He was a still life image painter/artist.
He painted two oil paintings that were selected by President Obama to be a part of the White House collection.

Giorgio Morandi's still life paintings are instantly recognizable for their muted color palette, subdued and unsophisticated subject matter, and quiet simplicity.

This is my favorite piece of art Morandi produced, plainly because on the lighting. The background is jet black and there is a dim light that just about allows you to see the crockery. It reminds me of a museum because it is like a treasure in a glass case cleverly lit to make it look amazing. I also like his attention to detail e.g. the decoration and the texture of the crockery.
