ГОРОДСКИЕ ИССЛЕДОВАНИЯ И ДИЗАЙН. ДИЗАЙН И ПРОЕКТИРВАНИЕ ОБЩЕСТВЕННЫХ ПРОСТРАНСТВ URBAN RESEARCH AND DESIGN OF PUBLIC SPACES

THE MAP IS NOT A TERRITORY. BEYOND PARNAS. The WORKSHOP was to attend to the current contemporary market agenda in Saint-Petersburg that has established ultra-high density housing development in the outskirts of the city as a new paradigm, increasing territory consumption, disconnection of these isolated settlements from the rest of the city and defining the contemporary housing as a ‘product’ or object to be consumed, only linked to the market forces. The workshop focusES on the research of contemporary housing conditions and on the relocation of the requested density in the interstitial spaces of the city in order to improve its urban quality. We will be working around three fundamental poles: 1. RE-CONNECTING: In a city of complex and contradictory interventions through time, that has defined diverse fragments and gaps between different urban tissues and infrastructures, connectivity has become an urgent topic to be addressed in order to avoid the zoning and the idealized dormitory towns as the only response.2. RE-PROGRAMMING: Reprograming has become a decisive tool in order to reactivate residual existing areas. Reprogramming must focus on the opportunities that the context already offers through the implementation of residential and productive functions, and the design of open spaces. The attention to the inhabitant’s domestic desires will be understood as a key topic to be developed in the proposed areas. 3. PUBLIC SPACE: The attention to the public space as a mediator is a fundamental opportunity to define and stimulate the collective and individual activities. The design of the public space must focus on certain elements: 3.1-Productive space: A chance to re-introduce productive areas into the city 3.2-Synergy Public-Private space: Definition of the synergy between public and private conditions and their complementary dependency.

HERMITAGE FOR THE PEOPLE: TRANSFORMING THE HISTORIC CENTER The workshop aimed specifically at fostering a vision of the city as a socio-historic outcome: diverse actions by multiple actors produce what we will call ‘layers of the city’. This vision needs to be understood as a dynamic process of which all citizens, in a bigger or smaller degree, at a larger or smaller scale, are actors and are, in one way or another, effectively transforming the city. This also means that, willingly or unwillingly, we are constantly adapting the city we have received from past generations to our own needs. It goes without saying that this process is not smooth or placid. It’s got bumps and fights, because the city is the place for conflicts, since in it different interests meet, and give it its main raison d’être. These conflicts and their impact are even more acutely felt in a designated ‘historic’ city center like the one of Saint Petersburg. And the heart of the heart of it is the Hermitage area.

БЛАГОТВОРИТЕЛЬНАЯ И ВОЛОНТЕРСКАЯ РАБОТА HUMANITARIAN AND VOLUNTEER PROJECTS

Cover letter I have always had this strong passion towards art and design thanks to my parents. My father was a sculptor and my mother a ceramicist and painter, and as I had an interest and talent for arts, my parents supported and guided me in this direction. I graduated from Vladimir State University in 2004, where I studied Art and English. Because of my studies in art, I received a proposal to help with residential landscape design. In furtherance of this, I took classes in Vladimir and Moscow where I studied landscape design and planning, and began working as a landscape designer. Here I was able to apply my skills in drawing and my sense of composition and color.

Education: Vladimir State Teacher Training University, Russia Masters degree, philology 1999 – 2004 Moscow Landscape Design school “Gertruda” landscape designer, landscape design 2006 – 2007

After years of designing mainly residential landscapes, I began to realize that I wanted to help change the Russian mentality in approaching the use of the land and landscape design, and to bring that change into the community where I live. In 2014-15, I Studied Urban Design and Research at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, where I received my Master's degree in Urban Design and Research. I currently live and work in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where I share our studio with my husband and partner, photographer and artist Rip Griffith. I have extensive experience in working closely with both individuals and large groups of people, giving me an insight into their interaction with the spaces in which they live and work, and providing me with a better understanding in planning a more functional and beautiful environment..

Software: ArchiCAD AutoCAD 10 DesignCAD 3D Max 2016 Sketch up Pro 8 Adobe Suite Microsoft Office Suite

As an integral part of my training and experience, I have developed the skills and techniques both in drawing and painting, in photography and, most particularly, in computer design software, such as ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, Sketch up Pro, etc., a complete skill-set.

Completed courses and seminars:
