President’s Message Dear Members, The 69th Annual Specialty of the Wire Fox Terrier club of the Central States is behind us now. The show was amazing as always due to the hard work of club members who make it happen. The number of activities just keeps growing and it is a great thing to see. With the inclusion of Barn hunt, Rally and Obedience it adds to the depth of what our fantastic wires can do. Please get involved, there is so much to be done to bring this show together and not all of it needs to be at the show. Look at the listings of Chair people and if you think you might be able to help, contact them. I would like to thank the outgoing President Shellie Magraw and the other outgoing board members David Weaver (sorry I forgot to thank you at the dinner) , Bill Smith, and Merrilee Henderson. The new members to the board are Altha Graham , Bill McFadden, Janice Wavra and myself. I was elected president, the 1st vice president is Rosilind Kramer, 2nd vice president is Paul Gyori . Linda Albrecht was reelected as treasurer and Kathy Voss was reelected as secretary. As president I hope to serve the club well, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. My email is Hiwire@msn.com and my cell phone is 315-395-8473. It has been a very busy time here in Lafayette, the Hiwire Honey bees are very, very busy as all bees should be this time of year. Thanks to them my cherry trees produced an abundant crop and the birds and I battled over who will get the most cherries. The birds won but not before I got a pretty good haul for myself family, and friends. It’s hard to believe it is July already can Montgomery really be only a few months away? I Iook forward to seeing many of you there! Sally Lowe President

2015 Specialty Show Results Futurity Classes Judge: MerriLee Henderson Summary of Futurity Judging 2015 Thank you to the WFTCCS for selecting me to judge the 2015 Futurity and Veteran Sweepstakes. I consider this an honor and a privilege especially as a breeder. It is especially exciting as we are able to see potential future representatives of our breed, as well as view our past with the veterans. The veterans presented were all worthy of acclaim, however the one who asked for the win on the day was a 12 year old veteran, GCH CH Dalriada's Peggy Sue, who moved well and was full of spark. The BOS veteran went to GCH CH Outfoxed at the Captain's Game, who also had impeccable movement coming and going. The overall quality of the Futurity entry was outstanding, as one would expect with the process of choosing sire and dam, and nominating appropriate pups before 6 months of age. I cannot stress the importance of entering in this class if one has a commitment to improving our breed. Behavior, structure, and movement were all commendable with the entry. The first class of 6-9 month dogs was so superior that each of them could have been a first place winner. The Junior Futurity winner, Random Rowan, a 9-12 month bitch was very feminine with outstanding expression, headpiece, neck and shoulders. She was well put together, exhibiting exemplary movement. The Grand Futurity winner, Halcar O'Roarke, from the 12-15 month dog class, best represented the standard for our breed. He was not extreme in any area, but a well balanced dog, full of himself and asking for the win. He was an honest dog, with a hard terrier coat and excellent movement. Finally I was impressed by the intelligence of all of the winners, veterans and futurity pups, in that they listened to and regarded their owners. This is the temperament, that we as breeders should be srtiving for at all times. I commend the breeders for this entry. Let us continue to nominate and show such high quality dogs and bitches. Remember to nominate your bitch before whelping. Thank you again for this opportunity. MerriLee Henderson

