York City art scene for his handcrafted sculptures, also decided to change direction. Together they became the creative partners of DBO HOME. Today, they design and make a full line of homewares, including dinnerware, serveware, accents, lighting, and custom furniture, that celebrates the tactile and aesthetic pleasures that come from filling your home with things that cultivate a sense of wellbeing. Their handcrafted goods are both made to last and enjoy every day. Everything bearing the DBO HOME name is made by hand with natural materials that feel as good as they look. The creative process happens around the kitchen table, where Dana and Daniel hash out everything from form to dimensions to process. Ceramics are created in Dana’s studio, where they start by being rolled, cut, and hand formed, or poured and hand finished. All pieces are sanded to ensure the perfect touch, then bisque-fired, glazed, and fired again. In the wood shop, Daniel’s process is much more freeform. Plans are discarded in favor of focusing on the natural shape
of the wood, allowing Daniel’s background in sculpture, combined with traditional woodworking techniques, to take the wheel. In both studios, DBO HOME embraces the perfectly imperfect variations that subtly reveal the artist’s hand and make each piece truly one-of-a-kind. DBO HOME is proud to bring its distinct handcrafted quality and approachable luxury to collaborations with some of the world’s most renowned chefs, including Dan Barber, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michelle Bernstein, and James Syhabout, as well as inimitable brands like John Robshaw Textiles and West Elm. These collaborations are built upon a strong foundation of a like-minded aesthetic that is enhanced by each unique perspective involved. DBO HOME is honored to have been featured by such respected publications as Gourmet, Food & Wine, Martha Stewart Living, Elle Décor, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The London Financial Times, and more. It is DBO HOME's mission to never stop creating uncommon, inspired products. Whether it’s a statement dining table or a porcelain cereal bowl, Dana and Daniel believe you should surround yourself with things you love and objects that make you feel good. DBO HOME's artisanal tableware, lighting, and furniture bring everyday luxury to the modern home.

HONEYCOMB classic & iconic
Our signature Honeycomb collection comes straight from the hive, literally. Our neighbor, the bee-keeping farmer of Meili Farm, offered us a beehive starter thinking it might be a great texture – she was right. A subtle, true honeycomb pattern covers each piece.

KASHMIR bold & feminine
Inspired by our love of vintage dinnerware and a gift of Indian wood printing blocks, this collection evokes the feeling of being used and loved for years while maintaining our modern aesthetic. We purposefully imprint and glaze each piece to look slightly worn. The epitome of everyday glamor.

BATTUTO elegant & geometric
Battuto– the Italian word for “beaten” best describes how we made the faceted shape of this popular collection. We pounded the clay into shape to create each original prototype. Cast in porcelain you can see and feel the hand that formed it.

BIRCH neutral & refined
Inspired by the birch trees outside the studio. We’ve rolled pieces of birch bark into the clay to create a fantastic texture that is surprisingly neutral but never boring. The other faux bois.

BURL masculine & natural
Our classic Burl pattern has been a mainstay in our collection since we launched in 2007. We roll a wood grain texture into the clay and glaze in our monochrome palette. It’s farmhouse meets loft. It never goes out of style.

INSTANT KARMA artful & fun
With this abstract collection we summon our inner Jackson Pollock and keep the positive energy flowing to get the glaze just right. You know in an instant if you’ve succeeded. That’s the fun in these one of a kind pieces. We hand cut and form each porcelain shape –then let the glaze pour into perfectly imperfect drips. 25

REMO tactile & modern The Remo Collection was inspired by Daniel’s boat building (specifically the leather detail of his wooden oars) and our love of combining cool porcelain with with the warmth of leather. “Remo”, by the way, is Italian for “oar”– because everything just sounds better in Italian.
