iPadPalooza South Texas is a one day event that will be held at one of McAllen ISD's high schools in McAllen, Texas. This learning festival is a celebration of the cultural shift that iPads and other technology have brought about in education and the world. This event will focus on creativity, social collaboration, engagement and the compelling ways schools have integrated technology into their classrooms. iPadPalooza South Texas is collaborating with the original iPadPalooza that begin in Austin Texas.

I would like to thank everyone who is attending McAllen ISD's first iPadPalooza STX. I had a great gr0up of 7:30-4:30 people who helped make today possible. I would like to Learning has never been so fun! thank them for all their hard work. Have a fantastic day of learning! August 1, 2015

DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS CARL HOOKER - Mr. Hooker came to this planet in the mid-70's. He immediately began to embrace our planet's culture and the powerful role learning plays in every day human life. By the turn of the century he had taken on a classroom teaching job and eventually felt the need to expand his passion for learning into a district level position. Never forgetting the mantra of his home planet "Vile instructorum, terminea vitras" which roughly translates into "When we stop learning, we die", he continues to learn, grow, share, and take risks. His only known kryptonite is encountering fixed mindsets. TODD NESLONEY-Todd Nesloney is the Principal/Lead Learner of Navasota Intermediate in Navasota, TX. He is the 2014 Bammay Award Recipient for Elementary Classroom Teacher of the Year, the TCEA Teacher of the Year for 2014, a White House Champion of Change, a National School Board Association “20 to Watch”, and Center for Digital Education “Top 40 Innovators in Education”. Todd also is the co-founder of The 3 Tech Ninjas and the author of children’s book “Spruce & Lucy” and the co-author of the Award Winning Book, “Flipping 2.0”. He is also the cohost of the popular education podcast series “EduAllStars”. JENNIFER LA GARDE -Jennifer LaGarde (aka library girl!) is the Lead School Library Media Coordinator/Digital 7:30-4:30 Teaching and Learning Specialist for New Hanover County Schools in Wilmington, NC. With over 18 years Learning has never been so fun! experience in public education, Jennifer has been a classroom teacher, school library media coordinator, August 1, 2015 district level leader and educational consultant for the NC Dept of Public Instruction. She is one of only two school librarians, ever, to both win the ALA, New York Times and Carnagie Corporation’s "I Love My Librarian Award" AND be named a Library Journal "Mover and Shaker.” Jennifer has published numerous articles on best educational practices for journals like Teacher Librarian and Knowledge Quest. She is also the author of the award winning blog The Adventures of Library Girl where she proves you don’t have to be super hero to be a teacher librarian, but having a cape sure helps.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS LISA JOHNSON- Just Google “iPad Lessons” and Lisa Johnson’s creations and curations can be readily found across a variety of social networks. Recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2013, recent nominee for the National Bammy Awards in Educational Technology, and featured in both editions of “ Pads in Education for Dummies", Lisa thoughtfully and diligently models and shares the transformational power of mobile devices and professional learning networks within the global edusphere. Creator of the TechChef4u app and blog, Co-host of “Appy Hours 4 U” and “iVengers Radio”, and Co-Author of the professional development hit “Hot Apps 4 HOTS” with close to 20,000 international downloads, Lisa Johnson offers a unique perspective as she is embedded at the intersection of where all stakeholders in technology integration meet. Mother of two mobile natives, Educational Technologist supporting a K-12 1:1 Pad school district, nationally recognized speaker, international curriculum writer, and consultant for multiple educational technology firms, Lisa Johnson has the ability to see and share how technology can impact and redefine pedagogy, assessment, instruction, and the four walls of the classroom. Blending purposeful technology integration with wit and a dollop of app-thusiasm, Lisa Johnson addresses hot topics ranging from SAMR and 21st century learning to formative assessment, fostering students as authors, differentiated instruction, e-portfolios, workflow, curation, collaborative cultures, device neutral classrooms, and the ever evolving classroom dynamic. Learning has never been so fun! TRACY CLARK -Tracy designs innovative learning opportunities for educators, administrators, and students. August 1, 2015 As the Director of Professional Learning Initiatives, she strives to push against the status quo and partner with district leaders to redefine what on-going learning looks like for modern educators. As an “eduprenuer", Tracy creates technology tools that encourage metacognition, visible thinking, and put student needs first. Her experience, serving as a bilingual teacher in Texas and Mexico, and her work with children with special needs, deeply impacts how she sees challenges in education. She shares her vision and creativity through writing, presenting and learning alongside educators. Tracy received her Masters in Early Childhood with a focus on children with special needs. She is co-founder and lead organizer of EdTechWomen Austin.