HI UNI-ACORNS~

This is the first issue published by me, this term's 23-24 editor, Tram Pham! I'm very thankful to be given this opportunity to work with this variety of communities and expand my experiences beyond just volunteering and school work. I’m ready to create and introduce new themes plus promote events and key club updates through the newsletter! I'm also super excited to get to work with our new board (eyyy 23-24 kc) and create many more new fun plans for the year.

Meeting everyone in key club and going to the events have brought me so many new friends and connections -- I love them all so much...per usual, being in key club doesn't disappoint! I hope all our members and even those incoming will have the same opportunity and get to know everyone~

Also...by the time you guys read this, it might be a little late into the month, but trust, this will only happen once :( I will work extra hard to publish on time LMAOO (i won't let you down). SOO, I hope you guys will look forward to the upcoming newsletters; I'll make sure to create the best that I can...As for me, I'm looking forward to learning more about everyone throughout the next few semesters! Thank you and I promise to publish the best newsletters for aoc ;)

PRESIDENT'S PRESIDENT'S

Welcome to the '23 - '24 term! I'm Hasvita Obulapuram, your key club president and I'm excited to get to know all of you this upcoming year. Some things about me, I'm a rising senior, I love listening to music and taking naps, and my favorite cake flavor is Black Forest! I'm super hyped for key club this year especially considering how fun last year was. I hope you guys are looking forward to the various club, division, and district events coming up because I know I am!

I know that some of you might find it odd that we are starting a new key club term when school is still not over, honestly, I thought so too when I first joined key club, however, I feel as though it's a great way to gain experience and be prepared for the following school year! Your new officer board and I have been brainstorming a bunch of new ideas to implement this following term and we are more than excited to share with you as soon as we can!

Thank you all for reading the first issue of the term written by our lovely editor, Tram! I'm really proud of all of you for showing your dedication to community service and we have so many new heights to reach. Don't forget to get plenty of rest, especially during finals season. Make sure to eat properly and drink plenty of water!! It's starting to get hot again so y'all need to stock up on that H2O. Please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding key club or if you just want to talk I'm open as well :)

DCON DCON

DCON, or District Convention occurred on April 21-23rd, and signified the end of the 22-23 term, and the beginning of the new 23-24 Key Club term!

This fun filled weekend include multiple education workshops where Key Clubbers can learn about various things within the Kiwanis Family, fun life lessons, specific position workshops and more. Day one consisted of meeting the potential candidates for the district executives, education sessions, and the first general session.

Day two consisted of more educational sessions, alongside the house of delegates and caucus sessions where each delegate votes for the district execs. Two of officers from our home club, IP Editor Renee Agatep and IP Treasurer and current President Hasvita Obulapuram were able to present during one of the general sessions, along with IP D16N Head Spirit Coordinator Jaena Danaram on effective communication or, "Key Club Rizz". Later on, we had another general session where awards were given to acknowledge all the hard work done throughout the 22-23 term. D16N was able to take home multiple awards, and specifically for AOC Key Club, we were awarded "Outstanding Club Newsletter", "Aim 50" and "District Tree". We are so proud of the club and can't wait to accomplish more this new term. The night ended off with Governors Ball, where we all got dressed up and danced the night away!

On May 21st, 2023, Division 16 North, led by LTG Maria, and Division 16 South, led by LTG Sydney, came together to host an enchanting (^^) division banquet.

With multiple clubs in attendance, the banquet was filled with excitement as both divisions got to know each other through an icebreaker -- everyone eagerly participated, and laughter filled the room! Although the main goal was to win, to get first picks on food, everyone bonded over their passion for singing and concluded by dining at once, nonetheless, to continue the evening.

Furthermore, the highlight of the banquet was listening to the speeches from our past and present LTGs, members, and the recognition ceremony! In particular, AOC stood high as we brought home multiple awards, getting achievements such as, to name a few, the “AIM 50”, and the “District Tree”. Particular emphasis to AOC’s Hasvita for receiving the “Furry of the Year”, Hallea for the “Cold Stone Manager”, and Aiden for the “Officer of the Month” awards! Silly as such, we are all so grateful to be the receivers of these titles!

To wrap up the event, Maria introduced the new Division Leadership Team to illuminate the evening. With a total of 16 members, Maria ultimately concluded with a fresh DLT to keep the D16N running smoothly!

Let’s look forward to what they have in store; we welcome a new term of officers, members, LTGs, DLTs, and a whole bunch of spirit for Key Club 23-24...

AOC AT AOC AT

From June 19th to June 30th, Division 16 and the Include Everyone Project came together to host a summer space camp at The Cube Center The IEPSCV project aims to establish an inclusive and supportive community for ALL individuals with abilities and special needs, hence the name! In the span of two weeks, the volunteers dedicated themselves to two sessions: week 1 for preparation, and week 2 for stage. Our wonderful volunteers helped out for over 4 hours every day to deliver the best activities and provide aid for all the participating campers. Although the days ssed by quickly, the members of the project t only formed connections with one another t, more importantly, with the kids!

ring the first session, AOC volunteers, Tram, onny, and Jaiden, participated in setting up, isting campers, preparing for activities, and nding up afterward. Arriving early and leaving e, it was all so worth it seeing the campers ppy with the hard work of our volunteers. Excitement and joy filled the air daily as everyone greets each other and starts the event with smiles and dances.

The camp encompasses a stretching routine to start, then music, followed by a fun art activity, and preparations for the stage to end! To wrap up, the highlight of the event was definitely the performance day, on June 30th! It was heartwarming to see all the past volunteers, including session 1 members, coming back to watch the kids.

IIEP EPspace camp

Despite this being considered a volunteering event, everyone had become so close and supportive of one another throughout the past weeks. The evening was filled with acts, singing, and dancing -- one of the most impressive performances, especially considering the limited preparation time of just 2 weeks.

It was amazing to conclude the camp with a successful show and the formation of new friendship bonds with one another. Finally, a special thanks to all the incredible volunteers who worked tirelessly to prepare and set up, and to all the members/campers of IEPSCV for delivering a flawless show!
