Observations Participating locals tend to focus on events in their own street. Active locals are not representative for their neighbourhood Current initiatives often focus on immediate, short term issues such as littering or vandalism.

Service design blueprint

Social capital Locals got to know their neighbours better New neighbours were met Involvement of professionals and investors, brought in by initiators and area networkers Social ties become tangible and therefore stronger

Outcome The steps towards the realisation of a liveability-related goal are as valuable as, if not more valuable than the eventual results.

A new dialogue Initiatives will have to structure their activities.

Civil servants will need to empathise with local initiators.
