Fashion with NAES12 >>>
The Class with Class As you all may know, the most fashionable class at SÄG is obviously NAES12. The pupils’ choice of clothing and accessories, the application of design and aesthetics, and just the natural loveliness is simply amazing. In order to be as good-looking as possible I decided to visit the clean-limbed class to try to figure out the secret of their beauty, and of course share it with you, readers. So, get ready for some tips for how to look like a hot mess with NAES12!
FIX YOUR HAIR AS THEY DID! The NAES pupils are really creative, and have many different haircolours and hairdoes; everything from messy buns to tidy fish braids. Take a look at their hairstyles and get inspired.
SHOES, OH SHOES! What is fashion without shoes? Let’s take a look on what our trendy teenagers were on their feet:
Converse Converse – the one and only. A savior item that can be used to almost every outfit, a shoe that never will give any blisters, and will be your very best companion until their last day. And now comes the tricky part – you will have to wait ages before you throw them away, because converse are like a very good wine, that only gets better for every year that passes.
In order to create a rock look you could overlay burgundy, knitted knee stockings over nylon pantyhose. The model is wearing the special designed black leather converse. She is mixing a girly stylishness with the grunge style. TIPS: Tie your shoelaces in a different way to make your outfit more interesting and fun!
As you can see the white converses are a perfect match for the light blue denim jeans. Converse: 699 kr
MAKEUP Eyliner >>> This is a popular makeup article, which many girls use. In this class the eyeliner comes in many different shapes and textures. Eyeliner can give depth to your eye or make your eyes look bigger – it depends on how you use it!
Create this look by using soft dark brown crayon eyeliner on your lid, near your eyelashes, and smudge it with a smudger or you can as well use your fingers - a classy look that you easily can recreate. SMUGED EYELINER
WINGED EYELINER Use liquid black eyeliner or a gel liner to make this winged eyeliner makeup. This eye look is a little bit tricky to do, but look at some makeup tutorials on YouTube and practice!
Dr. Martens
boots
These shoes are pretty heavy, thick and stiff at the beginning, so you have to break them in. When they have shaped after your feet, they will fit absolutely perfect. The shoe design has almost not changed since 1945 – when the germen doctor Klaus Märtens intended them for his injured ankle during World War II.
You can find Dr. Martens in many different colors. Here you can see how the model is rocking out these blue docs with some black skinny jeans. Dr. Martens: 1 399 kr.
Accessories A few girls and boys got a body modification in NAES12, most of the girls have their earlobes pierced, and some got piercings on other places of their bodies, which means a big variation of different pieces jewelry.
The slogan from NAES is “dare to wear” use the things you want to wear, and don´t be afraid of others´ opinions!
Some tips to wear accessories are to match them with the rest of the outfit. Look at the style and colors on the rest of your clothes and choose some corresponding jewels.
A passion for baking When we had just turned twenty-five our grandmother had a heart attack and left our world. It’s hard to describe how much it still hurts. She had such a big heart and she made us laugh all the time. She was not only a good grandmother, but also a great teacher. She had a passion for baking and wanted us to have the same passion. Every time we visited her she would let us bake. We never baked the same things twice, she would always teach us something new. We’re still grateful for everything she did for us, but it was too early for her to die. She could have had so many more great times in the kitchen. When our grandmother grew up she lived in the countryside. They had a small farm in west Warrington. Her mother died early from cancer and her father needed to work very hard. Our grandmother was the oldest child, she always had to take care of her brothers and sisters. And when she wasn’t babysitting she needed to help out in the stable or pigsty. There weren’t much time for anything else. When she finally grew up she could move to the city. When she came to the city she started baking. Baking was her way to relax and having fun, and she learned everything by herself. When she baked with us for the first time it was two days before Christmas and she said; “Now kids, we are going to bake!” We were 5 years old and wanted to join the older kids and maybe help them out, but they didn’t want us there.
Then Grandma told us to follow her, we went down in the basement and started making our own pastry. The first thing we baked was meringues. We did purple, pink, blue and green one. They were so fabulous and sweet. The coolest thing we did that evening was when grandma told us to hold the bowl over our heads. First we didn’t want to, because thought we would get the mixture in our hair and there wouldn’t be any meringues left for us to bake. But she insisted and finally we did it. And the craziest thing happened, the mixture of eggs and sugar just stayed in the bowl. Like it was made of cement. We looked surprised at each other and grandma laughed as much as she was able to. We learned that meringues is pretty easy to make, and also very tasty. 1. Put the oven on 266 F. 2. Mix egg whites and sugar over a boiling water bath. When the mixture becomes hot, you remove it from the water bath. 2. Start whipping the eggs and sugar with an electric mixer. Continue until the mixture is cool and you can put the bowl upside down without any mixture being spilled out. If you like color on the meringues you can pour in caramel color in the mixture. 4. Pipe the mixture on a sheet and put it into the oven. Take it out after about 60-90 minutes. Make sure that you keep an eye on them.