Critique Wire Fox Terrier Club of The Central States May 9, 2015 The day had finally arrived, after the long awaited time, when I would have the extreme pleasure of seeing the most beautiful Wire Fox Terriers anywhere. It was a revered honor to be chosen to judge them on this 69th Annual Specialty Show. Nothing disappointed me as I had numerous choices to select from. My Best of Breed Dog and Select Dog were wonderful examples of the “Great possibilities” we have to mold the future of our breed. Each one had their fine points that we could use for our bitches. That is why on any given day a judge might choose either one. On this day I went with what I describe as “The Classic Wire Fox”. My Best of Breed went to GCH Foxhaus Skyfall At Foxhollow, bred by William & Kathy Voss, and my Select Dog was Ch. Hampton Court’s Monte Cristo, bred and owned by Victor Malzoni, Jr. I would also like to mention my Veteran Dog, GCH Outfoxed At the Captains Game, who is now 10 years old…..He is as competitive now as he was as a youngster. Kudos to breeder-owner Stanley & Jackie Thatcher. It was so good to see him again. And on to the Bitches…As with my BOB Dog and Select Dog. I was faced with a fine line decision. My Select Bitch, GCH Fyrewyre Fit To Be Tied, is beautiful. A prettier image, expertly groomed, could not be found very often. Gingers have certainly evolved to perfection and kudos to the breeders, Geri Mendes and A. J. Pertuit, Jr. On the day, I did select a never before seen girl by me. I felt she was perfectly balanced, so well put together, and moved with ease showing how she was made all the way around the ring. Her temperament showed with every action. I would have taken her home in a heartbeat…..She was GCH Dalraida’s Instant Karma BN RE NA NAJ NF. Oh so well named and titled. I loved her pedigree and I see she also was from a long time successful Wire Fox Breeder, Cara Campbell, DVM and owned and shown by Kristen Read. In my Junior Showmanship it again confirmed what I had said in my Showsight Interview about the future of the Breed. Both examples were shown by the Waters family, one of the two I had mentioned as the future of our Breed. The Rogers children are also but now have graduated from the Junior Show, and on to their career educations. The puppy classes were exciting for me to see how our breeding programs are doing so well. I look forward to seeing them in the future. Winners Dog and Best of Winners went to an Open Dog, Hampton Court’s Machida, bred and owned by Victor Malzoni, Jr. This dog was very impressive, had great presence, and I can see him being ready to become a good competitor in the Breed ring. Winners Bitch, Random Rachel Alexandria was bred by another well respected breeder, Bill McFadden. And now I see she is owned by Kristen Read, who was the owner of my Best Opposite Bitch. I can see she will soon be a familiar face in the Wire Fox Breed….Congratulations!! There is just a few things I found in the breed that I would like to mention.. I am seeing too many sickle hocks, and downfaced examples. They were the only problems I felt needed watching for in our breeding programs. So keep on going….The breeders need to be commended for the excellence I found in the breed ring. Keep on going!!. Wire Fox Terriers are the “love of my Life” as most of you already know…..And thank you once again for giving me this honor. Most Sincerely, Carole A. Beattie “Sunspryte” 14

