hether you’re looking to refit your existing boat or are thinking about buying a new vessel, there’s plenty to see, do and buy at September’s Auckland On Water Boat Show.“With all show space sold-out, the popular, long-running annual event held once again in Auckland’s world-class Viaduct Harbour will have something for everyone. For years the show has been the perfect launch venue for a range of new boats, from dinghies and yachts of all sizes to powerboats and launches, as well as an array of new marine products and services,” says show CEO, Michelle Khan. Timed to run from 25 to 28 September, the Auckland On Water Boat Show coincides with when boaties are getting prepared for summer boating activities. “Once again there will be around 200 marine-oriented businesses in attendance with the latest and best products and services for sailors, fishermen, kayakers, launch owners, and paddle-boarders, to make the most of the opportunity to talk to boaties about what they need before the new summer season gets into full swing,” says Khan.

Five tips for the best time

Site Map

There’s alot to see. You’ll need the map to find your way around.

tips for making the most of the show

1

. Make notes in this programme before you go. You’ll see hundreds of products around the show, and some will inevitably slip your mind, so jot down your must-haves, and must-investigates.

2

. Arrive early. This will be when the experts on stands will be most available for a chat – and you’ll be fresh and raring to go, too. Better still, buy your tickets early too, head to iTicket.co.nz before the show for the best ticket price and chance to win great prizes.

3

. Comfortable shoes. There’s nothing worse than having aching feet or a blister and knowing you still have to walk around for a few hours. Runners will do the trick, but be prepared to take them off on boats - we’ve got a huge selection of boats to see this year, and you’re going to want to get onboard.

4

. Explore all corners of the show. You might find that product you’ve been after for years, or a nifty one that’ll make your boating experience

that much better. Don’t forget to head up to the third floor to take in a seminar from experts like ADOS Addicted to Fishing’s Nicky Sinden.

5

. Strike up conversations with other punters. You never know what you’ll learn or who you’ll meet. They might have advice about products or fishing spots, but failing that, they might just be a decent yarn. Don’t be shy; the boating community’s a family.

HUGE PRIZE DRAW FOR VISITOR SURVEY! Thanks to The Moorings, everyone who completes our show visitor survey goes in the draw to win a one week yacht charter in Tonga.* Simply complete the survey which asks your thoughts on a number of aspects of this year’s show at one of the easy-to-use kiosks at the show or speak to one of our helpful show ambassadors. *Terms and conditions apply.

THE LEGEND RETURNS Stabicraft, Sealegs & Yamaha join forces

T

hree industry heavyweights have combined to bring you something truly special with the powerhouse trio of Stabicraft, Sealegs and Yamaha. The iconic marine companies have teamed up to create an amphibious vehicle for adventure with confidence.

FI-GLASS FIREBALL - ENTRY LEVEL BOAT, MOTOR, TRAILER PACKAGE The legend returns in the all new Fi-Glass Fireball. Without drivers fantastic sea-keeping ability. At the centre of creating doubt the most popular fibreglass boat ever produced in fantastic family memories on the water, at $19,990 inc GST, New Zealand. Completely new from the keel up, it boasts a price everyone can afford. The 2014 Fi-Glass Fireball is a a contemporary interior, coupled with a modern stylish new and improved slice of Kiwi ingenuity. look. It is easy to handle on and off the trailer, while offering Gulfland Marine OS-2

With a Stabicraft 2100 Supercab hull, things were always going to be off to a good start in the collaboration. A game chaser transom allows for better maneuverability when backing down and navigating into tight spots. Stabicraft has also raked back the pontoon weld lines to dramatically refine the surface area of the chine which meets water off the hull, giving a much softer ride. The power of that ride comes from the Yamaha Lightweight F200 which is the lightest in its class, while retaining power, economy and smooth, reliable operation. That pairing of Yamaha and Stabicraft is in turn powered by Sealegs. Latest Sealegs SLG-61 amphibious technology rounds out the combination, delivering the amphibious punch which elevates this exciting new partnership. Sealegs’ famous ease of launching and recovery amphibious technology is available for the first time on the Stabicraft 2100, and we predict this is one collaboration that will have show goers clamouring to know more. SMUGGLER Displaying eight boats at the show, the Smuggler stand will be buzzing with excited boaties come show time. Of particular note is the amphibious Strata 770 RIB, powered by Sealegs technology. With serious power, a great finish and All wheel drive technology, the Strata 770 is incredibly versatile. The Sealegs technology takes nothing away from the boat in terms of on-water performance, and has a range of features and options to choose from. Smuggler, Stand OS-4

