My typeface «Gerard» started from a typographic exercise. I created a new Font starting from the methods of the writing of the past centuries by practice with a broad-nib pen in which the writing techniques were invented and refined. During the design process, I selected other contemporary Serif fonts, and I applied some peculiarities of the latter to the exercise previously carried out to merge different characteristics of different centuries. Based on my calligraphic hand drawings, I made the technical implementation of my «Typeface» into an editable «Font» with Adobe Illustrator, Astute Graphics PlugIns, FontSelf and Glyphs App. The name I decided to give to my new font is Gerard. In the Type Specimen, I applied different effects to present my typeface which are shown together with some explanations and analysis of the characteristics in Type Specimen.
