Pasadena, CA This is a 14-unit residential complex located in the middle of Pasadena. Project was started as an adaptation of Seijo Apartments by Kazuye Sejima and Associates, but was eventually developed to ďŹ t the site and the program. Each unit is a walk-up type, constisting of three onestory modules, connected and manipulated differently according to the location of each particular unit. All units have extensive private outdoor areas that ďŹ ll in the spaces between buildings, tying up the indoors and outdoors on the ground level.

EXPLORATION OF A GRID Winter 2017, instructor Alexander Pang The idea behind the project was to explore architectural tool of preference. Simple grid was evaluated through the variation of a single module by the use of shape, color and/or curves in order to achieve variety within resulting drawing and model.

Three Temples Fall 2016, semester abroad in Taiwan Taipei, Taiwan Project’s goal was to reprogram three old temples located in the expat Shilin district of Taipei to suit the current agenda better. Shilin district is populated with immigrants from United States, Europe and Japan. It also has many foreign embassies. As a result, the population is split between three main religions: christianity, islam and buddhism. To respond to this, three temples were reprogrammed into a buddhist temple, a christian church, and an islamic mosque. Unified by a wooden gridded structure, visitors are aware of each others presence, yet each temple has a good amount of privacy.

Mt. Wilson, CA This project acts as a temporary home for two astronomers working at Mt.Wilson. Even though it primarily has a residential purpose, it also functions as an educational visitor center whenever students come to visit the Mt. Wilson observatory. The project evolves itself programmatically from east to west, gradually changing from public to private spaces. This, along with wide windows creates a space that is open and yet easily accessible for privacy. Project acts as a horizontal plane with a series of voids perpendicular to it. Plane and voids are connected in several places to form folded planes and create a connection between levels by housing the existing trees.
