MID SURVIVOR SPEAKS by Nicole Fishman
My purpose was born out of pain.
My name is Nicole Fishman. I am a survivor of domestic violence which I endured for 10 years. My abuser began showing signs of abuse our junior year in high school but not knowing these were signs, they went unchecked. We ended up going to college where the physical and emotional abuse became overt. Though I recognized what was happening was wrong, I stayed. There were times when the violence would “go away,” but it always returned. Years later, after marriage and three children, I made the decision to save my life and my children, and I left my home with nothing but our clothes. I believe that the trauma that I endured is not in vain. I understood my life was a testimony for someone else. It took being triggered in January 2018 for me to recognize that my trauma was impacting me and had been for many years. I know that I have been given a voice to share my story with others and to educate others on the symptoms, outcomes, and consequences of domestic abuse from a humanistic point of view. I started my company Pillow Talk Pretty Things, LLC as a platform to share my story and to provide resources for housing and financial support for domestic violence victims. A huge component of my work is working with teens. I speak at girls and women’s conferences about domestic violence prevention and educate them on the warning signs. In my role as Multi-tier System of Support (MYSS) District Coordinator for my school district, I advocate strongly for trauma-informed Instruction because many of our youth have been impacted and exposed to domestic violence in their homes. In our efforts to heal the whole child we must address their social and emotional lives, so they are able to thrive academically. In 2019, I will be planning a.retreats exclusively for teen and women survivors. My goal is to give a voice to those who are afraid to share their story. Concurrently, I host a radio show on intellectualradio.com that raises domestic violence awareness. Ultimately my purpose was born out of pain. What I hope for in my work is for my pain to be the catalyst to someone else’s freedom.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR by Cynthia Freeman Gibbs
Cynthia Freeman Gibbs began writing in 2016 after a layoff in 2015 from a career she had for 22 years. She finished writing her first book in four months and was determined to find a publisher. She began the difficult search for either a publisher or agent accepting contemporary fiction manuscripts.
Cynthia Freeman Gibbs
In February 2018, the San Antonio Alumnae Chapter hosted Victoria Christopher Murray and ReShonda Tate Billingsley as featured authors for their Arts and Letters Committee book club event. These two authors own Brown Girls Books Publishing which was one of the publishers Cynthia was interested in, however, they were closed to submissions due to the large number of monthly submissions they received.
Fortunately, the Arts and Letters Committee scheduled a dinner for thirty people with ReShonda and Victoria which Cynthia attended the night before the book club event. She and her husband prayed for her to be bold and confident in presenting her work at the dinner and for the opportunity to discuss. She prepared customized query letters and sample chapters which she gave to them at dinner. ReShonda read her packet immediately while Victoria questioned Cynthia about herself and goals. ReShonda requested Cynthia’s full manuscript, and thankfully, since it was completed, Cynthia emailed it to her after the dinner. The next day, after Victoria and ReShonda finished their book review with over 130 members of various book clubs, they announced their offer to make Cynthia Freeman Gibbs their newest Brown Girls Books author! Her book Reasonable Insanity- A Dr. Olivia C. Maxwell Novel, was published and released on September 12th. Cynthia’s advice to aspiring authors, “Pray, prepare, stay the course, and enjoy the journey.”
ABOUT THE BOOK More than meets the eye On the outside, clinical psychologist, Dr. Olivia C. Maxwell appears to live a life others only dream about. She has a sexy husband, a big house, luxury cars, two gorgeous children and she attends all the see-and-be-seen events. To add to the mix, she is beautiful, tall, fit, and intelligent. But what people can't see is that inside, Olivia is living a nightmare... Read More: http://www.cynthiafreemangibbs.com

Living vicariously through our sisters as they complete a perfect MID thousands of miles in the air for the love of sisterhood. Look how they have taken us with them on their journey. Is this on your bucket list Sorors? Share your photos with us.
Greek Love
I Found them, we are in love, and Greek Being in love and spending the rest of your life with that special someone is amazing but when they are also a part of the Pan-Hellenic Council it makes it a lot easier. They understand what it means to spend time with your Sorors, attending homecoming, and why you get a little louder and overly excited when you are around your greek sisters. Watching your love-one in a different setting than usual can be a little attractive. There is nothing like Greek Love. by: Alana Sanders
SLID INTO HIS DM ON MYSPACE
Soror, Monique Wright Hudson I was attending law school in Louisiana at SU but working in Tampa the during the summer of 2005. I heard about a Sigma party in Orlando at UCF. So, I went to the search feature on MySpace, put in Sigma, an Orlando zip code, and a minimum height of 6ft, and there he was! I messaged him. Turned out, his profile was set using his mom's address and he had no clue about the party because she was living in Tampa, not Orlando. He offered to show me around Tampa that summer but we never caught up. I graduated the next summer and slid in his DM (before it was a thing) and asked if I could still get the tour. He obliged and the rest is [our]story. That was my last first date!
Mama told me to stay away from those Ques.. Soror, Sherria Miller I met my husband during my freshman year at Winthrop University in the fall of 2007. I was afraid to talk to him because my soror mom told me not to date any Omegas. We were both biology majors and we had a class right across the hall and he would always wait to speak and I would run inside the classroom. He was there when I crossed in Fall 2009. We started dating in 2013 and married in December 2017. We are expecting our first baby in February!
We meet after a Greek Show Soror, Michelle Smith Cofield We pledged Spring 1986 but we ‘connected’ the following summer. We connected after an all Greek step show at Project Uplift at unc Chapel Hill. Engaged December 25, 1990. Married November 30, 1991. Two children later... This pic was taken at our daughter’s wedding this summer. (Coleman Love)
