Φίλες και φίλοι του Απόλλωνα,

Σας χαιρετώ από ακόμη μία έκδοση του Match Program στο πλαίσιο του 117ου αγώνα της ομάδας μας στις Ευρωπαϊκές διοργανώσεις.

Δυστυχώς τα προηγούμενα αποτελέσματα μας έφεραν σε έναν αγώνα

χωρίς βαθμολογικό ενδιαφέρον, ωστόσο η ιστορία της ομάδας μας επιβάλλει όπως κερδίσουμε τον αποψινό αγώνα και να ολοκληρώσουμε το ευρωπαϊκό της οδοιπορικό με όσο το δυνατόν καλύτερο τρόπο.

Προερχόμαστε από τέσσερα ανεπιτυχή αποτελέσματα σε Κύπρο κι Ευρώπη κι αυτό αποτελεί ακόμη ένα κίνητρο για τους ποδοσφαιριστές μας. Οφείλουμε να γυρίσουμε σελίδα και η Βαντούζ φαντάζει ιδανικός αντίπαλος για να φέρουμε θετικό αποτέλεσμα.

Μπορεί να μην έχει την ευρωπαϊκή εμπειρία όπως την ομάδα μας, αλλά η παρουσία σε ευρωπαϊκό όμιλο δεν είναι τυχαία και για να έρθει η νίκη, θα πρέπει οι ποδοσφαιριστές μας να παρουσιάσουν ακόμη καλύτερη εικόνα.

Απόψε αντιμετωπίζουμε την ουραγό του Ε’ ομίλου και μια νίκη θα βοηθήσει τον συντελεστή της ομάδας μας στην ευρωπαϊκή κατάταξη. Ο καλύτερος τρόπος για να αλλάξει το κλίμα και η ψυχολογία στον σύλλογο θα έρθει μόνο με τη νίκη και σε συνδυασμό με μια πολύ καλή εμφάνιση.

Απόψε κλείνει ένας κύκλος 10 ευρωπαϊκών αγώνων και ένα εντατικό πρόγραμμα 20 αγώνων σε διάστημα τριών μηνών! Η προσοχή από αύριο θα στραφεί αποκλειστικά στις εγχώριες διοργανώσεις και θα τα δώσουμε όλα για να αγωνιζόμαστε στην Ευρώπη και την αγωνιστική περίοδο 2023-24.

Dear Apollon fans,

I greet you from yet another edition of the Match Program in the context of our team’s 117th match in European competitions.

Unfortunately, the previous results brought us to a game without contextual interest in terms of progression but the history of our team dictates that we win tonight’s game and finish their European journey in the best way possible.

We come from four unsuccessful results both in domestic and European competitions, and this is another motivation for our footballers. We have to turn a page and Vaduz seems like an ideal opponent to bring a positive result.

They may not have European experience, but their presence in the European group stage is not accidental and in order to win, our players will have to present an even better image.

Tonight, we face the team at bottom of Group E and a win will help our team’s coefficient in the European standings. The best way to change the atmosphere and psychology at the club, it will only come with victory in combination with a very good performance.

Tonight, marks the end of a cycle of 10 European matches and an intensive program of 20 matches over three months! From tomorrow the focus will be exclusively on domestic competitions and we will give everything to compete again in Europe for the 2023-24 season.

“Θα επιστρέψουμε!”

Γεια σας φίλες και φίλοι του Απόλλωνα, απόψε δίνουμε τον τελευταίο μας ευρωπαϊκό αγώνα με αντίπαλο τη Βαντούζ. Ναι μεν αποκλειστήκαμε από τη συνέχεια της διοργάνωσης, ωστόσο δεν παύει να είναι ένας ευρωπαϊκός αγώνας, κάτι που εδραιώνει ακόμη περισσότερο τον

Απόλλωνα στην Ευρώπη. Πιστεύω ότι ο αποκλεισμός οφείλεται κυρίως στον πρώτο αγώνα στο Λιχτενστάιν. Έπρεπε να κερδίσουμε εκείνη την ημέρα κι αν είχαμε εκείνους τους τρεις βαθμούς από την αρχή, θα ήταν διαφορετικά τα πράγματα σήμερα.

Προερχόμαστε από άσχημα αποτελέσματα και οφείλουμε να αλλάξουμε σελίδα. Να βρούμε το σημείο καμπής που θα δώσει τέλος στα αρνητικά αποτελέσματα. Θα παίξουμε για την τιμή της ομάδας μας και για το έμβλημα του Απόλλωνα. Αυτό που χρειαζόμαστε είναι περισσότερη αποφασιστικότητα, ιδιαίτερα στην επίθεση. Πρέπει να ανυψώσουμε την αυτοπεποίθησή μας και να ξεφύγουμε από την άσχημη φόρμα που διανύουμε.

