ολοκληρώνονται οι εντός έδρας αναμετρήσεις μας, κόντρα στη Λάτσιο.

Το όμορφο αυτό ταξίδι το οποίο άρχισε στα μέσα του περασμένου Ιουλίου από το άσημο και παγωμένο Άλυτους της Λιθουανίας κόντρα στη Στούμπρας, ολοκληρώνεται στις 13 Δεκεμβρίου στην κοσμοπολίτικη Μασσαλία, κόντρα στην πολυδιαφημισμένη Ολυμπίκ Μαρσέιγ στο επιβλητικό Βελοντρόμ.

Ο ένας μόλις βαθμός ο οποίος εξασφαλίσαμε στον όμιλο, σίγουρα δεν αντικατοπτρίζει την προσπάθεια την οποία κατέβαλαν οι ποδοσφαιριστές του κ. Αυγουστή στις μέχρι τώρα αναμετρήσεις τους. Η ομάδα μας για πολλοστή φορά αντιμετώπισε στα ίσα τεράστιες ομάδες και με τις εμπειρίες που αποκόμισε, έβαλε παρακαταθήκη για το ευρωπαϊκό της μέλλον. Πλέον απαλλαγμένη από κάθε άγχος, θα παλέψει στις δύο τελευταίες αγωνιστικές για να διεκδικήσει όφελος, το οποίο θα φέρει βαθμούς στη βαθμολογία της UEFA και σημαντικά οικονομικά έσοδα στα ταμεία του συλλόγου. Παιχνίδια τα οποία όλοι πρέπει να τα απολαύσουμε, με την ευχή όπως στη νέα αγωνιστική περίοδο. η ομάδα μας να αγωνιστεί στους ομίλους της κορυφαίας διασυλλογικής διοργάνωσης.

Dear Friends of Apollon FC,

The European journey of our team in the 8th group of the 20182019 Europa League reaches towards its end, playing tonight here in GSP Stadium, our last home game against Lazio.

This beautiful journey, which began in mid-July from the cold small town Alytus of Lithuania against Stumbras, ends on 31st December in cosmopolitan Marseilles against the well-known Marseille Olympique in the Vélodrome stadium.

The only one point we have secured in the group certainly does not reflect the effort made by Mr Avgoustis’ football players in their so far battles. Our team has, for once again faced equally huge teams, and put an archive on its European future.

Free from stress, our team plays its last two games to claim a benefit, which will bring points in the UEFA score as well as significant financial income in the club’s funds.

Such games should be enjoyed from all the football fans, hoping that our team will compete in the clubs of the top club competition in the new season.

Η ομάδα μας επιστρέφει απόψε στον όμορφο ποδοσφαιρικό κόσμο του UEFA Europa League απέναντι σ’ ένα πολύ δυνατό αντίπαλο, ο οποίος ήδη εξασφάλισε την πρόκριση του στην επόμενη φάση της διοργάνωσης. Όταν προκριθήκαμε στους ομίλους της διοργάνωσης, προσωπικά προσδοκούσα σε μία κλήρωση που θα μας έδινε ρεαλιστικές ελπίδες να προσπαθήσουμε για τη μεγάλη υπέρβαση, η οποία θα ήταν η πρόκριση στην επόμενη φάση της διοργάνωσης. Όμως δυστυχώς, η κληρωτίδα δεν ήταν... φιλική για εμάς, αφού τοποθέτησε τον Απόλλωνα στον πιο δύσκολο όμιλο της διοργάνωσης.

Θεωρώ και είναι κοινώς αποδεκτό, ότι η μέχρι τώρα παρουσία μας είναι πέρα για πέρα θετική κόντρα σε πολύ έμπειρους, δυνατούς και φιλόδοξους αντιπάλους. Στα εναπομείναντα δύο παιχνίδια, η ομάδα μας θα επιδιώξει να αυξήσει τη βαθμολογική της συγκομιδή και ταυτόχρονα να δοθεί χρόνος σε ποδοσφαιριστές, για να αποκτήσουν τις πολύ σημαντικές και βοηθητικές εμπειρίες που προσφέρει η μεγάλη αυτή διοργάνωση.

Αισθάνομαι ιδιαίτερα περήφανος για τους ποδοσφαιριστές μου για τη μέχρι τώρα προσπάθεια που κατέβαλαν από τα μέσα του περασμένου καλοκαιριού και έδωσαν σε όλους το δικαίωμα να απολαύσουμε για πολλοστή φορά τον όμορφο κόσμο των ευρωπαϊκών διοργανώσεων. Κλείνοντας, εύχομαι να απολαύσετε απόψε ένα όμορφο αγώνα και επίσης να πετύχουμε τους στόχους μας φέτος, ούτως ώστε ο Απόλλωνας να συμμετέχει και στην επόμενη αγωνιστική περίοδο σε ομίλους ευρωπαϊκής διοργάνωσης.

