Ten in a Bed

There were ten in a bed and the little one said, "Roll over, roll over."

So they all rolled over and one fell out.

There were nine in a bed and the little one said "Roll over, roll over."

So they all rolled over and one fell out.

There were eight in a bed and the little one said "Roll over, roll over."

So they all rolled over and one fell out.

Continue counting down until there are none left in the bed. If you like, count up again by adding one back into the bed each verse. Try using ten objects. You can find a prop for this rhyme here.

Activity

Cut some small squares from different colored paper and let your child practice placing it on various types of lines—curved, jagged, or a letter. Start a pattern and encourage your child to continue it. For example, red-red-bluegreen-green. Let them come up with their own patterns or challenge you to complete one.
