I hope you all had a wonderful January and are adjusted to going back to school for the new semester with spring slowly approaching. We still have a lot of things planned for these last two months, such as our first club service project and more volunteer opportunities! The end of the term is also slowly creeping up, as this will be my third to last issue I will be creating as your 22-23 club Bulletin Editor (APRIL ISSUE WILL BE THE LAST ONE I WILL MAKE </3) Don't worry, I won't get sappy yet :,) Elections will be happening very very soon, and I am so excited to see the new elects for AOC Key Club! I am fully confident that the new set of officers will take our club to new heights and will continue the legacy of being the best and biggest club on campus Do not be discouraged if you are not elected, as there are still multiple opportunities to be involved within the club, and even taking the step to run takes a lot of courage, and we are so so proud of you all, no matter the outcome With that said, enjoy this issue and have a fabulous February and enjoy your time with your loved ones <333

PRESIDENT'S PRESIDENT'S message message

It's the month full of love and happiness, just kidding, I know we all hate the 14th day if this month :’) Besides the point, I have good news!… I am now officially the next future Lieutenant Governor Elect for the 2023-2024 term for Division 16 North I just want to make a small shoutout to each and every one of you guys that helped me learn and grow as a leader You guys are all truly the reason why I got so far into my Key Club journey, is because of your guys’ charisma, energy, dedication, participation, and motivation for this amazing organization. Without all of those important factors that come into play, we would’ve never had such a successful club/term this year and I hope you all enjoyed it and had so much fun as much the officers and I did! I hope you all continue this legacy at AOC that Caleb has started with him being the first president and the first elected LTG from AOC As said, elections are coming up real fast, and also want to mention how proud I am for everyone who runs Whatever the outcome you walk out of that room with whatever results, please remember that you are taking a step into your life and that you should always be proud of yourself You guys all have the abilities to run for any of the positions offered and can’t wait to see who will possibly be my next child! ♡(˃ દ ˂ )♡

I hope January was a relaxing month for you all considering we don't have COC work yet (aside from winter classes). Elections are coming up so just a reminder that you guys have to be dues paid to run! You can be a dues paid member any time of the year just turn in your cash or check to Mrs Perkins at the front office!! I love you guys so make sure to take care of yourselves especially as spring semester starts!

Hey Unis! AOC Key Club is proud to present to you our first in club service project regarding birds and their feeders!

Through this project, we hope to educate our local community about ways we can support our local birds We will do this by decorating bird feeders/houses filling it up with seeds and having it displayed out for people of all ages can come take a look After we finish decorating the bird houses, we’ll attach a laminated card to them providing educational facts about local bird species, as well as how to take care of them and manage your own bird house/feeder. After that, the officers will hang them out in numerous parks around Santa Clarita where people can come look at them and learn a little more about our wonderful winged animals!

Key Club can get expensive at times, and through this project, we strive to provide an opportunity within our home club to impact our environment positively without any cost We also want to encourage members to proactively care for environment sustainability by giving service hours for the time they spend decorating and distributing the bird houses

This project is intended to be completed by the first week of March (a set date will be put out later) so we have enough time to disperse them out to the public! *feel free to take them home and bring them back as you please*

KEY OBJECTIVES

Decorate feeders through paint, stickers, ribbons, etc.

Add bird seed to such feeders

Attach a laminated card to the back

Enjoy seeing your creations out in the parks of Santa Clarita!

MATERIALS

Bird Feeders (provided to those who have filled out this form)

Paint (provided)

Paint brushes (provided)

Bird seed (provided)

Ribbon (provided)

Everything else is optional and members are free to pu decorate as well

Just keep in mind that decorations should create the least amount of waste possible !!

**You will be given 4 hours for the completion of your bird feeder**

The biggest DISTRICT event is almost here: DCON, on District Convention! This is an annual event held to celebrate the achievements of the term, elect the new District Executive Board, attend educational workshops, meet new Key Clubbers across California, Nevada, and Hawaii, and welcome the new term!

DCON is a weekend packed full of unforgettable experiences, including:

Learn more about Key Club by attending workshops (ex: leadership development, life skills, college, etc)

As a delegate, vote for the 2023-2024 District Executive Board

Recognize and celebrate the hard work of members, clubs, officers, and advisors! Watch all the talent CNH has to offer and our very special keynote speaker. Spend time with all the new friends that you make during the duration of the District Convention.

Experience the bittersweet moments during the last event of the term, say goodbye to the 2022-2023 District Board, and welcome the 2023-2024 District Board.

