Locati LLC of Maple Glen, Pa., presented its first online sale of 2020 from Jan. 6 to 20. With nearly 300 lots, this sale featured estate jewelry, fine art, furniture, silver and more from various collections and estates from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. “Our January sale had a good selection of material from local collections and estates,” said Michael Locati, co-owner of Locati LLC. “Some pieces of better quality did many times our estimates. This included two micro mosaic plaques that sold for a total of $11,000 and an unusual gold and horn box that sold for over $6,000.”

In border regions, character traits in design can often transfer and be reinterpreted. One glaring exception has been the divergent furniture styles of England and France since the Middle Ages. Prior to the 17th century, when the influence of the Italian Renaissance set the tone for furniture design in much of Europe, a pattern remained consistent even across the English Channel. However, moving into the 17th century, there was a sharp divergence, particularly in French design.