When we were done with the meringues we started making saffron buns. They turned very yellow, because of the spice saffron. Saffron smells incredibly good and even greater when it’s Christmas. While we baked, we listened to Christmas carols and sang along. In the saffron buns we put raisins, but we ate up many of them while baking.
1. Melt the butter and then add milk. Warm until the liquid is 98.6 F. 2. Mix the liquid with crumbled yeast. Mix it until it’s dissolved. Add the egg, saffron, sugar and salt. 3. Work the dough with some of the flour until it loses up on the edges. Cover it with a baking towel and let it rest during 20-30 minutes. 4. When you have made your buns you let them rest for 20-30 minutes. Meanwhile, put the oven on 437 F. Don’t forget to brush the buns with whipped eggs and garnish with raisins before you put them in the oven. The buns will be in the oven for about 8-10 minutes. Then they’re ready to be eaten!
On our 10th birthday we didn’t get a birthday cake, instead grandma told us to put a blindfold on. Then she made us go into the car and she started driving. She drove for about 15 minutes. Suddenly she stopped and helped us out. We didn’t know where she had taken us, since we still were blindfolded. When we finally were there, she took the blindfold off. We faced a big room with all kinds of sweetness you could ever imagine. She told us to bake our own birthday cake. We baked for several hours and grandma joined us and helped us.
1. Mix eggs and sugar. Add flour, baking powder, vanilla sugar and mix it again. Then put the milk and the melted butter in the mixture. Start whipping with an electric mixer during approximately 2 minutes. Pour the mixture into a baking tin. 2. Put the baking tin in the oven on 347 F for 45-50 minutes. Once the cake is ready, divide it into 2 layers. Garnish the first layer and put the other layer on top of it. Continue with the rest of the cake. You can for example garnish with cream, custard, bananas, kiwi jams, candy etc. Once you're happy with the garnish, the cake is finished.
We have made lots of different baking during the years. Sometimes it was hard, like the time we made fluffy Danish pastry. We had to start all over again several times, but finally they became nice and grandma was happy with us. We also learned making simple things like cupcakes, it’s nice to sometimes do simple but tasty things. 1. Put the oven on 437 F. Place the muffin cups on a sheet. 2. Melt the butter. Whip eggs and sugar puffy. Add the milk and butter in the mixture. 3. Mix flour and baking powder and then add it to the mixture. 4. Spread the mixture in the muffin cups. Put the sheet into the oven and set a timer on 20 minutes for big and beautiful cupcakes. 5. Let the cupcakes cool and later on you can decorate them. One summer when we just had graduated high school we spent some days with grandma in her summer house. It was one of the warmest summers in a long time and we were really craving for ice cream, but the store was at least 9 km away. As always our grandmother had a great idea. “We can make our own ice cream, she said.” And we did. We went out in the garden and gather raspberries from the bushes. Then we started making raspberry ice cream. 1. Whip the cream. 2. Add the egg yolks and icing sugar and whip the mixture for 2-3 minutes. Add raspberry and carefully mix it with a spatula. 3. Place the mixture in a bowl and put it in the freezer. Once or twice the first 4 hours take the bowl out and mix it. 4. It takes about 4 hours or sometimes longer until the ice cream is perfect. Then it’s good to eat. As you can see, we baked almost every time we met her and that’s why we have this amazing talent today. She is our role model and she taught us everything she knew. This is just a few wonderful stories from our childhood, but there are tons of stories left to tell. Our dream is to make a book about baking in memory of our incredible grandma. The book will bring up all the wonderful baking memories with our grandmother, but we will also share lot of delicious recipes.