On January 28th, AOC Key Club had their third inter-club event of the 22-23 term with Golden Valley and Saugus Key Club at the Newhall Boys & Girls Center. Together, Unis from all three schools were able to make snow globes with the provided supplies.

Organized by our treasurer, Hasvita Obulapuram, she shared that “The glitter n globes was extremely fun as we got to bond with other clubs! Though the jars ended up coming in a bit small, we were able to make the most of it and find creative ways to fit the figurines inside the jars or on top. A big shout out to Sanjana's upside down cupcakes, they were amazing especially with the added maraschino cherries :P . I loved being a part of organizing this event with both Janna from GV and Sanjana from Saugus and hope we can find more events in the future to collab on!”

AOC Member, Noel Tsan shared that "I think that Glitter n' Globes was a great opportunity to hang out and meet new people. Although there were some issues along the way I was still able to appreciate the time I spent with other Key Clubbers and it made those hours pass by in a flash. I personally think it's important to remember that Key Club is also a club and that coming to events even without service hours being offered still makes it worth it just to be a part of the "club" aspect of Key Club. You also should remember that you only live Fall Rally, DCON, Glitter n' Globes, and any other Key Club event once as a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior so I think you should make the most out of the time you spend with fellow Key Clubbers."

Congratulations to Tiffany for being our February Uni-Acorn of the month!!! Tiffany Requeno has been an amazing addition to the Fundraising Committee, and we are glad to recognize her this month. As chair, she never hesitated to take lead at meetings and always made a welcoming atmosphere for everyone to include their ideas! Her communication skills are notable especially when transferring and relaying ideas and tasks. We are so honored to have Tiffany a part of Fundraising committee and can't wait to see all that she's going to accomplish during her term!

Assist the division by joining the division judging committee and reviewing contest submissions! you do not have to have any prior experience, and we encourage all dues-paid members to apply for the committee! this is a great opportunity to get more involved in the division!

For those who want to get recognized for their hard work for the term, we also encourage you to apply for DIVISION CONTESTS! Each year, the division holds contests to reward outstanding members, clubs, and advisors from the division who went above and beyond their duties These contests are judged at the division level, but winners will be recognized at district convention (DCON!!!) Members can apply for the MEMBER OF THE YEAR award under DIVISION CONTESTS!

On Saturday, January 21st, our division's Conclave with D16S occurred to elect the 23-24 Lieutenant Governors! There were five strong candidates in the running, as each one showed their dedication to Key Club with their amazing speeches and caucus sessions. Three of which were actually candidates from AOC, Maria, Hasvita and Hallea!

AOC Delegate, Aiden Chung shared that, "Being able to attend Conclave as a delegate for AOC was super exciting because I felt like I helped contribute to Key Club history by having a say in choosing the next LTG for our division. Even though the atmosphere was very tense and nerve-wracking, all of the candidates did an amazing job during their speeches and caucuses; it was definitely hard choosing only one out of the five veryqualified candidates It was heartwarming seeing everyone (especially the candidates) genuinely excited for each other once a person was officially elected instead of being jealous or displeased Congratulations to everyone who ran; you all did wonderful!"

After three hours of listening to speeches and caucus sessions, the candidates were narrowed down to the finalists, Maria and Hasvita, meaning that we would for sure have another AOC LTG! In the end, it was a very close vote, but there had to be only one. It was announced that MARIA MANALASTAS, our very own home club president, would become our next division LTG for the 23-24 Key Club term! We are so incredibly proud of Maria for all of her hard work. As our president, we were able to accomplish so much! All of AOC wishes you well and knows that you will make our division even more swag than it already is <3 Special thank you to our delegates, Aiden Chung and Jordin Danaram too!!!

As one of the last DCMS of the 22-23 term, Unis gathered for our January DCM, also held at Conclave! The DCM occurred instantly after the results of conclave, with the delegates from each school in our division gathering around in the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank. We recognized member, officer, and club of the month for both December and January, with our current LTG, Caleb Kim and our LTG elect, Maria Manalastas.

The other AOC Delegate, Jordin Danaram also shared that "the experience at Conclave was really unforgettable since I got the chance to vote for the D16N’s next LTG. I’m also super proud of AOC’s candidates because of how creative their speeches were. Also I’m pretty glad we get to have another AOC LTG!"

Overall, it was an eventful day for fellow Unicorns and White Tigers, as the legacy of LTG was carried over
