2021 2025

hi!

I’m Alberto and this is my portfolio

I was born in Barcelona and have always lived here with my family.

My journey in architecture began in 2015 at ETSALS in Barcelona and I had the amazing opportunity to go abroad to study in Rio de Janeiro for a year. I keep very fondly all my memories from there and all the things I learned. When I came back, I started my first work experience, finished my undergraduate degree and completed my Master’s degree. I finished my studies in 2022, with honours and a prize in the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism. I consider myself a curious and restless person, constantly looking for new challenges and opportunities to learn and grow both personally and professionally. It is very stimulating for me to be able to work in team and contribute with my creativity and organization. I also have a great interest in new technologies and IT.

> Fab-Lab: workshops, fabrication rooms and exhibition spaces.

/2021/

Green and low energy project with a programme of workshops, fabrication rooms, and exhibition spaces. It forms part of an ensemble with a common gallery space, central impluvium and a lightweight sheet metal roof together with polycarbonate panels for the envelope. In the interior space, a glue-laminated-timber structure of pillars and beams, and cross-laminated-timber floor slabs form the interior workshops and the exterior ones above. The interior skin is built with rectified 29 cm thermo-clay blocks, taking advantage of their thickness for both thermal inertia and insulation.

> Contemporary circus in El Raval, Barcelona TFM project /2022/

The Raval is a different neighbourhood from the rest of the city. It’s a harbour area, and half of its inhabitants are foreigners. Most of the facilities are meant for tourists. The project proposes a different point of view, creating a facility to be used by the people living in the area. Considering the great variety of cultures and traditions concentrated in this part of Barcelona, the proposal is to create the “Raval Circus”. For neighbourhood meetings where skills and cultural traditions can be shared. Instead of removing mass in order to create new facilities, this project explores the possibility of using the pre-existing mass and overlaying the intervention with lightweight constructions.

Raval Circus (2022)

I. FULL AND EMPTY SPACE. The urban planning that has been carried out so far in El Raval has been based on emptiness and substraction. Removing mass to create an axis of facilities and open areas.

II. FACILITIES AND PUBLIC SPACE. There is an axis that goes across the Raval connecting facilities such as the MACBA, the CCCB, Massana School, and the Boqueria Market, among others with public open spaces. The Western side remains a residential and high-density area.

III. AREA OF INFLUENCE. It is on this axis of facilities where most of the tourists visiting the Raval are concentrated. A map has been made of the influence of the facilities according to the photos posted on the internet.

LUZIA

IV. EMPTY SPACE IN BLOCK’S INTERIORS. The block’s interiors are big open spaces with wasted use.

V. WALKWAYS IN BLOCK’S INTERIORS. A 4-metre-high walkway runs across the urban block’s interiors, attaching itself to the party walls and adapting to the irregular structure of the neighbourhood.

VI. WALKWAYS AND PAVILIONS. Buildings are placed along this path in the empty urban plots and block’s interiors. These buildings are accompanied by spatial structures formed by scaffolding for outdoor activities. Facilities where circus activities take place.

> High school with possibility of expansion in MiamiMontroig del Camp, Tarragona /2024/

The building is implemented with a modular system developed on the ground floor, which allows an easy and economical expansion. The proposal consists of three different volumes perpendicular to the street. On one side the classrooms, facing north and with patios and terraces as climatic shelters. Administration workshop classrooms around a courtyard that can be covered and develop common activities. Finally, the kitchen-dining room and gym as a separate body on the other side of the playground. The proposal is based on the desire to create exterior and interior intermediate spaces that allow cross ventilation and a new way of understanding education with collaborative spaces

> Renovation of a 20th century building to host a youth space /2024/

The project opens the building towards the new urban park “Canòpia” and thus, the park participates in the activities that take place, so that it is integrated as a part of the project, forming a plaza. The main access is through this new plaza, through the center of the building and allows reading at once the building, its history and the new proposed reality. The location of the vertical communications frees and complements the circulations, generating dynamic spaces that favor relationships. The different areas of the building can be used independently according to schedule.

IV. Self-production of energy for NZEB building

The volume and most of the existing structure is maintained, the facade of Cartagena St is reconstructed. Inside, the program is organized with prefabricated and removable elements that are grouped according to the needs. The open space flows between these elements allowing synergies of activities. The situation of the vertical communications sectorizes the uses: the polyvalent room is located in relation to Cartagena St and the plaza; the “castellers” space, located at the other end, brings light to the three levels; the rest of the floor is free of organization. The exterior plaza and the relationship with the interiors favor social interaction and climatic comfort.

La gran porta que s'obra a l'espai del circ esdevé un atractiu d'activitat pública, potenciant el valor de la façana y el seu reconeixement històric

> School with possibility of expansion in VentallóAlt Empordà, Girona /2025/

The building is implemented with a light wooden roof that provides shelter to the programmatic areas, generating interstitial spaces that allow teaching and leisure activities in semi-outdoor spaces. It is an articulated proposal that guarantees various relationship spaces with different orientations. The volumes provide differentiated accesses for kindergarten and primary school. The internal circulation is fully optimized by a single central passage that has natural light and direct ventilation. The primary classrooms and kindergarten have directly related outdoor spaces for teaching activities.

II. Independent guarded accesses and with 2 vestibules
III. Optimized circulations. Boxes connected to the corridor
I. Program divided by boxes under one roof generating interstitial spaces
IV. Creation of safe spaces without “tramontana” winds (North wind)
V. Controlled and customized lighting for each of the spaces + porch area for outdoor classrooms