Our team returns tonight to the beautiful football world of UEFA Europe League against a very strong opponent, who already secured qualification to the next phase of the tournament. After our qualification to the groups of the tournament, I was personally looking forward to a draw which would give us realistic hopes towards a great overrun, being the qualification to the next stage of the tournament. Unfortunately, the lottery was not friendly to us, since Apollon was placed in the most difficult group of the tournament.

I believe and it is definitely commonly accepted, that our so far presence has been absolutely positive against very experienced, strong and ambitious opponents. In the remaining games our team will seek to increase its points and time will be given to players to gain very important and helpful experiences offered by this great organization.

I feel very proud indeed of my players for their so far presence since the last mid-summer, giving everyone the right once again to enjoy the beautiful world of European competitions.

Last but not least, I wish you to enjoy a beautiful game tonight and also to achieve our goals this year, so that Apollon participates in the next year’s European groupings.

Η Società Sportiva Lazio είναι ο πρώτος επαγγελματικός ιταλικός αθλητικός σύλλογος με έδρα τη Ρώμη, γνωστός για την ποδοσφαιρική του δραστηριότητα. Società Sportiva Lazio is the first professional Italian sports club based in Rome, most known for its football activity. The society, was founded on 9 January 1900 in the Prati district of Rome, plays in the Serie A and have spent most of their history in the top tier of Italian football.

Lazio have been Italian champions twice, and have won the Coppa Italia six times, the Supercoppa italiana four times, and both the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and UEFA Super Cup on one occasion. The club had their first major success in 1958, winning the domestic cup. In 1974, they won their first Serie A title. The 1990s have been the most successful period in Lazio’s history, seeing them win the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 1999, the Serie A title in 2000, and reaching their first UEFA Cup final in 1998. Due to a severe economic crisis in 2002 that forced President Sergio Cragnotti out of the club along with several star players being sold, Lazio’s success in the league declined. Lazio’s traditional kit colours are sky blue shirts and white shorts with white socks; the colours are reminiscent of Rome’s ancient Hellenic legacy. Sky blue socks have also been interchangeably used as home colours. The club’s colours have led to their Italian nickname of Biancocelesti. Their home is the 70,634 capacity Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Lazio’s traditional club badge and symbol is the eagle, which was chosen by founding member Luigi Bigiarelli. It is an acknowledgment to the emblem of Zeus (the god of sky and thunder in Greek mythology) commonly known as the Aquila; Lazio’s use of the symbol has led to two of their nicknames; le Aquile (“the Eagles”) and Aquilotti (“Eaglets”). Limassol

Limassol is the second largest city of Cyprus with a population of approximately 180,000. It is one of six districts and covers an area of 34.87 km2. Gracefully blending old with new continues, as across the seafront one can appreciate the cosmopolitan side of Limassol with its contemporary business structures and modern apartment buildings while only several kilometers away one can find charming areas with cobblestone streets, quaint buildings with overhanging terraces under which there are a profusion of small shops, restaurants and cafes.

The city of Limassol has a rich history that goes back to around the 2nd century B.C. The city is situated between the ancient cities of Amathous to the east and Kourion to the west. Limassol was inhabited since the very ancient years and tombs discovered there date back to around the

2nd century B.C., while others date back to around the 8th and 4th centuries B.C. The few ancient finds that were discovered show that a small settlement existed there which did not manage to develop and flourish.

The city, in the 10th century, was known as Nemesos and the Byzantine emperor, Constantine Porphyrogenitus, refers to this city with this name. The history of the city is mainly known for its events in 1191 A.D., which marked the end of the Byzantine Rule in Cyprus. Limassol was then surrendered to the Frankish Empire of the Lusignan Kings of the medieval Cypriot kingdom. For about three centuries (1192-1489), Limassol experienced a remarkable period of prosperity. In 1489 A.D., the Queen of Cyprus, Ekaterini Cornaro, surrendered Cyprus to the city of Venice. This lasted until the Turkish Occupation took place in 1570 A.D. Then the British conquered Cyprus in 1878, while in 1960 significant changes followed the liberation of Cyprus, which contributed to the cultural and artistic life of the city. Schools, theatres, art galleries, music halls and football clubs were formed and played a significant role in the cultural life of Limassol.

