Les Paul Gehman Auctions To Hold Two Speciality Sales Gibson Junior Electric Antique Advertising And Vintage Train And Toys To Be Sold On Feb. 24 And 25 By Karl Pass Shane Gehman and the crew of Gehman Auctions based in Ephrata, Pa., are holding backto-back online speciality sales on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24 and 25. Day one will begin at 11 a.m. through HiBid and consist of antique and vintage advertising. Material included will be signs and ephemera from Coca Cola, RC Cola, CASE, 7-UP, various cigarette advertising, automotive advertising, vases, vintage holiday items such as Easter and Christmas decorations, beer advertising signs featuring Sunshine and Reading, antique marbles, early U.S. currency, and much more.

Witman Auctioneers Inc., based in Manheim, Pa., held an auction of decoys, musical instruments, and tools on Tuesday, Jan. 9, in Havre De Grace, Md. There were 247 registered bidders, and here are a few of the star lots. A Gibson Les Paul Junior electric guitar was the top seller, bringing $8,030. A Gibson Dove guitar sold for $2,750, and a Gibson ETC 150 guitar, $1,320. A Fairbanks banjo realized $940, while a Guild acoustic guitar, $830. A pair of working duck decoys went for $500; an embroidered silk Japanese jacket, $410; and a vintage metal Craftsman machinist tool box, $290. A cylinder roll top desk sold for $170; a Sandrite drum sander, $170; and a double door bookcase brought $130. For further information, call Witman Auctioneers at 717-665-5735.

Modernist Fernand Leger (1881-1955) Painting Sells For $10,980 At Embassy By Karl Pass Embassy Auctions International held a large sale on Jan. 11 billed as an eclectic estates auction. Eclectic, it was, and prices realized were strong in many categories. Prices include buyer’s premium. Known for his modernist work, a signed Fernand Leger (1881-1955) “Composition” gouache-on-paper was the highest selling lot, bringing $10,980. Very collectible among watch buyers, a Dudley Masonic Model 1 pocket watch realized $3,965.
