Alderfer Auction To Shine A Light On Pennsylvania Impressionists Sept. 28 Sale Will Feature Variety Of Walter Baum Paintings, Among Work From Other Artists By Karen S. Murray Alderfer Auction’s upcoming Fine and Decorative Arts Auction on Thursday, Sept. 28, will feature some exceptional and very collectible works of art. Among them will be several paintings by Pennsylvania Impressionist Walter Emerson Baum (18841956), who was part of an esteemed group of artists referred to as This Walter Baum oil-on-canvas winter farm scene is 16-by-20 the Bucks County inches. An exceptional collection of coins and bank notes was sold unreserved at Horst Auction Center on Aug. 26. A segment of the collection consisted of choice and scarce Lancaster County, Pa., bank notes. Strong prices were achieved throughout the sale, with 88 out of the 506 lots selling for over $1,000. The auction house registered 236 in-house bidders with an additional 2,133 online bidders. Horst does not charge a buyer’s premium. “We feel that we offer consigners the best chance at top dollar for their items because we have no buyer’s premium,” said Derek Horst. Think of children’s classics and what comes to mind? Books like “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Cat in the Hat?” Characters like Winnie the Pooh and Raggedy Anne? That’s exactly what the Haddon Heights Antiques Center was thinking when it mounted its current special sale display with a children’s classics theme. Not only are numerous famous children’s books for sale, but all sorts of literary characters in toy and figural form are available. The special display is filled with characters from fairy tales such as “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Cinderella,” and “Snow White,” along with characters from nursery rhymes such as “Humpty Dumpty” and characters from

Disney classics like “Lady and the Tramp.” It’s a colorful, nostalgiadriven display that will appeal to young and old alike. The Haddon Heights Antiques Center has been delighting collectors of all ages for nearly 25 years with two floors full of treasures in all price ranges. The multi-dealer shop is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Fridays. Located on Clements Bridge Road where Barrington and Haddon Heights meet at the railroad tracks, the shop is easily accessible from I-295 and other major highways in Camden County, N.J.