2015 SHOW CHAIR’S REPORT It was touch and go this year, as to whether I could make it to the show. Just two weeks before the show my husband had gotten a report that he was positive for lymphoma/leukemia. If the specialist at the Cleveland Clinic were to prescribe treatment, I was going to be at his side and not at the show. Thankfully, we were blessed to learn that the cancer is non-aggressive and no immediate treatment was required. This allowed me to again think about the show and getting all loose ends tied up. How free it felt, to not have the worry, and to be able to come to watch the beautiful Wires and their wonderful judges. It was a great plus to have Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine as Assistant Show Chair and Joyce Wilkinson as Hotel Liaison! Joyce recognized every detail that had not been attended to and took care of it immediately. She saw the print errors and notified the persons in charge of the events. Joyce took care of everything! We are so fortunate to count Joyce among our newer members! With Peggy and Joyce on hand, I knew the show was going to be a great one. How could it help but be great, with the best Wires in the country, the most dedicated breeders, a strong contingent of owner handlers and the talented professionals, all in the ring showing to breeder judges? When combined with strong, capable officers and members of the Board of Governors, how could we help but have the best show ever? All of the above contribute to making the show a great one, but if it were not for the army of dependable volunteers, the scope of the show could not be so broad and so successful. All of the committee chairs stepped up and completed their parts of the show on time and in a very professional manner. It is very evident that members care about the WFTCCS Show, perhaps more than any other. I can highlight only a few club leaders, because every person with a show responsibility did an amazing job! Martha Smith has been our Catalog Coordinator for many years and for the last time in 2015 produced a wonderful record of our show. We thank you, Martha, and appreciate your professionalism in putting together our catalog. Martha’s replacement, Joyce Hanson, assisted with this year’s catalog, so she has an idea of what is involved in putting together the book. Thank you both!! Who could possibly replace David Weaver and Patricia Fina Weaver at catalog sales? David and Patricia will not be attending next year’s show, and the entire weekend will not be the same without them! Thank you for many years of faithfully doing this important job! Elise Singer wears many hats working for Central States. None fits better and is nicer than the Futurity and Veteran Sweepstakes, where we see the hope for our breeding programs in the puppies, and the quality of the programs in the beautiful veteran dogs and bitches proudly shown. Thank you to Elise and her team. How could we have more interesting or better attended Educational Programs? It would not be possible to beat this year’s offerings. Thank you, Cara Campbell DVM, for making this such a successful year for teaching opportunities!! Other critical links to the success of our show are our donors and show sponsors. Members bring and ship hundreds of items, all to be sold, auctioned or raffled for the funding of future shows. Others send money to the trophy fund to pay for our beautiful silver trophies and awards. Sponsors pay to fund trophies, prizes, flowers, refreshments, and ribbons and rosettes! How could we do it without them? On behalf of the Club I want to thank you all for making the show possible. Our show has been greatly enriched by the addition of performance events. Show Chair for Performance Events, Donna Johnson, makes Rally and Obedience an exciting educational event for us all. We see how much fun our Wires can have outside of the conformation ring. Most have conformation titles and a long string of Performance titles. While the conformation entries surpass the performance entries by far, it is so much fun to see just how smart our dogs and their handlers are! Thank you, Donna and your team for making this happen! Who has more fun than the Barn Hunt people and dogs? No one! Karen Passow, Gloria Thomas, and Donna Johnson have the heavy work of setting up the event and tearing down at its conclusion. So much planning goes into Barn Hunt! It is a mountain of work resulting in a mountain of fun for participants and spectators alike! Thank you! It seems that we are settling in to the changes in our show. Our new venue, the Eukanuba Hall at the Roberts Centre, is three years old and is now appreciated by everyone. The addition of new events is no longer met with questions. We love them. Change is a difficult thing for everyone. Our changes have definitely improved the show and turned it into a week of learning, seeing old friends, appreciating the beautiful entries so perfectly presented, and lots of fun! Make it a priority to come to next year’s show. Come for the greater part of the week, starting Wednesday, May 11, 2016 through Saturday, May 14, 2016. Our Board of Governors has approved a 20% increase in the number of rooms in the block at our special rate, so watch for announcements of the opening of the block in 2016. Anyone needing rooms in our block prior to Wednesday, May 11 th and after Saturday night, May 14th, please let me know, so we can included those nights in our block of special-rate rooms. We hope to see you there! Thanking you for the privilege of being your Show Chair, Altha Graham 15

WFTCCS RECOGNITION FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS

May 9, 2015 The Frank R. Booth Award is given in memory of Dr. Booth, who was a founding member of this Club. The award itself is given for meritorious service, particularly in support of the Wire Fox Terrier Club of the Central States and in general to the Wire Fox Terrier as a breed. This year the Booth Award Committee has unanimously voted to grant this award to Janice Wavra. Janice has been a member of this Club for 19 years. During this time, she has been involved in a variety of Club activities. She & her husband, Joe, took ownership of the silent auction and raffle in 2004 and are still active in this function. Over the years they expanded the scope and format of this program, which now generates on the order of $4800.00 to $5000.00 each year. Since the merchandise is donated by the Club members, this figure is pure profit, and because of their unique salesmanship generally places all items. Janice is also a participant in the Welcoming Event. She served one, four-year term as a Board member and judged our Puppy Sweepstakes in 2013. On behalf of the Booth Award Committee, I am pleased to present this plaque to Janice as permanent evidence of having received this recognition. Congratulations! S. David Weaver Peggy Beisel-Mcllwaine Joyce Diehl

30-Year Hall of Fame 2015

I first became interested in wires in 1963 when my parents bought a dog to take with them to a new home in upstate New York. After college in 1969, I bought a wire bitch as a pet and enjoyed her at home and on most vacation trips for 15 years. When she died in 1984, I started going to dog shows looking for a replacement and was fortunate to get a bitch from Eve Ballich. Through this association, I became interested in showing, acquired a show male from Eve in 1985 and became a member of the WFTCCS in the same year. Over the next few years, I attended the annual WFTCCS show and many east coast dog shows with the Evewire group. I finished my two show wires, with the help of Eve and Peter Green. My first homebred, Ch. DayLynn's White Knight finished in 1990. I no longer do any breeding and am less active in attending dog shows, but always have a spot on my calendar for the "Central States" Specialty.