Embark the Great Boat of Rock I’ve watched this boiling 60’s comedy by Richard Curtis, the director of films like “Notting Hill” and “Love Actually”, and a better movie with more hilarious characters, better music and with a poorer perception of women is hard to find. You get to follow Carl (Tom Sturridge), a 17-year-old-boy who has just been expelled from school and is therefore now sent to his godfather Quentin (Bill Nighy), for some environmental changes, a decision made by Carl‟s fancy and glamorous mother (Emma Thompson). But Quentin proves to be the boss of the pirate radio station “Radio Rock”, sending live from a boat anchored in the North Sea with a crew consisting of some various aged, wild and life-living “DJ‟s” and staff members. “Radio Rock” has reached a massive popularity in Britain and makes ordinary people gather like crazy around their retro radios for the music that BBC and the other ordinary stations never played. But is this controversial rock „n‟rolllifestyle really a good place for our virgin Carl? Is he perhaps sent there for another reason? And will the grey and conservative government minister, Sir Alistair Dormandy‟s (Kenneth Branagh) dream of stopping this foolish pirate radio station come true? The tribute to the rocking 60‟s music and the Pirate radio heroes from the same era is obvious, and I think they succeeded with that in a very comical and easy-going way,
The Boat that Rocked Directed by: Richard Curtis Release date: 17 April, 2009 (Sweden) Country: United Kingdom Distributed by: Universal Pictures, Focus Features Length: 130 min. Recommended minimum age: 7 years (Sweden)
which I love. It‟s when you watch a movie like this one that you wish you were born earlier. It seems thrilling to listen to “forbidden” music at bed time without your parents‟ notice. So I guess it‟s also quite obvious that I like this movie. The weird and very spontaneous humor is really my cup of tea. You also really come to love all these different characters like the leading and very American “The Count”, the mystical Midnight Mark, Thick Kevin whose name seems to be quite unjust and of course Small Hours Bob, who everyone have forgotten is working on the boat. Furthermore, the whole movie is done very beautifully. All the colors, props, clothes and scenery together with the awesome music really give the right retro feeling. At least in my opinion, because what do I as a 90‟s-born-girl really know about the 60‟s?
Anyway, the only bad thing I can come up with is the lack of really interesting female characters. You got Felicity, the only woman allowed on the boat as she is a lesbian cook. These circumstances really indicate to a lot of homosexual romance, but that‟s unfortunately not the case. Instead, a bunch of crazy and good-looking fan girls dressed in cute 60‟s dresses once in a while are shipped to the boat to satisfy the crew‟s sexual drives. It‟s actually quite comical, and the girls seem to have no problem with it, but I have realized now afterwards that it is a bit unfair and of course a pity in an otherwise such a good movie. Women according to this movie seem to only be interesting in good music
and sex, but which everybody of course in real life knows is not true. But I hope to now leave this subject, not because of its unimportance but in prevention of this review turning into a far too captivating text of women pictured in show business and media. I dearly hope everybody is okay with that. So as a conclusion, pick this movie when you want something easy but still amusing to watch. It is especially a good choice if you are lover of old music from this era. Just a few people have heard about it but I really think many more should. Be prepared to laugh and watch The Boat that Rocked. Then watch it again, because it is even funnier the second time. Johanna Petersson West 2013-10-11
Gaming, why so serious? Some people like gaming, some people don´t, some people doesn´t even know what it means and there are those who dedicate their life to gaming. As a gamer I know how frustrating it can be, that the one thing you love the most is on a screen, quite odd actually when you think of it like that, but it has it benefits. For instance, kids who play video games or computer games get better finger skills and puzzle solving skills, you can read this in gaming articles and on the internet, for example in this article I found on the internet, the BBC wrote it: http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20130826-canvideo-games-be-good-for-you/2 . So, why don´t parents let their kids play? The most annoying thing ever must be when they say that it is bad for your brain, that they rather want their kids to watch a movie instead. Why parents, why? There must be something that makes it impossible for them to just google the word ’gaming’ or ‘video games’ and learn
something about it. I don’t say that every game is good for kids to play nor that they should play them all day long, because in a large amount, gaming isn´t good for your health! But in small amounts it is fun, stimulating and good for the brain. It also depends on which game you or the kid is playing, walking around shooting zombies might not be the best alternative for a kid who´s nine, head´s up for the restrictions! This is what a game restriction looks like if you are not familiar with it, you can easily read that it says eighteen, but pay attention to the color, it´s red, why? Because the developers want the restriction to look a lot more dangerous than it actually would have looked. For 16, the sign is yellow, so is it for 12, and for 7 and 3 it is green, just colors that make a big difference. Not so long time ago the restriction signs where all grey, no matter how old you are supposed to be to play. Might not seems like a big deal, but I can assure you that it is. People that don´t realize that game developers actually care about whom play their games, they are, as you can say it, ignorant. Buyers get angry when they find out that their kids are violent in school, fighting other kids. What do they do? They write complaining letters to the company creating the game, but,
