MESSAGE HEY HEY HEY uni-acorns <3 Can you believe it? It is finally August, and the start of the new academic term, meaning most of y'all are juniors (good luck LOL), and I am officially a senior :,) I hope you all had an amazing summer and congrats on making it through summer classes if you took any. Personally, this summer was very stressful starting the college application process, and to the other seniors reading this, good luck as well! Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the interclub picnic with WR and Castaic, but I hope you all enjoyed it! We are really happy to see our club come back together and are SO excited to introduce you guys to the many activities we have planned for this year. Look forward to a new volunteer opportunity towards the end of August, which will be introduced later in this newsletter. And again, a huge thank you to HALLEA POCRASS for drawing our amazing cover u a queen fr! That is all I have to say for now, but enjoy reading this movie-themed newsletter!

MESSAGE HAPPY AUGUST UNI-ACORNS <33 I hope all of your guys’ summer breaks were AMAZING! If im being honest, my summer break was a little stressful from the workload of my 2 college classes. It was hard at times but I am very grateful for the people I surrounded myself with that helped me get through the stress, workload, and the feeling of being overwhelmed. Besides the point about these wookie dookie coc classes, school is starting again! I know, I know it’s something we’re all dreading for it starting but don’t forget to always look on the brighter side! For example: making more memories with your friends, classmates and most importantly this Key Club term will be even more eventful and exciting than it already was with what I have planned for you guys! I am so excited to be able to host meetings every Friday again after Club Rush Day happens! I just want to say it once again, I am so grateful and fortunate in life to be able to have this position and represent my favorite club on campus. You guys are all such swaggy members, classmates, and friends! Never forget that you all have a chance to make an impact in our city/community! Can’t wait for the new school year to start with all of you uniacorns!

Sparkling with service,

maria manalastas

INTERCLU with west ran

On Friday, July 22nd, AOC, Castaic, and West Ranch Key Club hosted an interclub event, where we had bonding, service, and food! It was a hot summer day when Unis from these three schools split up into teams for a trash pick-up competition at Valencia Heritage Park. Team Pink was led by AOC KC President Maria Manalastas, Team Yellow was led by Castaic KC President Katie Lien, and Team Blue was led by West Ranch KC President Sana Meher. Each team had people from the three schools, so members could make new friends! First off, to break the ice between each team, we had a scavenger hunt where team members took "0.5" pictures that showed all group members in front of the objects around the park they had to find.

B PICNIC UB nch and castaic

After our short scavenger hunt, the trash pick-up competition officially started! Members went around the park with their teams and picked up trash. Technically, no team won as there was too much trash to count, but everyone had a fun time cleaning the park with each other. Finally, we began our potluck as people brought pizza, cookies, cupcakes, etc. We even had a surprise birthday plan for our club treasurer, Hasvita Opulauram, as we all sang and greeted her with a cake. For the rest of the event, we all bonded and sat in the lovely shade. Overall, with the heat making everyone a little sleepy, our "Interclub-Picnic" was a success!

NINTENDO-TC

officer training conference

On Saturday, July 23, NintendO-TC, or Officer Training Conference was held at Burbank Highschool along with D16S. It was a fun-filled day with presentations, games, and food! All of our officers were in attendance, and some even had the chance to present at OTC! Members also got to learn more about Key Club through presentations such as Key Club 101, Kiwanis Family, Running for Office, and many more. Overall, it was an amazing and enlightening experience :) Members, look forward to RTC, or Region Training Conference in the upcoming months, which is another training conference but for the whole Region 7 :D

Maria OTC was such an fun, exciting, and informational event!! I loved it so much especially because I haven’t been in this kind of environment for the longest time. And what i mean by this is that I haven’t talked in front of a group of people in awhile and I felt like I was at home because it reminded me of our home key club, AOC! I really missed talking out loud and presenting to you guys. Another thing that made me so happy is that many people that chose to attend to my presentation enjoyed it, and I got to meet a lot of D16S and new D16N members from Arleta as well! Lastly, another thing that made me really happy is that I got to dress up formally. I absolutely LOVE putting on a button up, blazer, skirts, or dress pants. I find it really fun and cute :3 This has to be one of my favorite events so far!

Hallea All of the presenters put so much work into their slides, and made it an informative and enjoyable experience with fun interactives and such as well (shoutout to Renee and Kaitlin’s Kirby meme scavenger hunt!!). I also had the pleasure to present Effective Fundraising with our treasurer, Hasvita. While we were nervous, it was great to be able to see all our hours of hard work pay off when people came to our presentation. Overall, OTC was such a fun experience !!

Renee After attending last year's OTC online, an in-person OTC was something new and exciting! At this year's OTC, I was able to present "Awards and Recognition" along with our division's Head Spirit Coordinator, Kailitin Phung. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first since we were presenting in the auditorium, but after getting up on stage, I suddenly felt very comfortable and almost excited to present. We planned a fun little scavenger hunt at the end, where we hid little Kirby memes around the room, where people who found them were recognized and called up on stage. It was a very fun experience also learning about the editor position as well as Key Club in general. I am fully confident that I can be the best editor and officer I can be to support all of you guys in any way I can for this term! <333

Jaiden It was cool meeting people from outside our division at OTC. The presentations that I had attended were very informative and well made, especially BEE-ing a leader, and stress management. These were both given by AOC key club officers, Teddy and Maria, who inspired me to start thinking on how I can apply what I learned to the upcoming school year.

Joni I had so much fun listening to all the presentations and learning so many new things about Key Club at OTC!! The presenters were so engaging and it was awesome being able to meet and bond with key club members across different schools <3 It was definitely an amazing experience and I can’t wait to attend more events throughout the year!!!