Από κει και πέρα, θεωρώ ότι από την επόμενη μέρα, η εικόνα της ομάδας θα βελτιωθεί ακόμη περισσότερο, επειδή θα έχουμε έναν αποκλειστικό στόχο κάθε βδομάδα και η προσήλωση μας θα είναι το πρωτάθλημα. Είναι πολύ διαφορετική η προσέγγιση όταν είναι ένας αγώνας κάθε Σαββατοκύριακο σε σχέση με αυτό το πρόγραμμα που είχαμε τους τελευταίους μήνες. Κλείνοντας θα ήθελα να πω ότι αυτές τις στιγμές χρειάζεται να είμαστε ενωμένοι, πιο πολύ από ποτέ. Στις δύσκολες περιπτώσεις χρειάζεται περισσότερη ενότητα, περισσότερη δουλειά και ακόμη περισσότερη υποστήριξη από τους οπαδούς. Θα επιστρέψουμε! Καλή μας επιτυχία...

“We will bounce back!”

Dear Apollon fans, tonight, we participate in our final European game of the season against Vaduz FC. Despite being eliminated from the competition, it is still a European game which as Apollon we always stive to win and will always be a huge motivation for our players. We are coming out of a run of bad results and it has to be our incentive to get back to winning ways, using a victory over this game as a turning point towards rekindling the good feeling and honor of our team. We need to recover our confidence and be more determined, especially in attack and we need a good result to turn a page out of our last results. I belive that our first game against Vaduz played a huge role on our bad campaign in Europe and we have to learn a lot from the three points we dropped from the start.

Now we need to look forward and after this game shift all of our attention towards the domestic games were with focus and determination, we can recover from the bad results of the hectic month that passed. We will have more time in our hands to prepare and show up prepared and confident to win our next games.

Consequently, I believe that from the next day the image of the team will improve even more because we will have an exclusive goal every week and our focus will be the championship. It’s a very different approach when it’s a race every weekend compared to this schedule we’ve had for the last few months.

In closing, I would like to say that in these moments we need to be united. More than ever. In difficult situations it takes more unity, more work and even more support from the fans. We will bounce back! Good luck to us...

Η FC Vaduz παίζει στο στάδιο Rheinpark, το οποίο είναι επίσης το Εθνικό Στάδιο της Ποδοσφαιρικής Ομοσπονδίας του Λιχτενστάιν. Έχει χωρητικότητα 5.908 θέσεων (1.232 θέσεις). The history

FC Vaduz was founded in 1932 and admitted to the Swiss Football and Athletics Federation in 1933. Since 2001, FC Vaduz is successfully part of the Swiss professional football League SFL. FC Vaduz is proud to be among the 20 best teams in Switzerland. In addition, FC Vaduz is one of the largest clubs in the region, where not only professional football, but also grassroot and youth football are important assets. In the last years, the club has developed into a positive ambassador for the entire region, in which 300 members with around 16 teams are active. Moreover, FC Vaduz is 48 times Liechtenstein Cup winner and thus world record holder.

FC Vaduz is playing at the Rheinpark Stadium, which is also the National Stadium of the Liechtenstein Football Association. It has a capacity of 5’908 seats (guest stamp: 1’232 seats). The stadium was built in 1998 to accommodate UEFA regulations and European football and has a picturesque setting.

Στις 42 ευρωπαϊκές συμμετοχές έφτασε ο Χάμπος Κυριάκου με την παρουσία του στο Kosicka Futbalova Arena την περασμένη Πέμπτη (27/10) με αντίπαλο την Ντνίπρο-1.

Ο ηγετικός μέσος της ομάδας μας έφτασε τον Ζοάο Πέδρο στη 2η θέση κι απόψε έχει την ευκαιρία να τον ξεπεράσει αφού αν αγωνιστεί, θα μετρήσει 43 ευρωπαϊκές αναμετρήσεις και από εκεί και πέρα θα βλέπει την πρώτη θέση, εκεί όπου βρίσκεται ο Μπρούνο Βάλε.

Ο Πορτογάλος τερματοφύλακας σταμάτησε στις 45 κι ο αρχηγός της ομάδας μας θα έχει την ευκαιρία να τον φτάσει στα επόμενα χρόνια.

Chambos reached Joao and marches towards Vale!

Chambos Kyriakou reached 42 European appearances with his game at the Kosicka Futbalova Arena last Thursday (27/10) against Dnipro-1.