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS JUAN OROZCO- Juan Orozco is an Education Specialist for Educational Technologist at Eanes ISD and has been an educator for 18 years. Juan is also an Intel Teach Master Teacher, Google Certified Teacher, PBS Teacherline facilitator, Discovery Star Educator, and a Texas Staff Development Conference board member (TSDC). He has developed and led numerous instructional technology staff development sessions and has presented at various conferences including the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) now ISTE, Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA), Florida Educational Technology Conference (FETC) SXSW Interactive and Texas Staff Development Conference (TSDC). TIM YENCA- In 1998, I began my career in education as a secondary mathematics teacher in Bethlehem, PA. After earning a master’s degrees in Classroom Technology and a post-master's of Instructional Technology Specialist, I moved into a new role as a Technology Specialist. In March 2012, my family and I decided to move to Austin, Texas where I began a new job working for Eanes Independent School District. Currently, I serve as the district EdTech Coordinator focusing on our mobile technology initiative, a 1:1 iPad initiative for all of our K-12 students and staff. Other than working for Eanes ISD, I travel nationally a few times a year to provide professional development workshops in the realm of educational technology. 7:30-4:30 Learning has never been so fun! CATHY YENCA -Cathy Yenca (known online as "Mathy Cathy") is a middle school mathematics teacher in a 1:1 iPad classroom. After teaching for 10 years in eastern Pennsylvania,August 1, 2015 Cathy and her family moved across the country to join Eanes ISD in Austin, Texas, where she teaches at Hill Country Middle School. A proud member of the Apple Distinguished Educator Class of 2013, Nearpod Author, and ThingLink Expert Educator, Cathy documents her iPad adventures at mathycathy.com/blog, where she regularly shares technology integration ideas for student engagement and assessment.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS sergio camberos- My name is Sergio Camberos and I’m a 15th year teacher. I've been using Blogger for 2 years and it has helped me become a better educator, save resources by creating a paperless classroom for the most part, save time, and establish better rapport with my students. I’ve presented during staff development trainings and have received positive responses from teachers who have implemented Blogger into their classroom curriculum. My depth and knowledge of Google applications and the degree of technological integration that I have incorporated in my classroom have earned me my appointment as the technology liaison for my campus. sylvia escobar - Sylvia Escobar was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated from PSJA North High School and received a BS in Biology from Trinity University, MS in Computer Science and MEd in Educational Leadership both from the University of Texas – Pan American. Serving fifteen years in education, Sylvia has taught math, technology and engineering and been a campus administrator focusing on STEM and early college initiatives. She is currently a STEM Specialist at the Region One Education Service Center in Edinburg, Texas. gus perez -Gustavo serves as a STEM Education Specialist for the Region One Education Service Center in 7:30-4:30 Edinburg, TX. An accomplished educator and former engineer, Mr. Perez is actively disseminating promising Learning has never been so fun! best practices and research-based strategies for integrating STEM education into all content areas. Serving August 1, 2015 teachers, students, and administrators at the local, state, and national levels, his recent work includes training opportunities in engineering, project based learning, computer science, and robotics. Mr. Perez holds an engineering degree from Texas A&I University, a Masters from the University of Texas Pan American, and is currently working on his dissertation with Texas Tech University where he studies Global Collaborative STEM Education.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS LIANA MARTINEZ -Liana Martinez is a Social Studies Specialist at Region One Education Service Center in Edinburg, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Social Studies and English/Language Arts from Texas State University-San Marcos. She then graduated from Walden University with a Master of Education in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment in 2013. Liana has nine years of service in the roles of secondary social studies teacher, department chair, colorguard sponsor, and a member of her district’s curriculum writing team. In 2009, Liana was named Teacher of the Year at Austin Middle with the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo independent school district. She is passionate about student success and promoting life-long learning for all. She loves history and hopes that students will see the relevance of the past in today’s society. In her current role as a Social Studies Specialist, she strives to serve and assist local educators in their endeavor to create critical thinkers and contributing citizens of society. JOSE J SAENZ -J J is a Rio Grande Valley Native and was born, raised and educated in Edinburg, Texas. He