A: The recently deceased actress was a regular on several shows. She played a member of the title clan in the 2002-04 drama “American Family,” then she appeared as a resident of a Hollywood apar tment building in the shor t-lived 2008 sitcom

“Welcome to the Captain.” Her final career credit was the 2017 comedy show “Date My Dad.” Along the way, Welch also did other television work including the movies “Right to Die,” “Scandal in a Small Town,” “Tainted Blood,” “Trouble in Paradise” and “The Legend of Walks Far Woman.” Additionally, she made guest appearances on such shows as “Seinfeld,” “Mork & Mindy,” “Spin City,” “Evening Shade,” “CSI: Miami,” “8 Simple Rules” and “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.”

Q: Where can I watch the original version of “Night Court”? – Susan Poole, Buffalo, N.Y.

A: It hasn’t been available for the past couple of months, but that’s about to change. Before the current NBC revival launched, the first version (which, like the new one, starred John Larroquette) could be seen on the channel Laf f, but that ended with the star t of the new year The reason for that evidently was a deal made for the show by what has been known as Decades, which will be rebranded as the all-sitcom Catchy Comedy Network star ting March 27.

Two episodes of the original “Night Cour t” will be shown there each weeknight. Executives of the network have said they’re feeling pretty lucky, since their purchase of that series was made before the revival premiered to ver y impressive ratings likely making some viewers interested in checking out the parent show now

Ever ything all at once, Oscar-wise: ABC televises 95th movie awards

The movie business has changed a lot in recent years, but the Oscars remain a constant of it.

Though more films have returned to theatricalonly releases than in earlier phases of the COVID-19 situation, the future of some theaters is in jeopardy ... and a significant number of them have closed. Still, there are enough releases and places to see them for the Academy Awards to have an impact on how they perform economically Jimmy Kimmel has his third stint as host of the ceremony as ABC broadcasts the 95th edition Sunday, March 12, from Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre.

One never can be sure, but it seems unlikely that a year later, a repeat of what immediately became one of history’s most famous slaps will be delivered on the Oscar stage (unless someone does something along those lines to reference that moment in jest).

Turkey is among the ‘Travels With Darley’ in Season 10 of Journy series

Season 10 of Journy’s “Travels With Darley” celebrates women creatives and women forging change. And in two of the eight episodes, it takes host and travel expert Darley Newman to a place that’s been in the news a lot – Turkey.

Filmed before the Feb. 6 and 22 earthquakes that devastated southeast Turkey and Syria, the episodes follow Newman to Istanbul, where she meets Chief Port Officer Figen Ayen of the Galataport Istanbul, who heads the first underground cruise terminal; and to Sanliurfa, where she tours the archaeological site Gobekli Tepe, just added to the list of UNESCO orld Heritage sites.

“It’s like 6,000 years older than Stonehenge,” she says. “It’s super cool. And they’re just uncovering a small portion of it right now. There’s a huge area they’re going to be uncovering but it’s open to the public. So I was able to go there and see it and speak with an archaeologist, and I’m y excited about it.

“Apparently, from what I’ve heard it has not been affected by the earthquake, that particular site,” she continues. “Of course, that area was affected, obviously, so we’ll see what happens. Things are still being revealed. You know, everyone is sending our thoughts and prayers to the people of Turkey.”

Toward that end, both Newman and Ovation TV, the parent of Journy, are also donating to relief efforts.
