Freelancing Work I believe architecture is an important eld that can make a signicant visible impact on our surroundings, people's life and society in general. The vigorous programs and practical training have considerably broadened my understanding in architecture. After graduation, I joined Footprints EARTH, Ahmedabad where I got the opportunity to work on various projects from urban design, institutional, residential to interiors projects. Having worked on projects from its initial design stage to completion, I have understood the importance of organisation, teamwork and responsibility. This portfolio complies a selection of projects from my professional and academic architectural career so far.

01 Project Brief
Design Concerns/interpretations
The Campus is not simply about constructing a shelter or fulď€ lling the function through physical space. It is as much about evoking emotions and inducing experience. Passive responses for environment management are introduced through architectural design. The two different scale has been designed according to the students' age. The spherical class rooms have been proposed as Kindergarten. The client had the vision to develop a school complex in the small city of Khargone where the built environment should act as the medium to enhance learning. The design of the school complex is done considering passive design strategies to maintain a healthy learning environment. The classrooms are arranged in clusters to form common courts leading to interaction among students. Special attention is given to the building forms by providing a dome shaped kindergarten and inverted cone shaped library blocks.

The Library block is placed at the centre of the complex surrounded by water channel such that it is easily accessible. The unique geometry of the block enhances the quality of the spaces.
The alcove windows are provided at west facades to prevent direct sunlight. The fenestration on the north and south maintains diffused sunlight in the interior spaces. This reduces the heat transfer thereby providing thermal insulation in the classrooms.

Kindergarten block - Nurturing mind through interactive learning Concept
Design Approach The design of this playschool - kindergarten took inspiration from these traditional practices of guru-shishya teaching under the shade of a tree.
Informal Sitting
Interactive & Playful Environment
Learning Through Geometry
The form is an organic assembly of a cluster of curves, much like carved out spaces inside a cave and thus becomes a natural intuitive space rather than strict, conditioned geometry. Keeping in mind child psychology and an inspiring, interactive environs necessary for learning, the cave like form provides opportunity for a variety of spaces and volumes with varying spatial syntax, all rendered timeless with the continuous play of natural elements of land, water, vegetation and space. Natural earth berming and mounding help insulate the spaces and provide natural cooling. The microclimate is further managed and maintained by the use of natural water bodies and ponds, shade through fruit bearing and powering trees that also make the place interactive and allow for natural conditioning for the kids. The form has been achieved with ferrocement shells with a mezzanine partoor on top that also acts as a resting space for the kids in the afternoon. The whole design revolves around child ergonomics, from the furniture to inbuilt seating to games and play areas.
Construction Method of Ferro-cement
1. Marking and centerline on site
2. Laying of foundation and base grid
3. Formwork setup and achieving preliminary shape and form
4. First layer of cement post wire mesh
5. Windows and overhangs
6. Adding service and circulation cores
7. Applying second layer of cement and post construction curing
8. Landscaping and outdoor elements, thermal insulation through earth berming.

Design Concept MICA's campus was originally designed by Architect Anant Raje. Our practise took part in a competition to design a new campus masterplan, which we won. The proposed MICA campus extension has been designed in such a manner that it can integrate with existing campus. The proposed design includes a hostel block, faculty residences, academic block and open-air theatre. The campus is oriented towards the existing canal to enjoy beauty of the nature. The idea is to get the maximum view of the cannel from campus and connect the buildings not only from ground but also from upper oors through a bridge. The faculty residence and guest house building are also directly connected through a bridge, which is almost 400m jogging bridge. The director of MICA wanted the campus to merge with nature and also to follow the IGBC norms in designing the master plan.

Possible Classroom Arrangements
The main academic block was originally designed by Ar. Anat Raje in 1992. Due to legality we’ve proposed the academic block on the rst oor of the original design. The idea is to give open space/balcony to each professors which directly opens up into outdoor.
The conventional seminar hall have the typical steps for seating arraignments to make it more inteactual and lively. We have proposed 3 platform which can be a used for multiple activities, along with proposed indoor plants which purify the indoor air.

An ideal development of ghat not only for the people of Mahuva but its visitors as well. Rather than creating a conventional step we’ve proposed a platform down to river. These platforms include the senior citizen park, interactive oor games for children, amphitheatre for public events and gathering, meditation space etc. This platform can be also used as the informal space for kiosk and weekend market. Water is a major element for this development and so we’ve created a different experience of it such as a lilly pond, kund (steps), a deck which extended to river. When all these features come together, it creates a unique smart river front development for the society.
River Side Development , Ghat Government is going to built dam to conserved water and developed a smart riverfronts module for recreational and religious activities for town.

About This volume documents traditional and vernacular courtyard dwelling types across India within diverse climatic, cultural as well as geographic zones such as western (Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra), southern (TamilNadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa), eastern (Bihar, West Bengal), central (Madhya Pradesh) and northern (Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir). It then discerns the spatial elements constituting the court, and the arts, the crafts as well as the elements integral to the court. My main contribution to the publication was to make graphic for Madhya Pradesh and architectural photography. This book is yet to be published. Page I 230 Traditional Courtyard Houses of India

20 Viewing at the interior of bungalow I have planned in a way where spaces on every oor gets natural light and cross ventilation with adjoining green balconies which they can approach. Along with it I have also kept in mind about cross communication happening on every oor which is the key factor of its planning. In addition to that, there is a double height spaces, common spaces and private sitting spaces with natural green balconies which comforts client’s standard of living giving it a feeling of open and grand from inside when the client or visitors look at it. All together I have designed the bungalow in a way that even though the plot size seems small, but the design makes it more glamorous and grand.