is married to Diana and has three children, one who just got married in December. He received his Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from the University of Texas Pan American in 2005. Since his career began in the Elementary Level teaching 4th grade with Edinburg School District, JJ has had an interest in integrating technology into the classroom. When his school became 7:30-4:30 departmentalized, he was asked to teach Social Studies and Science. From then on his love for history and Learning has never been so fun! teaching it grew. In 2008 he decided to teach only Social Studies and began working in middle school with the August 1, 2015 Pharr-San Juan-Alamo School District. During those years JJ became Team Leader, Department Chair, Leadership Committee for Discipline and a member of his district’s curriculum writing team while learning many new and exciting ways to bring technology into the social studies classroom. JJ’s love for history and teaching it has him currently working as a Social Studies Specialist with Region One Education Service Center in Edinburg. His goal now is to assist teachers to develop historical and geographical thinking students by emphasizing inquiry and the integration of technology.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS isidra gutierrez - I have taught middle school the last 17 years. Have worked with the McAllen school district for 8 years. sandra guerra- My name is Sandra L. Guerra. I am an 8th Grade Mathematics/Algebra teacher and department head at Fossum Middle School. I was part of the first cadre teacher for our McAllen ISD district. I presented the benefits of the utilizing technology in the math classroom at both peer-lead conference for our district. lee keyes -I have taught all grades from 4th to 8th and have specialized in science education for the last 15 of my 17 years of teaching. With my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Science Education and as part of an elite group of educators that participated in over 200 hours of Earth Science education with the TEXeSS Revolution I am more than ready to assist where I can. jason barrera -Jason is the current Director of Theatre Arts at McAllen High School. He graduated with a degree in Theatre from Ithaca College in New York and is currently working on his Masters in Directing. He has been involved in the creation of over 60 productions in his short career. He returned to McAllen to help provide Theatre Education in the school district he proudly graduated from. He is passionate about storytelling and would love to tell you his story about how technology changed the way he shares stories. 7:30-4:30 Learning has never been so fun! August 1, 2015 sarah franz -Sarah Nenque Franz Work: MISD/Rowe High School I've been in education for 31 years, 20+ as a high school librarian. Throughout the years, we librarians have been at the forefront as technology has changed the way we educate our kids. I've gone from a card catalog back in the 80's to what we have now... a completely automated library with ebooks, databases, apps, gadgets, and now with the magic of Google, it is time to prepare for our latest challenge.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS laura sheneman- Dr. Laura Sheneman is the Coordinator of Library Services and Information Resources for Region One Education Service Center. She provides training and support for 600+ school librarians in deep South Texas from Laredo to Brownsville, Texas. Dr. Sheneman's is recognized as a change agent, consultant, and coach. Her professional workshops and research have established many contacts in South Texas and with key personnel across the state of Texas and beyond. She has also served as an Adjunct and Clinical Assistant Professor in Library Science for Sam Houston State University and serves on various state and national committees.Dr. Sheneman is active on national and state level library committees. john rocha-Mr. Rocha is a teacher at the McAllen Regional Day School Program for the Deaf. He hold a master's degree in Deaf Education from Texas Tech University, and is a certified online instructor. After 6 years of military service (USMC/US Army) he worked for a large international computer training company, project managing the development of customized training programs for corporate proprietary software programs. He began teaching after moving to Texas 9 years ago and lives with two cats. jim lindsay-Jim is the McAllen ISD Apple Account Representative who works most closely with leadership to assist with the overall health and wellness of the McAllen ISD 1:1 collaboration. A career educator, Jim spend 7:30-4:30 15 years in the classroom as a Pre-AP and AP English teacher, is an award winning teacher and actor, and a Learning has never been so fun! published author in the field of curriculum and instruction. August 1, 2015 david hernandez - David is currently a K12 Development Executive with Apple Education. david attended the University of Texas at Brownsville and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Masters in Education Leadership. He was selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator for the North America Class of 2013 and serves as an advocate, ambassador and advisor for use of Apple technology in the classroom.