Over the years, I have served the WFTCCS in several areas. In 1991, I assumed the responsibility for Hall of Fame Research from Dr. John Masley and continued in that assignment for 12 years. I served as Club Treasurer for 10 years and served two, four-year terms as a Board Member. I also belong to the American Fox Terrier Club.

S. David Weaver

MerriLee Henderson from Minnesota has shown wires under the Cedarbriar prefix since 1985. Her first show dog however, was Ch Henderson's Holiday Magic bred by Virginia Matanic. To date there have been 70 Cedarbriar home breds with more to come.

30-Year Hall of Fame 2014 I hope this acceptable & not too long. I feel in light of how the Club is now accepting performance events & dogs this message needs to be heard. I want to welcome these people. A customer of mine shows Standard Poodles. She said at their specialty it was announced that show entries were down, but performance entries were up. This, she said, this the wave of the future for the breeds. I have been a member of CS for over 40 years. I got my first dog, a Wire Hair Fox Terrier in 1968, from a pet shop. No local breeders had puppies at the time. I have had 6 Wires in my life, so far. My first 4 weren't show quality, but they all earned AKC Companion titles in obedience with scores in the 190's, placements and only took the 3 required shows to get their titles. My dream was to get a Wire to show. I bought an 8 week old bitch from Andrew DiGiorgio. She became Ch. Foxhollow Morning Glory CD, UCD, JE, CGC, TDI. She also received the AKC award for Canine Excellence in 2004 for alerting me 3 times to my husband going into Diabetic shock. There was also a Doberman in my bedroom who just slept. Glory did numerous print ads, was in a movie, and was on Saturday Night Live twice. She was my dog that did everything for me. She died at 14 of Irritable bowel. She received The Crackerjack award from The AFTC for getting titles in 3 disciplines. My latest dog, James Bond, came to me at 4 years with his Championship and Novice Rally titles put on him by his breeder Jesy Wahlsten. I have put on his Junior Earth Dog & Novice Barn Hunting title on him. He has received the Cracker Jack award from The AFTC for 3 disciplines & will be receiving The Applause award this year for having achieved 4 discipline titles. He has done one print ad for Nikon. For the 3 years that I have owned him he has been coming to work with me at my Post Office. I am the Postmaster & work alone. He is loved by all my customers both young and old. I have been a silent member of The Club, but one of the ambassadors to show the public that these dogs are not just a pretty face. They can be trained just like any other breed and can compete and do well. I have also trained Dobermans, but prefer the Wire. I am so proud to be a part of this new evolution of CS into including Performance Events. I believe this is the wave of the future and hope that every year our Performance entries increase as the word spreads of what we are doing. ~ Patty Greaves

In 1997 my father used to take me to dog shows in Bucaramanga, my home town in Colombia, South America where I showed my first dog, a Toy Poodle. Years later I moved to Bogota to start my studies in Veterinarian Medicine and moving to a big city I had the opportunity to go to bigger shows, and came in contact with breeders of many different breeds. In my free time I worked as a groomer and showed my own dog. My fondest memories are of one dog in show condition; the Wire Fox Terrier, winning BIS Amer. Ch. Brynmill Brigadier, owned by Yolanda Uribe De Vargas who use to breed wire fox terriers ‘YOUVAR’ and hired Cliff Hallmark, Richard Guevara and Richard Powell to show her dogs here in the US and in Colombia as well. In 1987 I became a member of the Colombian Kennel Club and started breeding Belgian Sheepdogs. My Kennel name is “SANHERPINC” which comes from the initials of my full name, Santiago Hernando Pinto Cadavid. In 1988 as I was coming back from the World Dog Show in Lima, Peru, and decided to quit my studies of Veterinarian Medicine to start my now successful career as a professional handler. In 1994 I worked as an assistant for Mark and Sally George and later worked for Bill and Taffe MacFadden, learning to condition and prepare the dogs for the show ring. As a full time handler In my country I showed beautiful Wires one of them was Mult. Ch. Cottleston Corporal, bred by Ruth Cooper and sold by Peter Green to Fred Kniasinsky, who was like a father to me in the dog world, winning over 50 BIS in multiple countries and got First Award of Merit in Montgomery County Kennel Club in 1997 under Ric Chashoudian; an another one was English Ch. Brocolitia best kept secret, top wire in England 1996 and 1997 own by my friend Alex Fernandez from Spain. During this time I started breeding Wire Fox Terriers. I got my foundation bitch from Susan Carter, Col. Ch. Wyrlake Ticket to Ride, who I bred twice with different stud dogs, keeping a female in each litter. In my breeding program I use the line breeding and then out cross breeding. If I can, I come back to the line breeding; always having “type” as a guideline. In my pedigrees you will be able to find the top American and English blood lines. I had the opportunity to breed beautiful dogs represented by my kennel name all around the US, Canada, Mexico, India and most South American countries. Between Wires, Welsh and Lakeland Terriers, I am close to finishing about 50 champions, most of them finished from Bred by Class. As a breeder it is a honor for me to receive this award and thank you for the opportunity and to everyone involve. ~ Santiago Pinto

