A typeface created with handwritten letter structure and digital serifs. My typeface «Skansom» started with a calligraphy workshop held by calligrapher Eva Pöll (www.kallos.at), during which I practised handwriting, adopting typographic styles of the past centuries using the traditional broad-nib pen. The next step was to extrapolate the skeleton of my handwriting and reinvent it through a process of hybridisation with a typeface digitally available on my computer. I chose to implement my handmade font with some serifs and peculiarities of the «Minion» typeface. Technically, I used Adobe Illustartor, Astute Graphics PlugIns and Glyphs App to create the structure of my hybrid typeface. Then, I used FontSelf to transform my vectors into an editable font that could finally be installed and used in any computer. The idea behind the poster is to communicate the gentle contrast between humanistic and digital, which was the main feature of the resulting font.