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS daniel galeana- Daniel has been an Instructional Technology Specialist for the past 15 years at McAllen ISD and is the CEO of a website development and graphics company. He is a certified online instructor and has presented at T.C.E.A. and Region1 conferences. He has taught elementary, middle school, and high school during his teaching career in both traditional and alternative settings. rosie fluegel -Mrs. Rosie Fluegel has been a leader in Instructional Technology at McAllen ISD for 15 years. Rosie is at the forefront of Mobile Device and Web 2.0 technologies and she's deeply committed to helping learners understand the transformational power of technology. She has spoken at local, regional and state technology education conferences. Rosie works closely with classroom teachers, principals and district administrators to achieve best practice technology infusion into teaching and learning. Raquelcantu-I have 19 years of professional experience in both teaching in an elementary classroom and in the integration of technology into the classroom curriculum. I taught in the elementary level for nine years as a 1st Grade and a 2nd Grade Bilingual teacher. Currently I am a Technology Specialist with the McAllen School District. I have been a specialist for ten years and I have seen that students enjoy using technology as a learning tool. As a Technology Specialist I have worked on finding ways to integrate more technology into the classroom curriculum. Having the opportunity to do this has allowed me to find many different activities, websites, resources and projects to use in the classroom that will help introduce students to 7:30-4:30 learning through the use of technology. I am also a certified online instructor and have created a few courses Learning has never been so fun! via Project Share and iTunes U. August 1, 2015 gonzalo sandoval -Gonzalo Sandoval - In 1995, I began my career in education as a secondary mathematics and computer science teacher in Edinburg, Texas. After earning a Master’s degree in education, I moved to McAllen ISD as a technology specialist in 2002. As a technology specialist I provide ongoing staff development for teachers and administrators in our district. Technology trainings include iPad integration in the classroom. I provide support for district wide technology components currently implemented in our district such as Edline, Robotics and Google Apps. I’m currently working towards a master’s degree in computer science at the University of Texas RGV.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS brooke corso- I'm the librarian for Cathey Middle School in McAllen, taking care of over 1000 students and over 60 teachers on campus. My focus is on individual ownership of and agency in the library. As a community center, the library needs to respond to each of its constituents, both in the physical and digital worlds. tracy frey - Tracy Frey is a school librarian at Thigpen-Zavala Elementary for McAllen ISD. She has been a librarian for the last four years. Previous to her being librarian she was a fourth grade teacher for Edinburg CISD where she taught fourth grade composition and grammar for nine years. She has also taught for La Joya ISD where she taught for eleven years in grades first, second and fourth. She obtained a master’s degree in early childhood and school principal certificate from the University of Texas Pan American and her school librarian certificate from Texas Woman’s University. She has presented numerous staff development sessions on Literacy Centers, Phonemic Awareness, Early Childhood Science, Fourth Grade Writing, and ESL in the Classroom. cindy cooksey-Cynthia Cooksey is a school librarian with over twelve years of library experience. She has also taught at the secondary level as an English/Language Arts instructor. She received her Masters of Library Science from Sam Houston State University and began her library career in PSJA ISD. After five years in PSJA, Cynthia relocated to McAllen ISD where she worked for three years as the Crockett Elementary librarian. When Crockett Elementary was closed, she was transferred to Dr. Pablo Perez Elementary where she has been the 7:30-4:30 librarian for the last four years. She has presented at Learning has never been so fun! Region One’s Fall Media Fair numerous times and was recently a presenter at the IB Round Table in McAllen. She was the 2011August 1, 2015 winner of the “My Librarian Rocks” Award presented by the South Texas Literacy Collation. CLAUDIA CARRANZA -Claudina Carranza is a school librarian at Seguin Elementary for McAllen ISD where she has been a librarian for eight years. In addition, she worked at Waitz Elementary in Mission CISD as a librarian for four years. Previous to her being librarian she was a sixth grade teacher for La Joya ISD where she taught English Language Arts for seven years. She has also worked for Sharyland ISD where she taught Reading to sixth graders for two years. She obtained a master’s degree in Library Science from Sam Houston State University.