The image of the presidency is the result of an international competition for ideas, which was held simultaneously by the three countries that will successively hold the presidency from 1 January 2010 to 31 June 2011, the team presidency: Spain, Belgium and Hungary. The competition was to create a unique logo for the 18 months, which is made up of a common element, 'eu', and three individual elements, the colours of each country's flag, which will give an individual identity to the six months in which each country will hold the presidency.
