Packed with well-known pop songs, brilliant dance routines, lots of audience participation and plenty of laughter for all the family! So click those heels together and book your tickets now.

The dramatic overture to Coriolan begins with power and confidence, but by the close the music has fragmented into silence. Brahms’ titanic concerto was written partly during the final years of his mentor Schumann’s life. Its stormy outer movements are separated by a slow movement of stillness and beauty.

£20, four tickets £69 Over 65s, under 16s and f/t students £18 (includes £1 booking fee)

Elgar’s variations are fond musical descriptions of close friends, varying from the serious ‘Nimrod’ (his publisher) to the romantic and delicate C.A.E. (his wife), concluding with an energetic and confident self-portrait.

Who Do You Think I Am?

TELL ME ON A SUNDAY

It never really bothered me that I’d never met my mum.

starring Jodie Prenger

Featuring the best young musical talent the UK has to offer, the NCO makes a welcome return for their first 2016 appearance with the Under 13 Orchestra.

It never occurred to me I needed to meet her to ‘find out who I was’, as it didn’t seem likely I’d discover I was someone different to who I thought I was. Could it turn out I spoke Italian, supported Arsenal or had a fear of Liquorice Allsorts?

Tell Me on a Sunday charts the romantic misadventures of a young English girl in New York in the heady days of the 1980s. Brimming with optimism, she seeks success and love. But as she weaves her way through the maze of the city and her own anxieties, frustrations and heartaches she begins to wonder whether she’s been looking for love in all the wrong places. This much-loved musical features the chart-topping Take That Look off your Face and the title track Tell Me on a Sunday.

This hundred-strong orchestra, with no player older than 13, is sure to reignite your passion for classical music and leave you confident of its future in their hands. £23, £19, £16 Over 65s £2 off, f/t students £11, under 16s £6 (includes £1 booking fee)

Rachmaninov The Isle of the Dead Prokofiev Piano Concerto no. 2 Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances Boris Berezovsky piano Vladimir Ashkenazy The Isle of the Dead depicts the ghostly ferryman of Greek mythology rowing the souls of the departed to judgement. Prokofiev’s thrilling second piano concerto contains a fizzing scherzo, a march-like slow movement, and a helter-skelter finale, all put together with unforgettable virtuosity.

Fri 15 Apr, 8pm

The Symphonic Dances was the last orchestral piece Rachmaninov completed. The three contrasting movements – a sinister march, a hesitant waltz and a fantastic dance – are written with a wealth of imagination, leading to a moving and personal conclusion.

Wind instruments take centre stage in this concert. Mozart’s Symphony no. 33 was written immediately after the composer returned from a stay in France and is a delightful work with an effervescent finale. The special timbres and colours produced by period instruments are attracting composers to write new music with their sound in mind, and Michael Gordon’s concerto will be a fascinating example of this. The second half of the concert encompasses one of Mozart’s first, and his last, orchestral works. Stephen Johnson’s short opening work is based on characters from The Master and Margarita, Bulgakov’s masterpiece. Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony is a richly-scored masterpiece. Handel Theodora

THE TIBETAN MONKS of the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery and NGAWANG LODUP

David Gibson conductor

See page 5 for details

The Hanover Band

First performed in 1750, this oratorio in three parts was Handel’s penultimate composition and his personal favourite. It is a profound and thought-provoking piece with a Christian subject, and is acknowledged to contain some of the composer’s finest music. Rarely performed when first written, Theodora is now recognised as a masterpiece thanks to high profile performances at Glyndebourne, the Paris Opera and several recordings by major orchestras. Quite different in mood from Handel’s other well-known oratorios, this is a rich, emotional work of matchless beauty from the pen of a mature composer, who considered the final chorus of Act II, He saw the lovely youth, as being ‘far beyond’ the beloved Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah. We are delighted to be joined, on this occasion, by the Hanover Band, which comprises some of the best period instrument specialists in the UK. £26, £20, £15, £11 Under 16s and f/t students £6 (includes £1 booking fee) Hanover Band appear by kind permission of the Hanover Band Foundation

ROMEO AND JULIET by William Shakespeare directed by Ross Harvie So soon forsaken? Young men’s love then lies Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes… This telling explores what love means to different generations and interrogates what sort of society we are creating for the future. In a world where people fall in and out of love over social media, this production explores forbidden love in today’s society. Should we all be expected to grow up and get married? And what do we really mean when we say the ‘L’ word? Join us for a turbulent journey of love and tragedy, following the story of two rebels who reject the system and fall in love… or so they think. £10 Under 16s and f/t students £8 (includes £1 booking fee)

Celebration Concert: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Cinderella and Rockerfella

Showtime 2016

A thrilling gala concert to celebrate over three decades of world-class youth choral singing, as 200 past and present members of the Farnham Youth Choir family combine to perform favourites from the choir’s spectacular history.

A modern, panto-style reworking of the classic tale with all the traditional characters: downtrodden Cinderella, Rockerfella (formerly known as Prince Charming), Buttons, the Ugly Sisters and the Fairy Godmother, together with a selection of additional characters, from music managers and paparazzi to good and bad fairies – all placed in a world of fame and celebrity.

Fusion Dance Academies return once again bringing back the variety and diversity of many different dance styles under one roof.