they are blaming the wrong person. First of all they should blame themselves for buying brutal games to their own young kids, or if that´s not the case, let´s say that the kid bought the game himself/herself, then it is time to blame the store selling the games, they DO NOT care how old the customers are, they just want the money. Still, people blame developers for creating too violent shooting/fighting games, here is a comparison between a three year old restriction sign and a new one:
You can clearly see that you pay more attention to the right 18 than the left, it is almost invisible to the left. This is a result of too much complaining to the companies about all the young violence, and the awesome thing is that it helps so much more than you can imagine. The gaming world has received so much hatred through the years that it´s insane, more than it deserves. People are too lazy to get some facts of what´s really going on. So please, pay attention to everything, look it up. I´m sure that you will be able to find out much about gaming, even stuff that is bad or unhealthy. But everything is bad or unhealthy if you do it wrong or overdo it, run every single day on the wrong surface and your knees will hurt, just don´t take this about gaming so serious and I´m sure everything will be fine! ‘Drinking doesn´t solve any problems, but then again, neither does milk’ By ViktorKarlsson NAES12
How to behave like a Japanese I n the last years there has been a topic that has become more and more common among young people, Japan. It has especially been a rise of interest in Japanese art in different forms such as drawings, music, film production and fashion in clothes, hair and make-up. Since many have taken an interest in Japan, more tourists want to visit this modern country with its unique history and experience their culture in real life. That’s why I have decided to do some research on how to behave and give some tips so that you won’t make a fool out of yourself while there.
F irst of all you should “watch and learn” how others behave and try to act as they do since it can save you from a lot of trouble. There are some keywords on how to behave in Japan which are politeness, respect, kindness, discretion, orderliness and honor. These words are the guidelines which form the base in all actions performed by a Japanese person. What can be a little bit tricky is that in different parts of the world people comprise various meanings to the same word depending on the parenting and the society they live in. For example, the Japanese think that it is disrespectful if an inferior doesn’t bow to a superior while we who live in western countries would consider that action weird. This makes your visit in Japan more complicated than it would have been otherwise with misunderstandings and unwanted situations but I can ensure you that it will be something worth telling your friends about when you get home, and hopefully a pleasant journey.
respect towards those who are superior to you either in age or rank, it is a good start to use the proper bow. The higher rank they have the deeper you bow and a formal bow usually maintains in 2 to 3 seconds. You bow with a straight back and keep your hands at the sides if you’re a male and clasped in the lap if you’re female. The bow starts at the waist and while bowing you keep your eyes looking down at the ground. Some Japanese are willing to combine a handshake and a bow but if you’re really lucky they skip the bow and do the greeting in western style, a handshake.
At the dining table 1. Before you start eating you should say “Itadakimasu” which literally means “I humbly receive”. It’s a way to express gratitude to those who made the food. 2. Never leave the chopsticks standing up in a bowl of rice or so that they point at someone, the former is done at funerals therefore it is not considered an action that should occur at the dining table and the last-mentioned is considered a symbolic threat to the person it’s being pointed at.
Bowing When you’re about to meet someone for the first time or for the first time in that specific day, you bow. When you’re supposed to show extra
3. Even if you’re close friends with someone and wants to pass food with your chopsticks to
her/him you shouldn’t since this act is also done at funerals and shouldn’t occur at the dining table. 4. Even if you’re full you should eat up every last grain of rice, as it is considered polite. 5. When you have finished a meal you say ”gochisōsama-deshita” which literally means
you’re done. When you are getting ready to leave, you wait until the host has closed the door behind you and then you put on your coat and hat.
“you were a feast” and it’s also a way to express gratitude towards the preparer of the meal.
Honorifics is something that the Japanese use in everyday life and to almost everyone they know. Depending on your relationship and ages you use different honorifics after the person’s name. -sensei is used for doctors, teachers, politicians and lawyers. -sama is used towards superiors from inferiors and is very respectful. As a guest or a costumer you can also receive the title –sama. -chan is primarily used when you speak to people who’re underage and your grandparents. -kun is foremost used when you talk to a male teenager or child, between males and from superiors to inferiors. A female can say –kun to a male who she has feelings for or knows very well. -san is the most common honorific and can be used between almost anyone who doesn’t need to be extra formal.