The experienced midfielder reached Joao Pedro in 2nd place and tonight he has the chance to surpass him since, if he plays, he will have 43 European appearances and will aim for the first place, where Bruno Vale is.

The Portuguese goalkeeper reached 45 appearances and our team captain will have the opportunity to reach him in the coming years.

What happened in the first match?

The match ended in a goalless draw in the UEFA Europa Conference League Group E 1st leg in Liechtenstein against Vaduz.

Mr. Catala’s players tried to get the victory, especially in the second half, but from the opportunities they created, they did not manage to get the desired goal and consequently the victory.

Ο Ε’ όμιλος του UEFA Europa Conference League

Η κλήρωση των ομίλων του UEFA Europa Conference League της 26ης Αυγούστου έφερε τον Απόλλωνα στον 5ο όμιλο της διοργάνωσης έχοντας ως αντίπαλους την ΑΖ Άλκμααρ, τη Βαντούζ και τη Ντνίπρο-1.

Στην πρεμιέρα των ομίλων η ομάδα μας αντιμετώπισε εκτός έδρας τη Βαντούζ του Λιχτενστάιν όπου εξήλθε ισόπαλη χωρίς τέρματα.

Στον άλλο αγώνα του ομίλου η Ολλανδική Άλκμααρ επικράτησε της Ουκρανικής Ντνίπρο-1 με 0-1.

Group E of UEFA Europa Conference League

The draw for the UEFA Europa Conference League groups on 26 August placed Apollon into Group E of the competition with AZ Alkmaar, Vaduz and Dnipro-1.

In the opening matchday of the groups, our team faced Vaduz away from home in Lichtenstein, where it ended in a goalless draw.

In the other match of the group, the Dutch side AZ Alkmaar beat the Ukrainian Dnipro-1 with 0-1.

Στη δεύτερη αγωνιστική η ομάδα μας υποδέχθηκε την Ντνίπρο-1 στο ΓΣΠ όπου ηττήθηκε με 1-3. Το πρώτο μας ιστορικό γκολ στους ομίλους

της διοργάνωσης πέτυχε ο Ιωάννης Πίττας με κοντινή προβολή.

Στον άλλο αγώνα της αγωνιστικής η ΑΖ Άλκμααρ επικράτησε της Βαντούζ με 4-1 με τα δύο τελευταία τέρματα να επιτυγχάνονται στις καθυστερήσεις του παιχνιδιού.

Στην 3η αγωνιστική η ομάδα μας αντιμετώπισε την πρωτοπόρο ΑΖ

Άλκμααρ στην Ολλανδία παρουσιάζοντας εξαιρετικό πρόσωπο χωρίς

ωστόσο να καταφέρνει να παίρνει θετικό αποτέλεσμα. Οι Ολλανδοί προηγήθηκαν σε δύο περιπτώσεις με την ομάδα μας να ισοφαρίζει και ισάριθμες φορές ωστόσο το γκολ στο 85’ έμεινε χωρίς απάντηση.

Στον άλλο αγώνα του ομίλου Ντνίπρο και Βαντούζ έμειναν στο 2-2, αποτέλεσμα το οποίο αφήνει ανοικτή την υπόθεση πρόκριση μέχρι το τέλος.

Στην 4η αγωνιστική η ομάδα μας έκανε την υπέρβαση καταφέρνοντας να κερδίσει την επικεφαλής του ομίλου και πρωτοπόρο του ολλανδικού πρωταθλήματος ΑΖ Άλκμααρ με 1-0 χάρις στο «χρυσό»

In the second game, our team welcomed Dnipro-1 to the GSP where they lost 1-3. Our first historic goal in the competition’s group stages was scored by Ioannis Pittas with a close shot.

In the other match of the matchday, AZ Alkmaar beat Vaduz 4-1 with the last two goals coming in stoppage time.

In the 3rd matchday, our team faced group leaders AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, presenting an excellent face without, however, managing to get a positive result. The Dutch side took the lead on two occasions with our team equalizing the same number of times, however the goal in the 85th minute remained unanswered.

In the other match of the group, Dnipro and Vaduz drew 2-2, a result which left qualification open until the end.

In the 4th matchday, our team overcame the group leaders and Dutch league leaders AZ Alkmaar 1-0 thanks to a crucial goal from Valentin Roberge with a diving header. With this victory, our team’s hopes for

Στον άλλο αγώνα δυστυχώς η Βαντούζ δεν άντεξε, έτσι να είχαμε περισσότερες πιθανότητες για πρόκριση αφού η Ντνίπρο-1 σκόραρε στις καθυστερήσεις με 1-2 και πήρε τους τρεις βαθμούς.

