The project called for the creation of a new library entrance and the re-design of the adjacent public square. My design approach was to create organic groundwork that mimicked Brunelleschi’s adjacent rotunda and acted to draw users towards the inner courtyard of the building. The spiral circulation and hierarchical program distribution reinforce the central courtyard. The three lightshafts within the building house private gardens for reading and symbolize the re-introduction of nature into the historic city center of Florence, Italy.
The project called for a 600 sq. ft residence on the slopes of Mount Baldy. The “magic box” parti minimized the building footprint while allowing for spacial diversity. Datum lines were mirrored from plan to section for a simple division of program. The folded roof system framed specific views while various planes separated public and private space. A 4 ft tall scale model was built from reinforced concrete and wood framing to understand the project’s constructability.

This four story complex, located at the crossroads of two major streets in Florence, Italy is comprised of a hotel, a housing complex, office and retail space. Inspired by “Pamphlet Architecture 27: Tooling, my partner and I performed a series of exercises to develop the project in regards to program privacy, adjacencies and urban context. The groundscape was woven with a series of paths, bridges and tunnels to reconnect the site to the adjacent community and the nearby train station. The site program was separated into three buildings each with their own adjacent plaza and internal courtyard. By spreading the program over the entire site, the project was able to match the scale of the surrounding neighborhood. Weaving

Located at the border of Manhattan Beach and El Segundo, my thesis proposal worked to transform a beachfront portion of the 1,000 acre Chevron Refinery into both a public park and a water desalination plant for the Los Angeles basin. Propelled by the recent drought and our city’s current unsustainable water sources, the proposed project would offset imported water demand while maximizing the potential of the 8 acre site. My architectural strategy was to overlay a park over a submerged desalination plant. The interplay between the industrial and the public programmatic needs coalesced into a series of nodes. These nodes provide park users the unique opportunity to learn about each stage of the desalination process. A