2015 Barn Hunt The Barn Hunt held on Thursday of our specialty weekend was a great success, we had 75 entries, up 22 from our first Barn Hunt held last year. We welcomed 6 handlers who participated for the first time at the specialty. 31 wires participated in the two trials with 23 handlers. We hope to top those numbers in 2016.

George meeting the rat for the first time during the Meet and Greet held Wednesday afternoon. Ready to hunt in 2016! The following new titles were awarded:

High in Class Awards (Combined from both trials)

Novice: Manny with Donna Johnson Penny with Colleen Herrmann Maddie with Sylvia Murray

Novice: Karma and Kris Read

Open: DJango with Becky Heiner James Bond with Patti Greaves

Master: Bella and Lucia Hackett

Open: Penny and Colleen Herrmann

RATCHX: Will with Karen Passow. Will is the first wire fox in the country to earn this title.

We had many club members who came and supported the barn hunt teams by coming down to cheer and enjoy the team work exhibited by those barn hunting. The barn hunt committee (Donna Johnson, Gloria Thomas, Elise Singer, Lori Yotter, and Lucia Hackett) would like to thank those who supported the barn hunt by donations, volunteering and purchasing raffle tickets. The barn hunt was a financial success. Income from the Rat and Go, Entry Fees, and the performance raffle along with donations topped our expenses by over $1200. Barn Hunt Chair Karen Passow

Our Versatile Wires... OTCH TES Jacks Full Of Dueces (aka Tyler) earned his Obedience Trial Championship at the Corn Belt Kennel Club show in May. Tyler is only the second wire to have earned this honor. So proud of my boy! The first I am told is Pat Kadel with OTCH Boulders Bubbling Benjy in the late '80's. If anyone has any information on Pat, I would appreciate it! ~ Robin James

CH Foxhaus Fancy Fella is now a Grand Champion - and finished being owner-handled. ~ William & Kathy Voss

Proud to share that "Bella" RATCH Ch Hiwire Act at Hexham BN CD RE SE CA CGC CD-C RO1 and doggie star of Moonrise Kingdom was Barn Hunt "High in Master Level" at this year's Central States Barn Hunt trial. At that point we were still accumulating legs towards her Barn Hunt Champion title which she went on to earn in June. She is the first WFT bitch to earn that title. Bella is 14 years young and still enjoying playing this silly game with me. ~ Lucia Hackett

