FLOATING HOUSE ACADEMIC | INDIVIDUAL| HOUSE DESIGN SIZE: 250m2 | SITE: NORTH-EASTERN POLAND The floating house is an approach to develop building design with minimal impact on environment and show alternative options for housing. Entire building is located on a surface of a lake in north-eastern Poland. Shape and placement of building are imitating sailboat, which creates intimate area for family and friends providing good view to natural lanscape from the rooftop. Design connects colour-matching materials, like light concrete, wood and glass with surrounding environment to not interfere animals’ habitats with too flashy form.

MUSEUM OF SLAVIC ARTS ACADEMIC | INDIVIDUAL| BACHELOR’S GRADUATION PROJECT SIZE: 1867m2 | SITE: LVIV, UKRAINE Slavic culture is rich in beautiful pieces of arts and crafts, but this culture of many centuries common for slavic countries is not shown in many places any longer. Museum of Slavic Arts in Lviv was designed to remind about art which is essential part of our past. Site between Lviv National Scientific Library of Ukraine and first post office in Lviv, according to archaeological research, was supposed to be one of slavic “places of power”, which makes it approporiate place for this kind of building. Main problem with design was to create structure resembling spirit of old times in a modern way and keep existing square as a place where people can meet at the same time. To achieve that, main, cylindrical part of building was moved below ground level leaving only entrance part visible from street view. As a reminder of similiar places, which were usually stone circles, whole building is made of cast concrete with stone cladding with green roof.

PROGRAM Symbol of circle, especially in old beliefs, had a lot of meanings. However meaning could be different according to region, symbol remained the same. According to that most important exhibition rooms have plan based on circle. On the lowest floor it is central exhibition room with surrounding smaller exhibition rooms on both -2 and -1 levels. This area is designed to keep guests’ attention on most important, central part of current exhibition. Non-circular part of building, visible also above ground level is designed to keep main flow of people out of exhibit rooms. It contains storage and restoration rooms, communication paths and other necessary facilities with entrance, offices and reception on the ground level.
