Les Antònies we will not tire of repeating you that one of them most used by thepatchwork figures is the star. In this tutorial we want to teach a fun, colourful and useful way to take profit of the scraps to make a star with a kaleidoscopic effect when you join a few blocks. The materials we needed to make a block are: 4 squares of 12cmX12cm in a plain colour (we have used white pique) and 12 pieces of different lengths of 3cm of width. In this case you can take advantage of any varied scrap and play as you want; we have done this to coordinated, but is not obligatory.
As you will see that it is very easy to do. We begin by drawing on one of the squares of 12cmX12cm the way you see, diagonally, left to each side 5 cm (1); this is our guide. We can begin to sew the strips: take one of the longest and put above the line drawn and sew (2), open and repeat the operation with the second longest strip (3); note that we will be alternating the sides. Continue adding strips: the third (4) on the first; the fourth on the second (5); the fifth above the third (6) and ended up with the sixth over of the fourth (7). Ironing (8), turn and cut the excess (9). Now we repeat the process with the other 3 squares. When we have the mini blocks finished positioning (10) and join: the two above together and the two below, also, together (11); we already have the two parts (12) and sew together (13).
Ensure that the central star is very accurate, ​
although some of the cuts do not match exactly; nothing happens if you don't get all the facing strips. With this we have finished the block (14) and we get the kaleidoscopic effect when unite, at least four blocks (15). We leave measurements and samples of fabrics, but you know that you can improvise, we only suggest. We hope to inspire you with this idea.