Getting invited to someone’s home Getting invited to someone’s home is considered an honor thus you should not take it lightly. There are some preparations before entering the home which are that you should bring a gift. Fruit baskets or a whole melon are luxuries, hence I recommend it, and before the house owner opens the door to welcome you, you should take off your coat and hat if you have any.
When upon entering the house you switch from using shoes to slippers, which are provided at the entrance by the house owner. Do not confuse these slippers with the ones used in the bathroom because when you enter a bathroom you switch from the regular ones to the “dirty” slippers since the bathroom is considered filthy and you shouldn’t bring filth into the rest of the house. If you by some unknown reason would take a bath in the house I should warn you for some complicated rules. These rules also apply when you live together with a Japanese person. You use the shower to wash yourself before entering the bathtub but don’t lather yourself while you’re in the bathtub because that action is done in the shower. Washing off the soap should also be done in the shower and avoid any soap accidentally getting into the bathing water since taking a bath is for relaxing and not cleaning yourself. The same bathing water is used for all the family members to relax in, therefore do not drain the bathtub when
Honorifics
Don’t forget to bring! When you use a public toilet or bathroom you might come to realize that you should always keep in hand some toilet paper, a handkerchief (to dry your hands), shampoo, a towel and soap since it isn’t always provided. I hope that this have given you some insight on how to behave like a Japanese and can from now on avoid some of the basic mistakes that western people make. One last tip that could transform you into true Japanese is that when a camera is nearby you make the “V-sign” with your forefinger and middle finger. Good Luck!

How to wash your car Autumn is here, but have no fear! Even though this wet and muddy time of the year can set its traces on your car, you can easily make your car become as clean as when it was new, just by following these easy steps. 1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Start by rinsing your car with a pressure washer. If you don’t have one, try to rinse as much as possible with a hose. Start at the bottom and work to the top, that way the dirt can run down more easily.
Prepare a bucket with water, soap and other cleaning chemicals you want to add. Soak a sponge or a soft cloth in the soapy water to wipe the car with. But this time you should start at the top and work your way to the bottom. Make sure you always rinse the sponge or piece of cloth before you put it back in the bucket. Repeat these steps when you clean the rims.
OPTIONAL: You can spray degreaser on the car before you rinse it. Then you do not need to do step 2-5. Since it will have the same effect as the chemicals used in the previous step. // Andreas Rogne
Now that you’ve got a shiny car on the outside, let’s take a look at the inside. The outside means nothing if the inside is dirty. 1.
Throw all the rubbish you don’t need, like plastic bags or McDonald’s packages.
any unwanted dirt.
2.
Remove all pads, if you have any, and give them a good shake until all the dust has been shaken of. 5.
3.
Then you can start vacuuming the floor and seat. Try vacuuming the hard to reach places as well, like under the chair and such.
4.
You can use a dust pan to remove dust from your front panel in your car. Then use a wet paper cloth to remove
Spray the windows and mirrors with window cleaners. Then wipe it off with a window scraper before you wipe the windows and mirrors again with a paper cloth.
And now your car is clean.

Living on the Edge HAMMARÖ – After a summer of record breaking and almost unbearable heat in Sweden, most parts of the country have seen a drastic drop in temperatures. The cold mornings are now a fact. In addition, we are losing two to three minutes of daylight every single day by late September. Though the darkness is approaching, there are many people out there waiting for the cold to embrace Sweden. Instead of darkness they are welcoming an entire season of light and happiness ahead of them. Who? Well, the figure skaters! Humans have been skating for thousands of years, first using skates made from animal bones and leather straps to get across rivers and lakes in the winter. Nowadays, several sports have established the ice, from hockey to speed skating. However, many people agree that the most beautiful sport of them all is figure skating. All across the world, people tend to be amazed by the various spins and jumps the skaters can accomplish on the ice. Moreover, you get seduced by the lovely music and the sparkling and colorful dresses. In Sweden, the sport of figure skating has experienced a remarkable increase in participation in the last years. The figure skating club of Hammarö is only one of the clubs in Sweden which has grown massively, from only a few skaters to about 80 individuals. One of the active members in the club is Johanna Forsberg, who took her first steps on the ice 10
years ago. Back then, she could not have imagined the impact skating would have on her life as she approached her 18th birthday. “Skating is something I do on a daily basis”, she confirms happily. Like many of the female skaters who compete at the junior level, Johanna enters the skating hall frequently. During the fall season, she skates at least 5 times each week and she also spends a lot of her time doing off-ice activities such as dance classes and longdistance running. Therefore, you can literally say that she is living on the edge!