This is the third year that James Bond and I have come to CS from NJ. My main goal was to try and get his 3rd leg on his Open Barn Hunt Title. He got 2 Open legs last year and did well. We went to 2 more shows in the fall & he just enjoyed jumping all over the hay bales & forgot he was supposed to be looking for rats. I knew it would be a crap shoot, but I thought maybe he liked the grounds at CS better. It was hot the day of the trial, but he shocked me & found the 2 rats in 45 seconds & came in first. We decided to give Senior ago. He found the first rat & focused on where they took it out, jumping up & down. By some miracle I got him away & focused on finding another rat. He found it, they took it away & he started jumping up & down focused on the 2 rats that were removed. I tried my hardest to refocus him, but to no avail. We dismissed ourselves because 2 rats was his limit for the day. We’ll have to train so he knows there are more. Another reason I like to go to CS is to enter James Bond in Veterans Classes so I can get help with my grooming skills. Every year I learn more. I just wish it just wasn’t once a year. I want to especially thank Micha Waters for making James Bond look like the nice dog that he is and for me to feel proud walking him around the ring. This is what CS is all about. Helping & encouraging your fellow Wire owner in Barn Hunt, Obedience, Rally & Breed. We need this to keep our breed popular. We don’t want it to die. ~ Patty Greaves & James Bond

WFTCCS Board Meeting Minutes Thursday, May 7, 2015

Meeting was called to order by President Shellie Magraw @ 7:00 pm Present: Shellie Magraw, Elise Singer, Donna Johnson, S. David Weaver, Lynn Sobin-Comstock, Peggy Beisel McIlwaine, Carole Beattie, Paul Gyori, Susan Nowicki, Linda Albrecht and Andy DiGiorgio Absent: Merilee Henderson, William Smith, Doug Carlson, Debi Brieter and Roz Kramer Present in a non-voting capacity: Altha Graham, Kathy Voss , Bill McFadden, Sally Lowe, Lori Yotter, Nancy Hittepole and Janice Wavra President’s Message: President Shellie Mcgraw welcomed Board Members and guests. We have a good entry across the board in all our events. She is happy with where we are with entries considering how entries are down in other areas. The board conducted business the best it could. Show Chairs Report: Altha Graham reports that next year the show will not be on Mother’s Day weekend, the show dates for 2016 are May 12 -14th. 2015 entries are up in conformation and slightly down in the performance events. In 2014 conformation was 68 this year it is 74. In 2014 performance events were 40 this year it is 23. In 2015 we added Barn Hunt and National Owner Handler . For Finances in 2012 we lost $4,317.00; in 2013 we lost $3,869. For 2014 we lost $350 so we are getting healthier due to large trophy donations and large sponsorships. Barn Hunt donated $1600 to the club last year. Barn Hunt revenue should be up this year due to increase in turn out. Altha commented that she would like to keep the cost for entries at $30 to encourage people to enter. Altha did speak to the Roberts Centre about allowing vendors to the show, Altha inquired and found that if the vendors bring all their own stuff (tables, etc) there is no charge by the Roberts Centre the club could charge and keep the money, if they want the Roberts Centre to supply tables, etc then they would have to pay the Roberts Centre and then the club would charge them too. It was agreed that most vendors do supply their own supplies and set up. For Trophies this year in performance we have the Hunter and Miss Daisy Trophy and for 2016 we should have the Best of Opposite Sex Challenge Trophy in Memory of Ric Chashoudian this is being spearheaded by Andy DiGiorgio. At this time Andy is looking into the cost. There had been speculation that Kiki Courtelis would sponsor the trophy however, there is no firm commitment. This year Kiki did pay for the flowers and rosettes. Andy commented that there are handlers that would donate to this trophy. Altha discussed the issue with the Holiday Inn Room availability issue. This year there was an issue with some members being unable to get a room at the host hotel. This is due to the size of the hotel which is approx. 100-115 beds and configuration, most are all King beds. Next year all the rooms will be double beds except the 5th floor which will be King. Altha has talked with the Manager to get a break down as what percentage of rooms are booked for each night. Each night is a different number of set aside rooms in our block. The club needs to fill 90% of our block or we have to pay for those rooms. We may need to increase the number of rooms. Shellie asked is it possible to negotiate that the hotel will hold the block up to a given date and if not filled those rooms are released, say April 15 so that if the rooms are not booked by members they go back to the hotel and the club is not stuck with paying for rooms not used. Members are then responsible for getting their reservations in early. Can we block more rooms and have an earlier cutoff date. Start rooms to be booked earlier and have the cutoff date in April say the 15 th. Altha will discuss it with the Manager of the hotel to get more rooms in the block and have earlier dates. The current manager is very nice and willing to work with the Club. We currently have 70 we can increase by 20% across the board, Altha will discuss with the hotel. The 12-15 month in the Sweepstakes but not in the Classes this was an error next year we will have 12-15 mo in the Sweeps and the Classes. Altha has stickers to ID new club members or visitors to the show so that current members can then approach and Welcome them to the club. There was an error for the start time for the Performance events on Friday they start at 8:30, the Judging program listed the incorrect time. All of those involved have been notified. Futurity is at 5:00pm not 4:30 Veteran Sweeps will be first.

