CUSTOM COLLECTION PEARL RIVER PROJECT
EL ANATSUI
“I think I use broken pieces because of my eclectic life history. You know, it’s not one homogenous kind of progression, it’s been in bits and pieces---not growing up in my own nuclear family, and not even living in my county, and finally, now, traveling all over the place. I think it’s an attempt to put all this together.”
Vic Muniz
Muniz’s work being labor-intensive and meticulous, reflects masterpieces or legendary photographs from news magazines with a wide range of unique materials. After creating his replicas with powdered materials such as dust, garbage or foods like sugar, chocolate and caviar, he photographs them and then destroys them so that they only exist as photographs.
Skylar Fein
-incorporates found materials such as comic book imagery and items gathered off the streets of New Orleans -often pays tribute to forms of non violent resistance including punk music and graffiti -Fein first gained acclaim at the inaugural Prospect New Orleans Biennial in 2008 with his instillation Remember the Upstairs Lounge, a multimedia piece about a fatal 1973 fire that killed thirty-two and injured dozens

Wylie Garcia
Originally from Vermont, now residing in South Louisiana, Wylie‘s work is influenced by the rich surfaces of historic American textile design. Ingrained with her signature staccato mark making, the recent ink drawings are a continuation of the artist’s preoccupation with concepts of place, time, and feminine materiality.