Wonderful dresses, artistic movements and harmonic melodies. The sport of figure skating is without doubt known for being artistry but according to Johanna, the competitive figure skating “It is a challenging sport today is much less about artistry and much more about since it requires many athleticism. On the ice, the skaters make astonishing different qualities. moves which involves jumps, However, it’s the challenge spins and steps. To perform skills like that, the skaters that makes the sport so have to use a lot of strength. “It is a challenging sport since it fun” requires many different
qualities. However, it’s the challenge that makes the sport so fun claims Johanna. In the moment, she is practicing a jump called double axel which requires the skater to leap rapidly two and a half rotations in the air before landing on the 4 millimeter thick blade. To complete a new jump is hard since neither skating facilities nor skaters are equipped with appropriate protective gear. Therefore, it takes a lot of courage and figure skaters basically just have to go for it if they want to learn a new skill. Consequently, bruises come along with the sport. Yet, Johanna often uses a small pad in her skating apparel to protect her hip during practice. The hard work at the skating rink often pays off throughout competitions, where the skaters have the opportunity to show both audience and judges what they have learned. During competitions, the skaters have to complete a list of required elements in their two programs: short- and free program. Facing a new skating season, Johanna has learned a new free program. She instantly knew that she wanted the music to reflect her cheerful personality. As a result of her wishes, she got a suggestion

for a Johanna wearing her short program costume program set in disco music. Johanna took a listen to the music and fell directly in love with the disco movement that they could use for her choreography. Johanna is now looking forward to the season since she knows she has a strong material heading into the competitions. She plans to kick her season off in Gothenburg at the end of October. Until then, she will continue her life as usual – Living on the edge!

I was only eleven years old when I came across a band of four guys that sang about how a girl had them hypnotised. Little did I know that I would sit six and half years later and be totally hypnotised by the voices, guitar riffs, drum fills and total awesomeness that is McFly’s tenth anniversary concert in the Royal Albert Hall. The concert started off with an introduction video of the four boys in all their goofiness. Thereafter the first song of the evening was played, Saturday night. Pretty suitable due to the fact that it actually was a Saturday night. The songs to follow in the first half of the concert came in order of release, starting with songs from the first album and ending with their newest single, Love is easy. Every once in a while came a new little video, telling the story of McFly from different points of view. It was in 2003 that Tom Fletcher met Danny Jones for the first time. Tom was impressed by Danny’s skills on the guitar and the two sixteen year olds decided to write some songs together. They managed to get a record deal and held an audition to get a drummer and a bassist to their band. That’s how the bassist Dougie Poynter and the drummer Harry Judd became a part of the band that now got to be known as McFly, named by Tom after his favourite character Marty McFly in Back to the future. McFly released their first album in 2004. It is called Room on the third floor, named after the place where most of the songs were written; in a room on the third floor of the

InterContinental Hotel in London. The album hit the top position of the charts and thanks to the fact that Dougie was only sixteen years old at the time, the band broke the Beatles’ record in being the youngest band ever to have a debut album on first place. Except for McFly there are three other persons that do cameos in the concert who have played big roles in the history of McFly. First we have Chris Moyles, who played the song Star Girl every Friday morning in his show on BBC Radio 1 for almost two years. He only appears in a short video where he sends his best to the band and wish for them to sing his favourite song. Then we have two of three members from the old band Busted. Right after the song Love is easy, Busted appears in a video but also on stage right, where they play three songs with McFly; two Busted songs and one McFly song. In the early days McFly went on tour with Busted which gave McFly a lot of new fans. Tom Fletcher’s relationship with Busted goes further back to 2001 when he auditioned to become a part of the new band. He did get in,
but got kicked out after only 24 hours owing to a decision to make Busted a threesome rather than a foursome. Though, Tom did become a part of the song writing team for the band, because he was too talented to let go off. Tom Fletcher says himself that it was thanks to James Bourne, member of Busted and part of the team, that he learned how to construct really good, catchy songs. Their collaboration didn’t stop with Busted, because James Bourne participated in the writing of many of McFly’s first songs too. Busted leaves the stage together with Tom, Dougie, Harry and the background musicians and left is only Danny who plays his solos song Walking in the sun. Tom joins him to sing Not Alone as a duet, and then it’s time for Tom’s solo song. He wrote a song especially for this occasion and is now happy to announce the song McFly the Musical. It’s a song that with a lot of humour tells the story of how McFly was born and why it’s so awesome to be McFly. The next song on the set list is Love is on the radio, a new song from their new album that is yet to be released. McFly has released five
McFly, 2010
albums in the ten years that have passed since the band was born. They have also released four compilation albums of which the first one, Just My Luck, became McFly’s debut album in the US in 2006 after being part of the movie with the same name where Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine played the lead roles. The concert ends with three of the most popular songs of McFly: their first single Five colours in her hair; the song All about you that Tom Fletcher sang for his wife at their wedding dinner and The heart never lies where they changed one line to “but McFly is forever.” “We’re just about as awesome as a pop band can be!” Tom sings in the end of McFly the Musical. But McFly is so much more than a pop band and they are so much more than the songs they play. McFly is love. Love for each other, love for their fans and love for music. That is why McFly is awesome. That is why McFly is forever. Johanna Warnqvist 2013-10-09
HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS.