Treasurer’s Report: Linda had passed the report to all Board members. Total assets on July 1, 2014: $50,345.39. Income: $13,941.00; Expenses: $9830.47 Summary of Liquid Assets as of April 30, 2015: $54,455.92 a net gain of $4,110.53. We are in a good position. Any questions regarding the report Linda would be happy to answer. The hotel bill should be the about the same as last year. Regarding the Insurance Policy, last year we had had discussions about the trophies about getting some appraised for their value. We have not been able to do that. When Linda received the bill she looked at our current coverage, for Club owned property we have up a $1,000 per item up to $5,000. They did not seem adequate. We have the option for $200 to increasing the coverage to $5,000 aggregate $10,000 with a $250 deductible. Current premium is $600 this would be an increase of $200. To increase coverage to $10, 000/$20,000 would be a premium increase of $400. As it was time to renew the policy Linda discussed with Shellie and it was agreed to do the increase to $5,000/$10,000 for the $200 increase. If the Board believes it should be higher we can discuss. The current premium is $800 and $669 for the Officer Liability. Shellie believes the current increase was necessary. The storage facility does not offer insurance. Several of the trophies would have a high value. Discussion did include having the trophies stored elsewhere, for example Jewelers, but that would not be feasible as most do not have the storage area/facility. Andy DiGiorgio did make a motion to increase the rate to $10,000/$20,000 for a total premium of $1000 2nd by Susan Nowicki, Linda will send an email to the Insurance Company. Shellie discussed with Linda that over the years we have had many generous donations to the Trophy Club. Shellie believes that such donations should be acknowledged by the Club and thanked for their donations. Linda will let the Sec’y know who these members are and the Sec’y will send out Thank You notices. Old Business: Newsletter: David Weaver, this issue will be addressed in a few minutes. BOS trophy, Andy DiGiorgio is working on this getting a base. Payments and adding money for a “take home” trophy. Shellie inquired if the club is currently paying/providing for a take home trophy. There is a trophy is a currently presented. Shellie did discuss with a party about paying for a trophy and paying for take home trophies. We currently do not have a Memorial Trophy. We have someone to sponsor and pay for a Memorial trophy. Andy will get the price for the Memorial Trophy in memory of Ric Chashoudian a lot of the handlers have expressed to donate towards this. Andy will get the cost of the trophy plus the cost of 20years for take home and then donate that money to club. Andy believes that this will work out. The statue has been donated by Judy Hunter. All Andy needs is the base and the plaques. The handler donations will cover the cost of the 20yrs trophy. The BOS will be a Memorial trophy that will have to be won by the same breeder 3x, it is a breeder trophy. The take home will be a plaque. This will replace the current BOS trophy. The Hunter Miss Daisy trophy- the winner is getting a Certificate that they can take home – it will be mailed with the winner’s name. On the trophy the names will be engraved on the trophy itself. The trophy is at the show and will be on display. The Memorial trophy is for the Breeder of the Best of the Opposite, the breeder has to be a member of the Club. Regarding the Newsletter: In the past there had been some concern about putting the Newsletter on the website which would be public. However this does not seem to big issue and Shellie believes it should be on the website and available for anyone to see. This way it will be available for all members to see without having to sign into a site as some members were having difficulty doing this. Shellie commented that several years ago when this was suggested the concern was that the Newsletter was part of your membership and non-members should not have access. However this does not seem to an issue today. A motion to include the Newsletter on the clubs website was made by Paul Gyori, 2nd by Elise Singer, Motion carrier. Fred is working on site to allow you to print the Newsletter. By offering the Newsletter on the website is saving the Clubs money. Committee Reports: Futurity: Elise Singer: Futurity is doing good numbers are up. Video Sales you will be able to pre-order forms will be available at the banquet on Saturday. Some from last year are available if you wish. This is a different video photographer, it was asked he not include music, edit it would be nice to see the bad as well as the good. It was asked if the Obedience placements could be on the video. The awards and placements should be on video should be on the official club video as a club record. Elise will discuss with the guy for doing this next year. There would be Sales for adding this. It was considered to do the placements at the end so that they could be videoed. It will be discussed with him as to what the cost to have him there the extra day to video the Performance or if someone else took the video could he add it onto the tape.