Academic Work Design Thesis: The Guardian’s Garden, Ahmedabad, India
22 Proposal Indian culture is known for its age-old traditions and beliefs in joint family system which plays an important role in children’s personality development. Due to urbanization and the fast life of the growing society joint families split into nuclear. Due to this, only the elderly suffers from loneliness and negligence and the same problem is suffered by the orphans as they lack love and compassion from the family.
So getting to my idea now — why not explore the merger of old-age home and orphanage ?
A well designed dwelling and interaction space which can help in the interaction of the two extremes which can help in building of a better society. The interaction of the old people and the children can prove quite fruitful if an appropriate structured dwelling is provided to them with a comfortable communicative environment.
Site Analysis Ahmedabad is the safest city in the world, prime reasons are it being a dry state so there are fewer nuisances of drunkards and hence women and children feel safe here. The future planned growth of Ahmedabad is being carried out towards the west and north-west of Ahmedabad. The proposed site is in “bhat” which is one of the developing areas in Ahmedabad. The name GUARDIANS' GARDEN for this project is signicantly given to emphasise the importance of a guardian in a child's life whose innocence is described with a resemblance to a garden of innocent children who can get care and love of its guardian. The garden needs a gardener to grow and to beautify, the same way a child needs a guardian in his life.

Design development The idea is to develop not a typical campus but a concept of Indian street culture where the orphans and elderly can interact yet keep their own privacy. The campus is designed around the main street to give more access to everyone and generate a healthier environment. The campus is also open to everyone, so even outside visitor are welcome to interact and spend time with the residence. The street creates a direct visual connection to river Sabarmati.

Idea is not to emphasis the privacy of semi-public of each group, because it won’t give them opportunity to interact with eachother. Therefore my idea of designing would be creating a cluster which directly opens up into the central space.

Studio Brief
Urban Intervantion
The aim of this urban design studio is to understand urban design at a Regional Level, the complex issues and the process of decision making while formulating a programme for the urban design project by the study of Transects as a tool. The objective behind the creation of AVKUDA was to promote a planned & controlled urban development in the developing areas of Anand, Vallabh Vidynagar and Karamsad.
The transect deď€ ne a series of zone that transition from sparse rural farmhouses to the dense urban core. Each zone is fractal in that it contains a similar transition from the edge to the center of neighborhood. Following aspects of study area can be taken into account on basis of city level study. the analysis was carried out using the node study which included history, physical, socio-economic, heritage, land use, infrastructure, enviromental studies of the site.
Site plan showing Transect
Land Use Plan
Transect Study Base map The transect start from the core city, then it runs along the outer city core ,the sub urban zone, and ď€ nally ends a the rural fringe
Built Up There is a variation in density of built up as we move along the transect. It is denser at the core. It gets sparsely dense at the outer core of the city
Roads The road network is showing that there is a planned network of road in city. Towards rural area there is less connectivity of roads. There is no legibility.
Section The house typology and character of buildings change along the transect.
Height Matrix The height matrix almost remain constant with a certain variation along the industrial area.
Topography The topography varies frequently along the transect making the need for a good drainage system.

Proposal With the gigantic growth in the urbanization, the population has increased on an alarming rate. This in turn has increased the amount of residential and commercial spaces. Although importance to a lot of extracurricular activities has been given, there isn't ample amount of space to express every talented individual's talent. Even if the space is provided to each, then there is very negligible chance that each of those people will be able to pay the expenses as per the required amount to exhibit their creativity.
1. Animals makes the street movement chaotic.
The spaces available in the city which are actually vacant are unfortunately misused for waste dumping Areas, junkyards, etc. instead of that, if these spaces would have been utilized for a better recreational purpose, then it would have highlighted the outlook of the city. The idea of the project is to solely create a platform, a base for a major creative adaptation which would contribute majorly to the city. The area chosen for this project is located at the junction of Anand Vidhyanagar road, opposite town hall.
2. No space for parking and lack of infrastructure .

Studio brief Today's housing that we all live in are well designed in amenities but still we feel a need of more than comfort. The thing above comfort is a feeling of community and society. Places like Diu help us get that feeling when we see a society relaxing at beaches or resorts and their seaside villas or on the streets.
12
The aim was to design a different typology keeping the Portuguese architecture, climate and exciting topographical condition in mind and design a housing community in Diu. 6 11

Academic Work Institutional Studio: School Design, Bhuj, India

Studio brief
A
The main emphasis of this studio was to design climate responsive institutional building/school. The site is located in Bhuj, Gujarat of which the climate is hot and dry.
Design Approach:
1
The orientation of the building is such that the walls no longer face north or south, hence getting minimum solar exposure. The ratio of height vs width is maintained in the design and to make the 12
courtyard more active and live ponds as well as vegetation is provided. The campus was divided into four parts; primary, secondary, higher secondary and the common spaces (computer lab, library). The idea of the design is to give privacy of each age groups by providing small courtyard which is surrounded by classrooms. The core of the design is the central courtyard, where common activities like prayer, festival celebration, assemblies, etc are going to take place and it has also a visual connection to the internal courtyard.

Photography and live sketching are two crucial aspect of me analysing, understanding and capturing a space, a building or even a moment that our eyes might miss. Here are a selection of architectural and non architectural photographs and sketched that has directly or indirectly inspired my design process in many ways.