The city of Limassol was developed much after the Turkish invasion of 1974. Luxurious hotels, restaurants and numerous entertainment clubs were built and thus the city soon became a significant touristic centre.

Η ομάδα μας δεν φοβήθηκε και είδε στα μάτια τη Λάτσιο στο φημισμένο Ολίμπικο της Ρώμης για την 1η αγωνιστική των ομίλων του UEFA Europa League.

Οι Ιταλοί όντας εμπειρότεροι και λιγότερο επιπόλαιοι, κατάφεραν να κερδίσουν με 2-1, σε ένα αγώνα όπου η ομάδα μας μπορούσε να πάρει κάτι περισσότερο.

Ο Απόλλωνας παρουσίασε δύο πρόσωπα στον αγωνιστικό χώρο και αδίκησε τον εαυτό του, ωστόσο πολλοί θαύμασαν τον τρόπο που αγωνίστηκε στο δεύτερο ημίχρονο που κατάφερε και περιόρισε την αντίπαλό του στο μισό γήπεδο.

Our team was not discouraged and played fiercely against Lazio in the famous Olimpico of Rome for the first match of the UEFA Europa League.

The Italians being more experienced and less frivolous managed to win by 2-1 in a match where our team could get more.

Apollon presented two faces on the pitch, treating the team unfairly, but many admired the way the team fought in the second half, managing to narrow the opponent to half the court.

Αήττητος με Ιταλούς εντός έδρας

Απόλλωνας και Λάτσιο δεν είναι η πρώτη φορά που συναντώνται. Η

ομάδα μας αναμετρήθηκε με την ομάδα της Ρώμης ακόμη δύο φορές την περίοδο 2013-14 για την φάση των ομίλων του UEFA Europa League.

Στη μία αναμέτρηση οι Ιταλοί πήραν τη νίκη με 2-1 (όπως και φέτος)

ενώ στην άλλη (στο Γ.Σ.Π.), ο αγώνας έληξε ισόπαλος χωρίς τέρματα.

Σε σύνολο τριών αγώνων η ομάδα μας έχει δύο ήττες και μία ισοπαλία.

Εκείνη η ισοπαλία κράτησε αήττητο τον Απόλλωνα κόντρα σε Ιταλική

ομάδα εντός έδρας, κάτι που επαναλήφθηκε και πέρσι απέναντι στην Αταλάντα, όταν η ομάδα μας ισοφάρισε σε 1-1 στις καθυστερήσεις.

Η πρώτη αναμέτρηση του Απόλλωνα με Ιταλική ομάδα στην Κύπρο ήταν στα πλαίσια του Β’ γύρου του Κυπέλλου UEFA και διεξήχθη στις 3 Νοεμβρίου του 1993 στο κατάμεστο Τσίρειο Στάδιο παρουσία 20.000

Unbeaten with Italians in a home match

This is not the first time of Apollon and Lazio encounter. Our team confronted the Rome team twice more during the 2013-14 period for the UEFA Europa League group stage.

In one game, the Italians won 2-1 (same as this year) while in the other game (at GSP stadium) the match ended with no goals. In a total of three games, our team has two defeats and one tie.

That tie held Apollo unbeaten against an Italian team in a home match, which was repeated last year in Atalanta when our team equalized to 1-1 in the delays.

The first match of Apollon with an Italian team in Cyprus was in the framework of the second round of the UEFA Cup and was held on

Ήταν η πρώτη παρουσία της ομάδας

μας στη φάση των ομίλων του UEFA Europa League και η απειρία και ο ενθουσιασμός ήταν διακριτά στοιχεία στο παιχνίδι μας.

Τέλος, στις 2 Νοεμβρίου του 2017, η ομάδα μας αρνήθηκε να χάσει και πάλι από Ιταλική ομάδα. Αυτή τη φορά κόντρα στην ταλαντούχα oμάδα της Αταλάντα, όταν ο Ζελάγια ισοφάρισε στις καθυστερήσεις του αγώνα σε 1-1.

Αυτά τα τρία αποτελέσματα δημιουργούν ένα φοβερό στατιστικό αφού ο Απόλλωνας αρνείται να χάσει εντός έδρας από Ιταλική ομάδα! Ταυτόχρονα ωστόσο, δεν καταφέρνει ούτε και να κερδίσει, κάτι που δεν έκανε καμιά Κυπριακή ομάδα βέβαια. Συνολικά με Ιταλικές ομάδες ο «Θρύλος» έχει απολογισμό τέσσερις ήττες και τρεις ισοπαλίες.