Dinner: Dot was not present. Shellie had spoken with her, a few weeks ago she only had 69 people but currently we are at about 100 for the dinner. Janice reported we should about 112 for Friday night. Janice did speak with the Management, there will be smaller plates, and hot food served later, this is not intended to be a “dinner”. Susan reports that Eukanuba has come thru with gift items so that everyone will have something along with some surprises. Catalog: A New Catalog person, Joyce Hanson will take over for next year. Merchandise: Linda reports we have 3 new items. Jean Shirts with club emblem- they are unisex sizes. Decals and car magnets and Mugs available for $50.00 apiece. She has 16 of them so she hopes to sell them all! Membership: Sally Lowe, Has received one completed application and is expecting about 7 more to be turned in. The completed application has already been sent out to the board from, Andrew Kramer. At the meeting Sally received an application from David Barrish and Catherine O’Brien from White Plains, NY. Sponsors are Andy DiGiorgio and Susan Carter Nowicki. New Business: a. Discuss the room situation with the Holiday Inn, this has already been addressed and discussed in Altha’s Show Chair’s Report. Any New Business from the floor: Lynn Sobin-Comstock reported on trophies, trophies are very expensive and engraving them is even more expensive and rising. The cost for engraving this year was $1,084.00 the trophies have to be re-considered. It had been discussed about offering other items as trophies in the classes i.e. note cards, leads, etc.; the concern was the small items for placements 2-4. Peggy Biesel suggested Woodbury Pewter which is less expensive and does not need to be polished, our logo could be added. The tradition has always been silver but it is no longer financially possible. For Winners the trophies would remain. It was then suggested that for the classes 2-4 be the pewter or notepaper something practical that someone could use. Peggy made a motion for Usable trophy across the board for the classes 1-4 2nd by Paul Gyori, Motion passed. This would be just for the classes the Winners, Bred would remain. Donna Johnson brought up for Barn Hunt, is bringing in income to the club. There has been interest from other breeds in the area to allow other breeds in Barn Hunt. This would bring in more income. You could do a trial with all breeds and one with Wires. Shellie did bring up that there has been some concern and opposition by members against the performance activities, Therefore Shelly believes that we should keep the activity solely for wires. This weekend is for and about Wires. Donna brought up the fact about the income Barn Hunt brings in should be considered. It could be limited to just terriers and offer on Thursday only. Shellie again pointed out that the club is about Wires and by expanding to include another day with other breeds you are taking away from the Wire weekend. Andy DiGiogrio brought up the fact that the Constitution states that the purpose of the Club is to promote and protect the Wire Fox Terrier. The Board should consider and discuss it further as Old Business on Saturday. If you allowed additional breeds it would expand the time. Donna then stated that many of the Obedience folks are also interested in Agility the cost would not be an additional cost this would be on Friday at the same time as Greet & Groom. The entries would be limited. The Michigan Group has agreed to work this event. Donna would look into setting up a trial to see how it would go. This would be another event to increase revenue. The concern is who would work this even and that the members who can and do work the events would be stretched thin. It was agreed that the Club would continue with the current activity and we wait a couple of years before considering adding Agility. It can be added again for old business on Saturday. The Dinner Board Meeting on Thursday was considered a big success and we should continue. Sally Lowe: Vote on new Members – Andrew Kramer, David Barish & Catherine O’Brien: Andy made a motion to accept the members 2nd Donna. All agreed Motion carried. Adjourn: There was a motion to adjourn by Donna . Meeting ended at 8:20 pm Respectfully submitted by: Kathy Voss, WFTCCS Secretary