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS Mary Ann Lacey -Mary Ann Lacey has been an educator for 27 years. Seventeen of those years have been as librarian starting out in high school and then elementary. As a classroom teacher, she has taught 1st-6th grade children not only in Texas but in California. Ms. Lacey earned a Bachelor’s degree in what was then Pan American University and a Master’s degree in Reading at the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. Lastly, she obtained a Master’s degree in Library Science at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Ms. Lacey is a certified Reading Specialist and certified Library Media Specialist. Ms. Lacey is currently employed with McAllen ISD at Navarro Elementary. Denise Gonzales-Denise Gonzales is an Edinburg CISD's Technology Integration Specialist. Denise worked as a classroom teacher for 8 years where she served on various campus leadership groups such as Campus SBDM, Campus Accelerated Reader/ Literacy Night group, UIL sponsor for Oral Reading/Storytelling/ Spanish Poetry. She has worked as a Technology Integration Specialist for 8 years serving as a district Technology Leader with such items as coordinating & leading district-level teacher training, Erate committee, Teacher & Campus StarChart, Texas ePlan, initiating the implementation of district Video Conference equipment/ events and VBrick equipment/ events, District-Level Grant Implementation Team member for the Texas Literacy Initiative and leading the coordination/ planning for our District-Level "Innovating Teaching and Learning through Technology 7:30-4:30 Conference" along with serving as a department leader. Denise has a Bachelor's Degree from University of Texas-Pan American in Interdisciplinary Studies withLearning has never been so fun! a minor in Social Studies, a Texas Teaching Certificate August 1, 2015 for K-8th , and a Master's Degree from Lamar University in Administration. ISIDRO LERMA -Graduate of Theatre with a minor in Children's Theatre from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Has been an Educator for 6 years currently works in McAllen ISD as a middle school Theatre Arts teacher at De Leon Middle School.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS ALFREDO GONZALEZ-I am a graduate of UTPA with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts and have been a Visual Arts Teacher at De Leon Middle School for McAllen ISD for the last four years. Presented at TAEA the past 2 years. Billy Jack Garren -Billy Jack Garren currently consults the largest school districts accross the United States in their use of educational technology in alignment with Common Core as a Director of Premier Account Development for eInstruction by Turning Technologies. Mr. Garren left the classroom after demonstrating huge academic gains on state assessments. He earned "Teacher of the Year" and went on to train to train and support more than 12,000 teachers on eInstruction products and other technologies for one of the highest academic performing and largest school districts in the country. johana REsendez- Presented by teachers for teachers with love.

Albert Canales is the principal and graduate of McAllen High School. He has been a principal for six years and in education for 17 years. Students refer to him as the Twitter King. HEB Principal of the Year finalist and TCTA 7:30-4:30 nomination for Principal of the Year. He has a married and father of 1 beautiful 8 year old daughter. Learning has never been so fun! August 1, 2015 Jennifer Rodriguez “J.Rod” teaches Journalism and Credit Recovery at McAllen High School and has done so for the last eleven years. She has sponsored many clubs and organizations including Yearbook, Newspaper, Cheerleading, Junior Class among others. She is married with two kids, 16 and 11. She was recently named High School Technology Teacher of the Year for McAllen ISD.

Patty raygosa - Patty Raygosa has a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Criminal Justice, attained in 1992. She also attained K-4th grade and 4-8th grade Teaching Certificates in 2008. Patty has worked with young students for 20 years. Her experience consists of teaching 5th grade Reading and 2nd grade students. Her mission is to seek out schools that are in need of a partner to assist in providing a program that will help in making every student a dynamic reader! lizzie jarzombek -Lizzie Jarzombek is an Account Executive for Renaissance Learning, a world leader in cloud-based assessment, teaching, and learning solutions with customers in over one-third of U.S. schools and more than 60 countries worldwide. For the last 10 years, Mrs. Jarzombek has been showcasing the latest of Renaissance Learning offerings in assessments, reading, and math practice to school districts in the South Texas area. Miguel chuca -Miguel Chuca started his career teaching in 1999. He taught 6 grade math and science for three years then taught 5th grade science and social studies for 4 years. During7:30-4:30 the seven years of his teaching career he received his masters in counseling. MiguelLearning has never been so fun! was also involved in the technology integration Target Grant with Region One ESC. In 2006, Miguel Chuca got hired at Region One ESC as science specialist which August 1, 2015 included writing science curriculum for a state wide collaboration of educational service centers. He integrated technology into his trainings and during the curriculum writing. Miguel Chuca is currently a coordinator for the CIA-Learning Resources Integration department. His duties are to assist and provide technical support to districts with resources such as TSDS, DMAC, Eduphoria, STAAR One, TEKSbank, Atomic Learning and many more. Miguel Chuca also provides training and assistance on how to integrate technology into the classroom. His background experiences in curriculum, content, and pedagogy allows him to help teachers to integrate technology into the classroom.