1

BLACKDOG CAT 2 Blackdog Cat are designed to keep up with anything you throw at them. The boats, with a huge amount of deck space and capable of handling heavy loads, were created to keep up with avid hunters, fishers, divers and recreational boaters. Along with its big brother, the new model 4.5cc, the 5.0SS will be on show and available for short test drives. Blackdog Cat, Stand M 23-24

AUCKLAND MARINE CENTRE Auckland Marine Centre are excited to be stocking a huge range of Australian-made Quintrex boats, with one for every type of boatie and chosen by the team to suit New Zealand conditions. Quintrex is Australia’s leading aluminium boat brand and has been in the business for almost 70 years. With a commitment to quality, finish and performance, Quintrex boats are a popular choice among both rookie and experienced owners. Auckland Marine Centre, Stand OS-19.

3

SEACRAFT MILLER MOYES Seacraft Miller Moyes will have a full range of Haines Hunter boats on display at the show. Known for their market-leading design innovation, Haines Hunters show outstanding strength in construction, superb sea-keeping ability as well as value for money. Seacraft Miller Moyes, Stand OS-18

4

BAILEY MARINE The launch of the new Arvor Weekender adds to the already-popular range with a family/fishing cruiser. The semi-planing hull is a derivative of the famous Arvor range, maintaining the same sea–keeping qualities, combining stability and performance. The high topside equates to an exceptionally dry ride while the Weekender also benefits from a large, luxurious cabin. Bailey Marine, Stand M53

5

TRISTRAM - The all new Tristram 701 Vanquish is HERE. Tristram identified that many of its customers wanted to upgrade to a larger hardtop but didn’t have the space or the towing capacity to do so. They listened, and have released not one but two new models. The 701 Offshore (hardtop) and the surprise 701 Vanquish (targa top, pictured above). Both new 701s boast excellent sized cockpits with great storage for dive bottles, fishing rods, loads of gear, and also features a sizable cabin for overnighting. Tristram, Stand OS-6

In the market to buy?

We’ve created our boat buyer’s checklist. Call us biased if you will, but we think there’s nowhere better for boat buyers than at the Show. We’ve collected the latest, greatest and most innovative boats in one place for you to explore and get a feel for; with experts onsite to explain the features.

Minicat; big impact

I

t’s easy to see why Minicat is now an international phenomenon – it provides families, kids and beginners a simple, affordable and safe way to get into sailing. Able to be set up in less than 30 minutes with no tools, and packed down even faster into carry bags, Minicats are ideal for those who are short on time or short on storage space. This means it’s easier than ever to get out and cruise – or race – at any beach, lake or favourite holiday spot. The Minicats are small catamarans, hence the name. The rigid, lightweight aluminium frame is attached to two floats made from reinforced Heytex – similar to what a white water raft is made from – each with a keel fin. The alloy mast tubing is slotted together, the sail attached, and that’s it – you’re on the water. There are two models: the 310 and the 420. The 310 is designed for two people and can carry up to 230kg, perfect for an adult teaching a child the basics of sailing. It packs into one bag and comes in three different set ups and a range of colours. Simple, affordable and a whole lot of fun. Make sure you check out the Minicat stand! Stand OS15a.

Super fun, super slick

T

he new offering from Kawasaki, the ULTRA 310X comes equipped with clever extras which will make it a firm family favourite. A class-leading high-performance hull ensure it has the pace and style to keep everyone entertained, while clever storage means this is one Jet Ski perfect for on-water adventures. Loaded with technology from Kawasaki’s championship winning machines, the race-developed hull, handles with precision and stability, with a high level of seaworthiness. In addition to contributing to the Ultra 310X’s excellent handling in both rough and calm water, the idealised strength balance helps realise a much lighter package. Brent White tells us the Kawasaki Ultra 310X’s smart features make it a perfect addition for family fun on the water. “The onboard computer system includes eco mode, no wake zone mode and cruise control as well as additional safety features like Kawasaki Smart Steering. A generous three-seater that encourages family fun and comes standard with both a low power and high power key, means this Jet Ski caters for all levels of competency,” says White. Stand 218.

1. Have a plan of what you want to buy. What do you want to be able to do with your boat? Where do you want to go? For how long, will you be staying over night or taking day trips? How many people will you be taking? What activities do you want to do? What is your budget? 2. Ask yourself if you have the time, space and money to own and maintain a boat. Where will you store it? Factor in related costs like insurance, fuel and maintenance. 3. Check out the warranty. Ask what the warranty covers. Is

the warranty transferable if you sell after a certain period of time? 4. Ask questions. The experts are there to help you, they know the boat inside out and are more than happy to have a chat with you about their product. 5. Ask for a test drive – you’ll be glad you did later on. Remember, there are very few other opportunities to speak with so many industry professionals all in one place, so make the most of it and soak up as much of the advice while you have the chance.