Στην 5η αγωνιστική, όπως προαναφέραμε πιο πάνω, η ομάδα μας ταξίδεψε στη Σλοβακία με στόχο να πάρει τη νίκη που ταυτόχρονα θα της έδινε το δικαίωμα για πρόκριση. Δυστυχώς οι Ουκρανοί ήταν καλύτεροι σε όλη τη διάρκεια του αγώνα και επικράτησαν με 1-0.

Στον άλλο αγώνα του ομίλου οι Ολλανδοί επικράτησαν της Βαντούζ με 1-2 κι έφτασαν στους 12 βαθμούς.

In the other match, unfortunately, Vaduz couldn’t hold on for the draw so when Dnipro-1 scored in stoppage time with 1-2 and got the three points, making our path to qualification become more difficult.

In the 5th matchday, as we mentioned above, our team travelled to Slovakia with the aim of getting the victory that would give them the hope of qualifying. Unfortunately, the Ukrainians were better throughout the match and won 1-0 which ended our qualification hopes.

In the other match of the group, the Dutch beat Vaduz 1-2 and reached 12 points.

Η κομητεία του Βαντούζ ιδρύθηκε το 1342. Ο πρίγκιπας Γιόχαν Άνταμ του Λιχτενστάιν αγόρασε το Βαντούζ το 1712, προτού ανακηρυχθεί ανεξάρτητο πριγκιπάτο το 1719. Limassol is the second largest city of Cyprus with a population of approximately 180,000. It is one of six districts and covers an area of 34.87 km2. Located on the southern coast, Limassol stretches around westward to the Paphos district, bordering with the district of Larnaca on the east and with Nicosia on the north. In addition to the recognized popularity as a tourism destination, Limassol is also an administrative and business centre, a port, a resort, the centre of the wine industry and home to many archeological sites.

The vivacious city centre, seems to offer a journey through time where the University with its bustling young students aiming for a brighter future is just a few streets away from the old market and ancient castle which link us to the past. Gracefully blending old with new continues, as across the seafront one can appreciate the cosmopolitan side of Limassol with its contemporary business structures and modern apartment buildings while only several kilometers away one can find charming areas with cobblestone streets, quaint buildings with overhanging terraces under which there are a profusion of small shops, restaurants and cafes.

The city of Limassol has a rich history that goes back to around the 2nd century B.C. The city is situated between the ancient cities of Amathous to the east and Kourion to the west. Limassol was inhabited since the very ancient years and tombs discovered there date back to around the 2nd century B.C., while others date back

to around the 8th and 4th centuries B.C. The few ancient finds that were discovered show that a small settlement existed there which did not manage to develop and flourish.

The city, in the 10th century, was known as Nemesos and the Byzantine emperor, Constantine Porphyrogenitus, refers to this city with this name. The history of the city is mainly known for its events in 1191 A.D., which marked the end of the Byzantine Rule in Cyprus. Limassol was then surrendered to the Frankish Empire of the Lusignan Kings of the medieval Cypriot kingdom. For about three centuries (1192-1489), Limassol experienced a remarkable period of prosperity. In 1489 A.D., the Queen of Cyprus, Ekaterini Cornaro, surrendered Cyprus to the city of Venice. This lasted until the Turkish Occupation took place in 1570 A.D. Then the British conquered Cyprus in 1878, while in 1960 significant changes followed the liberation of Cyprus, which contributed to the cultural and artistic life of the city. Schools, theatres, art galleries, music halls and football clubs were formed and played a significant role in the cultural life of Limassol.

The city of Limassol was developed much after the Turkish invasion of 1974. Luxurious hotels, restaurants and numerous entertainment clubs were built and thus the city soon became a significant touristic centre.

Cyprus is located in the northeast of the Mediterranean, at the intersection point of Europe, Asia and Africa. From the dawn of history, Cyprus consists one of the most interesting places of the area, with a rich cultural history. Ancient Greeks and the period of the Byzantine Empire have left a strong heritage, that nowadays, any visitor can visit and admire.

Cyprus is bordering with Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt. The north part of Cyprus has been occupied by Turkey since 1974. In 1983, after violating the Charter of the United Nations, Turkey proceeded into declaring the so-called «Turkish Democratic Republic of Northern Cyprus» that until today it is only recognised by Turkey. Cyprus is gifted with golden beaches, primeval forests and other wonderful natural landscapes. The environment of the island is now among the healthiest of the world, free of the pollution and other side-effects of the industrial counties. As far as criminality is concerned, it is almost non-existent.

