Originally from Yorkshire, England, Ellen began drawing and painting as a young child, with a love of pattern and colour. After graduating from King's college London and the London college of Fashion, Ellen Gregory McGrath went on to found Anzu and firmly establish herself in London as a freelance designer working for clients such as Guerlain, Bergdorf Goodman and Sisley. Her love of the craft and her finely detailed designs along with her glamorous sense of style make her an effortless artist. Her exquisite hand-painted illustrations are created using gouache, a watercolour favoured by Persian and Indian miniature artists. Ellen's illustrations take inspiration from a diverse variety of sources be it 1920s jewellery, Russian illustrator Bilibin, Paul Poiret, or English country gardens. Ellen founded Anzu (which means apricot in Japanese) after graduating and an inspirational trip to Japan. With an emphasis on a decorative, hand-painted look, Anzu products and Ellen's work have been featured in various publications including The Times, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, The Financial Times, Marie Claire, Brides and Sky wedding tv. Anzu products sell in shops across Europe, the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, and Korea. Anzu's loyal
and continually evolving customer base includes some of the best retailers in the world such as Harrods, Kensington Palace, Kate's Paperie, Mitsukoshi, Globus and Papyrus. Exhibitions of Ellen's work have been held in the past two years in Harrods, Mitsukoshi Tokyo, Berlin's Quartier 206, Papyrus in the US, and Seoul's Museum of Art. Anzu has also produced bespoke work for a number of select private and corporate clients including Jo Malone, Guerlain, Sisley, Acqua di Parma, Bergdorf Goodman, Harvey Nichols, Vogue Japan, the Berkeley hotel and various book covers. About Our Products Anzu creates a variety of unique luxury stationery and gift items. Quality is of paramount importance to us. We only use Swarovski crystals to decorate our fine stationery, and the heavy laid card we use is our signature. Our limited edition prints and stationery are all printed in England and our candles are hand-poured in the Cornish countryside. All our products are created with care, love, and attention to detail.