RIVIERA 1 Riviera’s red carpet, Auckland on-water display will showcase an impressive line-up of brand new models from Riviera and Belize from 50 to 63 feet with a retail value of NZD $10,500,000, including the new 515 & 565 SUV’s, which will be making their premiere at the show. RMarine. Marina 16. BUSFIELD MARINE Busfield Marine will be turning heads with its display of Bavaria yachts. Both new to New Zealand. Bavaria’s Vision 46 and Cruiser 41 are Farr Yacht-designed to cater to cruising sailors who enjoy spending as much time as they can onboard. At 13.99-metres, and with two-to-three cabins based on your preferences, the Vision 46 is designed to incorporate every luxury while remaining easy to sail. Bavaria’s Cruiser 41 is easy-to-handle yacht with twin helms, a single rudder, and a clean, unfettered feel thanks to intelligent arrangement of the hatches and genoa tracks. Busfield Marine. Marina 19.

2

ORAKEI YACHT SALES Orakei Yacht Sales will showcase Jeanneau’s new NC9 at the show. Follow up to popular NC11; NC9 will be presented by Orakei Yacht Sales to showgoers. With Jeanneau’s NC11 a noted success for its open-plan living, panoramic layout and light, open feel, it made sense for the respected yard to create a smaller version of the design which incorporated all of its best features. With a draft of just 1.15-metres, we’re sure this exciting new model will be popping up in New Zealand’s waters. The NC9 will be on display at the Auckland On Water Boat Show for visitors to explore, alongside the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349, also new to Orakei Marine. Marina 15.

SALTHOUSE CABRIOLET 44 4 Looking for a launch with a proven pedigree? Salthouse’s Corsair Cabriolet has been tested over the last three decades around New Zealand’s rugged coasts, with that proven design now packaged with the latest technology and crisp, clean lines. With two cabins in the 13.5m LOA vessel, and with fuel and water capacities of 900L and 720L respectively, the Cabriolet 44 admirably combines luxurious comfort with the ability to roam. Salthouse Corsair. Marina 6. SCOTT LANE BOATBUILDERS Custom-designed to suit her owners’ needs, Scott Lane Boatbuilders’ 13-metre Elite sedan, Odysseia, is sure to have show visitors lining up to get onboard. Hand-crafted by Lane’s team in their Clevedon workshop, every detail was overseen by the eventual owner; Lane himself. A sporty looking launch designed with familiy comfort and visibility in mind, Odysseia is majestic yet simple, with spacious berths and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Scott Lane BoatBuilders. Marina 21.

5

WINDCRAFT Team Windcraft will have an exceptional range of boats at the show, including the Hanse 575, Dehler 38, and Dehler 41, all seen for the first time in New Zealand. The Westhaven-based company is looking forward to showing visitors through their Dehler 38's and 41, which are having fantastic success in club racing. Team Windcraft are also looking forward to their Windcraft owner's party at the show - always lots of fun. Windcraft. Marina 30.

FAMILY CRUISING

With room to move, Pachoud Motor Yacht's Voodoo (main picture above), is an ultra-luxe sports cruiser big enough to fit the whole family - plus a few more. Sleeping nine guests in four cabins and with generous, open plan living spaces, Voodoo’s sleek lines and muscular profile will also be a drawcard for visitors to the show. The 18-metre luxury sports cruiser has speed, and lots of it, with a cruising speed of 30 knots and a top speed of 40. Combined with excellent fuel efficiency, the 25 tonne cruiser allows its owners family adventures that take them further, faster, and for less. Roger Hill Yacht Design. Marina 11.

SHARED OWNERSHIP For boat owners looking for a smart approach to their downtime, Ownaship will prove hard to go past. The Westhaven-based company has taken an enjoyment-led approach to the shared ownership model, doing away with the need for owners to worry about maintenance, service, cleaning and refuelling to maximise the time boat owners spend on the water. 33 days a year are allotted for owners - more than most people spend on the water in their own boat - and the walk on, walk off ethos is particularly suited to families. Boat models range from Rayglass daytrippers, big Bavaria sailing beauties and fish-finding, fun Mustangs - complete with BBQ. The larger Rayglass 4000 is a family getaway dream, sleeping six to eight people with enough room for squabbling siblings to have their own space. And while Ownaship can’t sort out that, they can provide a skipper if you’d like one, and 24 hour support. See the Ownaship team at Stand 201.
