The Atlantic Festival, organized by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture, through the Regional Tourism Board, celebrates the arrival of summer on Madeira and Porto Santo Islands with fireworks and music.
The Madeira International Fireworks Contest includes three pyromusical shows which take place on the first three Saturdays of June and can be seen along the entire bay of Funchal over 20 minutes. This edition counts on the participation of pyrotechnic companies from three countries: France, Mexico and Switzerland. The objective is to attain the “Atlantic Trophy”, awarded by a jury, as well as the “Madeira Belongs to All Trophy” awarded by the public. The vote
can be cast in tombolas placed in the La Vie shopping centre, at the Tourist Office of the Regional Tourism Board in Avenida Arriaga, as well as at the Funchal Pier, the night of the show.
In Praça do Povo, in Funchal, in addition to the event programme, a weekly summer sunset will take place. From Thursday to Sunday, from 16:00 to 00:00, a small market with regional flavours and entertainment, consisting of music performances and dance shows, will be open to the public providing genuine relaxing moments.

Opening of the Atlantic Festival with the Piromusical Show, by the Portuguese company Macedo’s Pirotecnia, under the theme “Rituals”.
The Sixteenth Century Market (Mercado Quinhentista), organized by the Machico Primary and Secondary School in collaboration with the Machico City Hall, consists of three days of recreating the collective activities of the 16th century in the noble village of Machiquo. This year it will be held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June from 16:00 to 00:00.

Madeira International Fireworks Contest - Pyromusical Show - representing France, the company BREZAC Artifices, presents the theme “The 5th element”.
The Madeira International Fireworks Contest consists of three pyromusical shows on the first three Saturdays of June. The firework is set off from the Pier of the Funchal Port and can be seen along the entire bay of, during 20 minutes.

Multimedia Shows - “Genesis – From the Origin to the Creation of Madeiran Culture”
This show invites the public to connect with the spirituality of Madeiran rituals, namely religious processions and pilgrimages, through a video jockey in an impressive combination of special multimedia effects with medium-sized projection images, animation and 3D graphics. The music will merge the traditional Bailinho with electronic rhythms, creating movement and flow in the performance.

A giant screen with a 3D effects will immerse the public, over the course of 20 minutes, in a journey through time and space relating to the history of Madeira Island by using sound, light, theatrical smoke, video and fireworks technology.
