TheNationalPartydidn’t winenoughseatstogovern alone,whichmeantthatthe newgovernmentwouldneed tobemadeupofmorethan oneparty.
OnNovember24,2023the newcoalitiongovernment agreementwassigned betweentheNationalParty, ACTPartyandNewZealand First.
TheGovernmentisheaded byChristopherLuxon,the NationalPartyleaderand PrimeMinister,andcoalition partyleadersDavidSeymour andWinstonPeters.
Withindaysoftheir announcement,their100-day planwassharedwiththe country.
Itincludedthattheywould removetheMa¯oriHealth Authority,Ma¯oriwardsinlocal government,Ma¯ori involvementinthe governanceofnatural resources,Ma¯orilanguagein governmentdepartments, governmentservicesbeing deliveredtoMa¯ori,Smokefree NewZealand,thejurisdiction oftheWaitangiTribunal,and Ma¯orirightsunderTeTiritio WaitangiandtheUnited NationsDeclarationonthe RightsofIndigenousPeoples.

wereseenbymanyasafrontal attackonMa¯ori.Iwileaders announcedtheir disappointment.Protests beganandralliesstartedto gatherthroughoutthe country.

OnApril26,2024, Kahungunuhostedanother Hui-a¯-Iwitodiscuss Kotahitangaandthebestway tomoveforwardtogether. HereinKahungunu,whilst Nga¯tiKahungunuIwi Incorporatedisleading discussionsandthe continuousprogressand pursuitofenhancementfor Nga¯tiKahungunu,thereare alsosixTaiwhenua
alonehaveatasktounite efforts.
Oneiwimember challengediwiChairman BaydenBarber,that Kotahitangashouldbe demonstratedbyhavingallof theseentitiespresent,sitting togetheratthisHui-a¯-Iwi indicatingKotahitanga, whereasatpresenthecould notseetheunity.

Thiseventbroughttogether nearly300attendeesfrom acrossthecountrytohonour theirachievements.

Theseyearsofrestrictionshas meantthatwehavehadto adapt,bemorecreativeand considerdoingthings differentlyholdingontowhat ismostimportanttoNga¯ti KahungunuIwiwha¯nau wha¯nui.In2024werestored oursponsorships(community andindividual)and educationalscholarships.A relationshipagreementwith theMa¯oriEducationTrust facilitatedbyourchairhas (throughtheircontributary fundingarrangementswith multipleeducational institutions),enabledan increaseinfundingto recipients.Oureventsteam continuestolookathowwe canimproveourengagement withourwha¯nauwhile continuingafrugalapproach tofundinglevels.Thisyearwe committedtopartnerwith KauwakaandHastingsDistrict CounciltoholdToitu¯TeReo inAugust2024.Theeventwas exceptional.
