Above, you will see the art of “Distance Politicking!” Many mornings during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, I positioned my four wheel drive Chevrolet pickup truck on the shoulder of the main highway through Chowan County, US-17 / Queen Street. In my hands, I am eating “Original” Lay’s Potato Chips, and resting comfortably beside me, I have a country ham, egg, and cheese biscuit and an “Original Taste” Coca-Cola from Doug’s Westover General Store. My weekly copy of the Chowan Herald is also there beside me in the bed of the truck. The Farm Bureau Insurance hitch cover and the personalized “A-354, Retired Highway Patrol” NC License Plate are just another part of my personality, signatures, if you will, denoting important parts of my life and my history. The Cumulus Clouds behind me were a precursor to Hurricane Isaias, which brought heavy rains... But not on my parade toward re-election, thanks to you, the people of Chowan County! As I ate my “down home” breakfast in the parking lot beside my Minnow Box and my “Crystal Clear” ice box, lots of friends and voters rode by and blew their horn. With a big wave and a heart of gratitude, I yelled, “Vote Mike McArthur, Clerk of Superior Court.”
Paid for by the committee to Re-elect Mike McArthur