The Ring (2002) 115 min - Horror | Mystery | Thriller Director: Gore Verbinski Writers: Ehren Kruger (screenplay), Kôji Suzuki (novel), Hiroshi Takahashi (uncredited) Stars actors: Naomi Watts, Martin Henderson, Brian Cox, Daveigh Chase. There is a tape, and no one knows where it comes from. And everyone who watches the tape will die in 7 days. After watching it you get the call. A little girl is on the line and all she says is “you’ll die... In seven days”. So then you wait, and there is nothing you can do to stop what will happen to you. Review: Rachel’s (Naomi Watts) niece Katie (Amber Tamblyn) suddenly dies by her heart stopping and Katie’s friend is sent to a mental hospital, and at the funeral she hears about the tape. The doctors could not tell the cause of death. Rachel’s sister is devastated and asks Rachel to investigate in her daughter’s death, since Rachel is a journalist and is used to find out the truth. Rachel manages to find the tape, and watches it. But the further Rachel gets in the case, the more she starts to realize that this is something that is beyond anything anyone knows, and that it started a long time ago. Even though she watched the tape, and got the call she is determined to use the time she got left to solve this mystery, because her ex-boyfriend and son has also watched it. I really love this move. I love that it’s not just another bloody horror movie with a guy and an ax. This movie has the perfect
balance between a horror movie and a detective story. And the insecure and young love that grows through the movie between Rachel and her ex-boyfriend Noah (Martin Henderson) is really making the story more alive and is easy to relate to. And of course, a horror story gets scarier if it contains feelings and happenings that might be in people’s lives, and also some supernatural things that mess with your mind. And that’s the thing about this movie, it can be a bit supernatural but there is so much balancing it up.

The Conjuring (2013) 1h 52min – Horror| Thriller
Director: James Wan Writers: Chad Hayes, Carey Hayes Star actors: Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Lili Taylor, Ron Livingston This movie is based on a true story. It proves that the war between demons and the Holy Spirit continues even today. All the events in the movie happened in the seventies. Review: Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) Warren are famous investigators in paranormal happenings. Lorraine is psychic and her husband Ed is the only demonologist that the Catholic Church has accepted. One day they get a request from a family who is suffering from paranormal events. This family has just moved in to a new house, a man and his wife and five daughters. They start to move in to the house, packing in boxes and other stuff. The same day, when the youngest girls are playing, they discover that the house had a sealed basement. The father (Ron Livingston) starts to take away the planks, and then he goes down. When he’s in the basement he finds a piano and other stuff that the last owners had left behind. They are a little excited about this, but they don’t think about it for that long. But in the morning, the mother (Lili Taylor) wakes up with bruises on her arms. And that’s how it all begins. One thing leads to another, and finally they contact Ed and Lorraine Warren. When they arrive to the house, Lorraine can immediately feel that it was something in the house. And it’s just getting worse, much worse. My thoughts about the movie when I first heard about it, was “I need to see this!”. I love movies that are based on true stories, so this was an obvious choice. I sat down, candy on one side and my friend on the other, and pushed play. You jump right
into the story. It was a small case for Ed and Lorraine in the beginning, but I was so scared because it contained things that I can’t stand in horror movies. After that case the actual story begins. You get to know the characters really good, and it makes the whole story trustworthy and much better. The whole movie was so well done, and the acting was so good. It wasn’t blood and jump scares all the time, but you get the feeling that it always is something presence there all the time. And the fact that it’s based on a true story makes you understand what kinds of things that are out there. But the movie and the acting were so good, and it takes unexpected turns sometimes. So I certainly recommend you to see this movie.

