design statement

Achievements

The words that describe my design are simplicity and functionality. I believe that design is much more than form making, arbitrary aesthetics or problem solving, it is meant to be a value adding preposition. Without that and function, beauty is negligible and I am a firm believer of that. Once a proper preposition is established along with the function, the beauty in my work will start to . arise. I carry a human centered approach in my work aiming to make a difference in the everyday lives of people. Why don't we work together? Go further down to see why I'm the man you need to hire!

|bus stop Semester - 1

We had been asked to re-design a bustop near our college campus in kolhapur . Following the contemporary style i have attempted to create a picturesque bustop framing the open land behind it .

This project is located at Panhala, a hill station. It was important to design a structure which created a relationship between built space and the natural unbuilt space. The main concept behind the design was to make the structure composite and also radiate ecological sustainability. The design doesn't comprise of fragmentary elements. The plans are choreographed well to allow flow, include, exclude, screen within the spaces and spaces without. Huge windows are provided to differentiate the scale between them in an element of juxtapositioning between the one that opens and the ones that doesn't.

The large space in the ground floor consists of living (formal, informal), kitchen dining and guest room. The smaller informal room gives family some private space which is attached to a sit-out. On the above floor the area is provided dedicated to its use, which consists of 3 bedrooms and a family lounger too which can be used as a home theatre space. The two houses are linked with a sit-out which can be accessed through the master bedroom which also acts as a high lightening feature in the shown elevation. Usage of pergola also creates an opportunity to play with shades and shadows.

|commercial complex Semester - 4

The site is located in the northern part of Kolhapur which enjoys a moderate climate. The dimensions of the site are 40m x 50m (2000 sqm) and its surrounded by empty land. A number of factors were taken into consideration while designing such as services, parking, entry and exit spaces of the building, ventilation systems, air flow and the positions of the slab cut outs amongst other things The entry to the commercial complex is made very open with landscaped area around it which gives the user a visual relief.

Ground Floor Plan

Typical Floor Plan

Ground floor of the building was designed with at most keen observations, as it creates the first impression of the design. There are courtyards which are surrounded by cafĂŠ and also a capsule lift which makes the ambience better.

Section BB

The attrium has a massive sky light which is provided to make sure there is enough natural light welcomed into each floor and to light up the passages and offices around. There are enough number of windows provided to encourage the process of the "STACK EFFECT". The ground floors accomodate the cafe and shops. The first and second floors house the showrooms and banks whereas the third floor has offices and an eatery for the staff. Elevation XX
