A prime location for the gathering of the most diverse wine producers in the region, among Madeira wines, liqueur and still wines, in a perfect combination with gastronomy with local products. Various tastings, music entertainment and much sharing of knowledge among wine lovers, provide for a tourist attraction in the downtown Funchal so as to promote the region’s winemaking activity, its grapes, soils and the traditions linked with the harvest.
The Madeira Wine Lounge, in Praça do Povo, is the ideal place for visitors to enjoy wine and gastronomy tastings, to the sound of different regional music groups. This location is divided into five specific sections: the Madeiran Wine Producers (11), destined for tasting Madeira Wines, liqueur and still wines, a section dedicated to gastronomy, where you can taste the delicacies by chef Júlio Pereira, another dedicated to live
music and DJs, a section dedicated to “Discovering the Vineyards and Wines of Madeira” carried out by the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicrafts Institute, IP - RAM (IVBAM), and yet another section, dedicated to the Celebration of Madeiran Wines, which will include masterclasses and talks with the producers there present. The Wine Lounge aims at presenting the Madeira Wine Region to tourists and Madeirans, allowing them to deepen their knowledge on Madeira Wine and PDO “Madeirense” and PGI “Terras Madeirenses” wines (Madeiran White, Red, Sparkling and Rosés), from their cultivation to bottling.

Itinerary: streets in the parish centre of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos (Rua António Vitorino Castro Jorge, Rua Capitão Armando Pinto Correia, Rua do Damasqueiro, Rua Cónego Agostinho Figueira Faria, Rua da Igreja and Rua João Augusto de Ornelas).
Live Harvest
On Saturday morning, the spotlight turns to Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, where the Harvest Festival takes place. There, in a Madeiran quinta, the harvest will be carried out followed by an ethnographic parade counting on the participation of a vast number of folklore and ethnographic groups. After the parade, the treading of the grapes is recreated, in a traditional winepress, with the free participation of those present under a festive atmosphere where there is music entertainment and regional gastronomy.
Concerts
Music concerts in iconic locations in the Region, organised by Associação Retoiça, lasting approximately 60 minutes, in a wine environment, be it within a natural surrounding or another location related to the wine theme.
