Reinventing Rust Belt.
Rethinking Rust. Realizing Green. Hamilton is no longer served by reacting to market conditions, mimicking sprawling suburbs, or disinvesting in our infrastructure. Hamilton’s future lies in channeling the very character that built it – through pioneering disruptive industries. Today, Hamilton produces 49% of our energy through carbon-free methods. In 2014, we will generate 70% and, in 2015, 100% of our energy will be renewable. Hamilton is on a trajectory to produce carbon free energy at extremely competitive market rates. Coupled with the projection that Southwest Ohio will lead the State’s growth in new green jobs, Hamilton is well-situated to become central to that growth through expanding its current green industry cluster, focusing on accelerating sustainable enterprises, and partnering with local universities to build a well-trained green collar workforce.

Critical for successful attraction, however, is providing meaningful employment opportunities; and, it would be a missed opportunity if we did not fully leverage our carbon-free energy to rebuild Hamilton’s economic prosperity, and America’s sustainability.