Recipe for mud–cupcake with vanilla frosting It doesn’t matter if it’s spring, fall, summer or winter these cupcakes are perfect to invite your friends and family to anytime. And I promise that this may be the most wonderful and delicious mud cupcakes that you will ever taste. And what’s good is that they are very simple to make. Just follow the instructions below and you’ll see that it goes like clockwork.
Mud-Cupcake
100g butter 2 eggs 2 ½ dl sugar 1 ½ tsp vanilla sugar 1 pinch salt 2-3 tbsp cocoa 2 dl flour ½ tsp baking powder
Whisk egg and sugar very puffy with a mixer. Mix flour, salt, cocoa, vanilla sugar and baking powder in a separate bowl and then stir it into the egg mixture. Then melt the butter and pour it in the batter. Let the muffin cups be half full with batter and bake them at 200 degrees for about 12 minutes. And do not forget to watch them! After about 12 minutes when the cupcakes are done, take them out and let them cool before putting on the vanilla frosting.
Vanilla frosting Whilst the cupcakes are in the oven it’s good to start with the frosting. This is what you are going need:
4 tbsp soft butter 100g cream cheese (original) 4 tsp vanilla sugar 4-5 dl icing sugar
This is how you’re supposed to do: Whisk butter and cream cheese soft and fluffy. Then add vanilla sugar and icing sugar, little by little and continue whisk. When the frosting has become smooth and fluffy, it is ready! If you have a piping bag at home you can use that to apply the frosting but if you don’t you can just use a dough-scraper to smear it out. As decoration I used cocoa, grated chocolate and chocolate chips but you can use anything that you think looks nice. Serve this with a cup of hot coffee or ice cold milk and you will get the best taste of the cupcakes. Hope you’ll enjoy it!
Save money & be unique! Have you ever walked passed a second hand shop and thought “oh nasty… who would ever wear that?” Then I recommend you to take a walk down the road and think again.
Since second hand became a trend for just about the last 10 years the demand has made the companies grown to the max and receive more products with a better value, and therefore you can really find good stuff worth the money. So to prove this we went down to one of the second hand shops in Karlstad, Myrorna – “The Ants”.
The following outfits are all found at the store. We want to show the ridiculous prices, which in a normal downtown store probably would cost you at least the double…
But how does second hand help the environment? In the making of clothes a lot of chemicals and heavy metals are used. And when you throw your clothes away all of that fabric and chemicals goes away for nothing. As the fabricconsumption is increasing in the world the emissions from the textile industry becomes increasingly significant. To produce one kilogram of fabric you need in average one kilogram chemicals, which is a lot of unnecessary chemicals. When the fabrics are being washed, some of the toxic substances leaks out in the wastewater. Some examples of chemicals that are leaked out are azo dyes, lead and chromium. All of these substances are dangerous and unhealthy. The chemicals can also damage your body when you were clothes with the substances in. For example, both azo dyes, lead and chromium can all elicit different types of cancer. Lead has the tendency to
cause brain damage, especially in kids´ brains and it’s also capable to stockpile in your body and stays there for a long time because the body can’t break it down. When you produce one kilogram of cotton you need between 7000 to 29000 liters of water, and it also creates high emissions due to fertilizers and different types of pesticides. So by recycling clothes, books and furniture we can save so much of what the nature has to offer. We can save a lot of trees, water and save people from very heavy chemicals. So instead of producing more fabrics and clothes we can use the ones we already have produced. In that way we can reduce the damage of the environment. That’s why second hand is cheap and a readily available way to make your house or your clothing style more environmentally friendly and more original. Written by: Martina Maxstadh Catrine Bruce
”OUR AIM IS FOR BASKETBALL TO BE FUN” 2013 has been a rather interesting year for Swedish basketball. Both women and men qualified to the European championships and Europe was in chock when the Swedish women almost bet France in the quarter-final and when the men won big against a strong Russia. This success is not only national but also local. A great example is Solstaden Basket, a 2 year-old club in Karlstad with high ambitions for this season.
I have to say though; I am surprised that this is a club for not only youths up to 20-25, but also for people in their 40’s. Watching the women practicing, I reckon the players are between 17–40 years old. Tiina says it’s pretty much the same on the men’s team which impresses me. In that way, there is always some fresh air within the teams but at the same time, the older players can share all their experiences and knowledge with the younger ones. It’s a give and take from both sides.
I am feeling truly excited Even though there are some as I am entering the doors of another sweat-smelling older players, the main focus gymnasium.