Cyprus enjoys a wonderful Mediterranean climate. Apart from the rainfall period between November and March, Cyprus is constantly sunny. The average temperatures range from 8°C (42°F), during the coldest month, December, to 35°C (96°F) during the warmest month, which is August. However, weather is not the only attractive characteristic of the island. The people of Cyprus are equally famous, for the warm and friendly welcoming they provide to their visitors.

In May, 2004, Cyprus became officially a member of the European Union and in 2008 entered the Eurozone, thus connecting Europe and Middle East and the rest of the world.

Having been recognized as the ultimate business and financial centre in the wider area, the island has competitive advantages in sectors such as tourism, provision of consulting services, banking and insuring services, investments and construction business, shipping and telecommunications.

Τελευταίο ευρωπαϊκό παιχνίδι της ομάδας μας για την αγωνιστική περίοδο 2022-23, χωρίς ωστόσο να υπάρχει το βαθμολογικό ενδιαφέρον αφού αποκλειστήκαμε. Τι κίνητρο βρίσκετε; Ναι μεν δεν υπάρχει βαθμολογικό κίνητρο απόψε αλλά αγωνιζόμαστε σε μια ευρωπαϊκή διοργάνωση. Δεν έχουν την ευκαιρία όλοι οι ποδοσφαιριστές να αγωνίζονται σε ομίλους και ευτυχώς για την ομάδα μας τα καταφέραμε πέντε φορές τα τελευταία χρόνια. Κίνητρο αποτελεί η ιστορία της ομάδας μας, ο κόσμος μας αλλά και να δώσουμε ένα τέλος στα ανεπιτυχή αποτελέσματα. Θέλουμε να κλείσουμε τη διοργάνωση με τον καλύτερο δυνατό τρόπο και να επιστρέψουμε στις νίκες.

Πως μπορεί να αλλάξει το κλίμα κατά την άποψή σου;

Καταρχήν θέλω να απολογηθώ εκ μέρους όλων των συμποδοσφαιριστών μου για τα τελευταία αποτελέσματα της ομάδας. Πιστεύουμε όλοι στα αποδυτήρια ότι θα φέρουμε ξανά χαρά στην οικογένεια του Απόλλωνα.

Για να αλλάξει το κλίμα χρειαζόμαστε θετικά αποτελέσματα. Βρισκόμαστε στην αρχή του πρωταθλήματος και υπάρχει πολύς δρόμος. Πρέπει να είμαστε συγκεντρωμένοι και να βλέπουμε κάθε παιχνίδι διαφορετικά.

Με την τελευταία σου συμμετοχή στην Σλοβακία έφτασες στα 42 ευρωπαϊκά παιχνίδια κάτι που σε φέρνει στη 2η θέση της σχετικής λίστας μαζί με τον Ζοάο Πέδρο. Με ενδεχόμενη συμμετοχή απόψε φτάνεις στις 43, δύο αγώνες μακριά από την κορυφή που βρίσκεται ο Μπρούνο Βάλε. Τι σημαίνει αυτό για σένα; Είναι ωραίο και σημαντικό να πετυχαίνεις ατομικά επιτεύγματα ιδιαίτερα σε μια μεγάλη ομάδα όπως είναι ο Απόλλωνας. Παραδέχομαι όμως ότι ποτέ δεν έψαχνα τις ατομικές διακρίσεις και ούτε γνώριζα πως έφτασα σε αυτόν τον αριθμό. Θέλω η ομάδα μου να είναι όσο καλύτερη μπορεί και αυτός είναι ο προσωπικός μου στόχος. It’s our team’s last European game for the 2022-23 season, but with points being of little significance since we’ve been eliminated. What motivates you?

Yes, there is no motivation tonight, outside of the fact that we’re are competing in a European competition. Not all footballers have the opportunity to compete in the group stages and fortunately for our team we have managed to do so five times in recent years. Motivation is the history of our club and the badge, but also to put an end to the negative results. We want to close the tournament in the best possible way and get back to winning ways.

How can the mood change in your opinion?

First of all, I want to apologize on behalf of all my teammates for the team’s latest results. We all believe in the locker room that we will bring joy to the Apollon family again.

To change the mood, we need positive results. We are at the beginning of the season and there is a long way to go. We have to be focused and look at each game differently.

With your last performance in Slovakia, you reached 42 European games, which puts you in 2nd place on the appearance list together with Joao Pedro. If you play tonight you would reach 43, two games less than Bruno Valle. What does this mean to you?

It’s nice and important to achieve individual achievements especially in a big team like Apollon. But I admit that I was never looking for the individual distinctions and didn’t even know how I got to that number. I want my team to be the best it can be and that is my personal goal. From the first day I put on the Apollo jersey until the last, I want to give my best!
