The Columbus Festival is based on a series of tourist entertainment initiatives that portray the era when this famous merchant lived on the island of Porto Santo, recalling his experiences in the Madeira Archipelago and the epic of the Portuguese Discoveries. The event evokes the passage of the Genoese navigator on the Golden Island and includes a craft market, street performances, circus arts, theatrical performances, medieval music, and dances, ensuring continuous entertainment and a constant uproar among the various typical figures of the time.

Landing: “The Arrival of Christopher Columbus at Porto Santo Beach”
On this day, we witness the theatrical reenactment of the Genoese navigator’s arrival, along with his entourage, during one of his visits to the Golden Island. The lively atmosphere includes music, dancing, and scenic street performances of the time. Upon leaving the beach, he visits the festival area.