DEMIAN MORQUIN -Professionally, I received my BS in Computer Science from the University of Texas-Pan American in 1993. After teaching math and computer science as well as coaching soccer for 5 years, I thought of changing careers, so I went back to school and graduated with a Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, also from the University of Texas-Pan American. My technology background exposed me to experience technology integration, which became one of my passions. In 2005, I started working as campus integration technologist, and that occupation led me to my current job as a learning integration resource specialist at Region One. Through the years in the field of technology integration, I became an Intel Master Trainer, a state certified teacher for Technology Applications, and endorsed on Online Instructor. As technology evolves and affects all different aspects within our society, the impact in our education system has been transforming the way we teach and learn. Personally, I believe in striving to provide a safe and secure technological setting with current technology, information resources, and training. Teaching student the passion of learning is the key to become a successful educator. maggie ojeda -Magdalena Ojeda is a Learning Resources Integration Specialist at the Region One Education Service Center located in Edinburg, Texas. She has 15 years of service in the roles of Max Tech Target/ Intel teacher and District level Technology Integration Specialist where she has implemented, trained, supported, and mentored an array of learners (students, educators, parents, campus and district administrators) in the area of educational technology. Included in her years of service, she has7:30-4:30 held administrative positions as Learning has never been so fun! DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS Jessi schultz - Jessi Schultz is an Integration Specialist for Atomic Learning, she works with districts to help them align the tools and resources to fit the needs of each technology initiative. Jessi has worked with many districts across the country making sure they have the integration planning, support and guidance needed to achieve a successful implementation. Jennifer Valero - I've been teaching middle school math for 18 years, 15 of those being at Travis Middle School in McAllen. I am certified in flip classroom and I am working on my masters in Library Science. I am always looking for ways to improve my flipped classroom experience!

Wally trevino- Wally Trevino is a specialist at Region One ESC and has been in the education field for the past twenty years. He began his career in the education as a Social Studies teachers and Librarian in La Joya ISD, Mission CISD and McAllen ISD. Wally holds a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from the University of Texas at Brownsville and is currently completing his Master’s degree in Information Systems at Our Lady of the Lake University. Wally has a passion for educational technology and holds numerous certifications in technology. These 7:30-4:30 certifications include Intel Master Teacher, MicrosoftLearning has never been so fun! DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS Diane Kahanek- Diane Kahanek, an Account Manager for Learning.com for Region 1, has vast education experience. Diane began as an elementary school teacher, then bridged into educational technology before working for Learning.com. Peggie Reimers - Peggy Reimers is Director of Professional Development with MPower Professional Learning where she develops and facilitates professional development across the curriculum with Google Apps for Education, mobile learning devices, robotics, and other current technology trends. Formally a public school teacher, she shared her passion for technology and her creative, hands-on approach with elementary students for 26 years, teaching 5th and 6th grade robotics for nine years. Peggy went on to train other tech-inspired educators for 4 years while serving as Director of Professional Development for TCEA (an ISTE Affiliate). Peggy serves on the LEGO Education Advisory Panel and is an authorized Google Education Trainer. Her super power is figuring out which LEGO minifig hides in each shiny sealed bag. monica Martinez- Monica Isabel Martinez is the Director of Professional Development in Latin America and Southern US for the EdTech Team. In this position, Monica develops and facilitates professional development on the most current technology trends for the purpose of improving teaching and learning through 7:30-4:30 innovative processes. She has developed many technology programs some of which have been adopted by Learning has never been so fun! districts, universities, and others that have been rolled out state-wide. Monica has experience teaching August 1, 2015 students and professionals at all levels including elementary, secondary, and higher education while working in the US, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Canada and Germany. Monica has a master’s degree in Educational Technology and is also a Google Apps EDU Certified Trainer and Administrator.


DAY OF THE TECH IPADPALOOZA STX PRESENTERS Paula warden- Ms. Warden has been teaching for 31 years, 17 years of which she was teaching as a classroom teacher and 14 years as a Reading Specialist. She has taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades in the classroom. She has a B.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Masters of Science in Education from Laredo State University. Lisa Simmons-Lisa Simmons is passionate about integrating technology into the classrooms of today. As an Instructional Technologist, she inspires other teachers to use technology as an effective way to make meaningful connections with students and engage learners. She works with administrators and teachers to develop and provide technology infused professional learning opportunities. Lisa holds a Master of Education degree in Administration and is a 19 year veteran teacher. Her experience in education includes years in elementary music, general education, special education, and six years in the Instructional Technology and Professional Learning department of a growing K-12 school district in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. Lisa is a Microsoft Innovated Educator Master Trainer. She shares Microsoft products and tools during her training sessions and demonstrates ways teachers can use them to integrate 21st Century skills into their classrooms and help students find innovative ways to accomplish tasks and reach goals. 7:30-4:30 PVarina pressword-Varina Presswood has been in education for 25 years as a teacher, trainer, presenter, and Learning has never been so fun! curriculum expert. She has worked in educational technology for 15 years working with innovative companies August 1, 2015 around games and digital curriculum for the classroom. Varina is an Education Solutions Strategist for Amplify and continues to strive to help schools integrate technology for the success of students.