3rd November 1993 in the crowded Tsireio Stadium in the presence of 20,000 spectators. Our team feels proud to have a 3-3 draw with the afterwards champion of the particular tournament, Inter, writing a “golden” page in the European history of the club.

The second case where our team hosted a team from Italy was on 24th October 2013, when Lazio hosted at the GSP stadium and left with a tie, without goals. It was our first team presence in the UEFA Europa League group stage, and inexperience and enthusiasm were distinct elements in our game.

Finally, on 2nd November 2017, our team refused to lose again by an Italian team. This time against the little-known but talented Atalanta when Zelaya equaled the score to 1-1 in the delays of the match.

These three results create an awesome statistic as Apollon refuses to lose at home from an Italian team! At the same time, however, a winning score has not been managed yet, by any other Cypriot team of course. With Italian teams, the Legend has a total of four defeats and three draws.

5η αγωνιστική η αποψινή στη διοργάνωση του UEFA Europa League 2018-2019, με το σκηνικό στον 8ο όμιλο όπου συμμετέχει η ομάδα μας να έχει ξεκαθαρίσει από την προηγούμενη αγωνιστική, καθώς Άιντραχτ και Λάτσιο έχουν εξασφαλίσει μαθηματικά την πρόκριση τους στην επόμενη φάση της διοργάνωσης.

Η Γερμανική ομάδα μετά το νικηφόρο πέρασμα της από το Γ.Σ.Π. κόντρα στην ομάδα μας, πέτυχε την 4η συνεχόμενη νίκη της στη διοργάνωση, παραμένοντας στην πρώτη θέση του ομίλου με 12 βαθμούς. Την Άιντραχτ στους «32» της διοργάνωσης θα ακολουθήσει η Λάτσιο, η οποία με τη νίκη την οποία πέτυχε στη Ρώμη κόντρα στην Μαρσέιγ έφτασε στους 9 βαθμούς, αφήνοντας τη φιναλίστ της περσινής διοργάνωσης με μόλις 1 βαθμό. Μοναδικό ενδιαφέρον στον όμιλο η πρώτη θέση, την οποία διεκδικούν στις τελευταίες δύο αγωνιστικές οι Άιντραχτ και Λάτσιο.

The tonight’s game is the 5th one in 2018-2019 UEFA Europe League, with the set in the 8th group of the tournament having been cleared from the previous season, as Eintracht and Lazio have secured accurately their qualification in the next stage of the event.

The German team after its victorious game at the GSP Stadium against our team achieved its 4th consecutive victory in the event, remaining at the top of the group with 12 points. Eintracht in the “32 of the tournament” follows Lazio, which with the victory achieved in Rome against Marseille reached 9 points, leaving the last year’s finalist with 1 point only. The first place in the group is indeed of great interest, and it is being claimed in the last two games by Eintracht and Lazio.

Την ήττα με ψηλά το κεφάλι γνώρισε ο Απόλλωνας στο ΓΣΠ από την

Άιντραχτ Φρανκφούρτης με 2-3 στο πλαίσιο της 4ης αγωνιστικής του UEFA Europa League.

Οι Γερμανοί προηγήθηκαν με τον Γιόβιτς στο 17’ από κοντινή απόσταση

με την ομάδα μας να προσπαθεί να ισοφαρίσει, ωστόσο οι προσπάθειες των ποδοσφαιριστών μας παρέμεναν άκαρπες. Στο 37’ αποβλήθηκε από

τον διαιτητή του αγώνα ο προπονητής μας κ. Αυγουστή.

Στο Β΄ μέρος η ομάδα μας συνέχισε να πιέζει, ωστόσο ήταν οι φιλοξενούμενοι αυτοί οι οποίοι κατάφεραν να σκοράρουν. Στο 55’ ο Αλλέρ με κοντινή προβολή έκανε το 0-2 και τρία λεπτά αργότερα ο Γκατσίνοβιτς με σουτ από το ύψος της περιοχής διαμόρφωσε το 0-3.

Apollon was defeated from Eintracht Frankfurt in the GSP stadium with 2-3 in the 4th match of the UEFA Europa League. The Germans preceded Jovic in the 17‘ from a short distance with our team trying to tie the score but the efforts of our players were still fruitless. In the 37‘, our coach Mr Avgoustis was dismissed by the referee. In the second part, our team continued to push, however the guests were the ones to manage to score. In the 55‘ Aller with a short projection scored the 0-2 and three minutes later, Gacinovic formed the 0-3 score with a shot from the height of the area.

Our footballers were not discouraged and fought until the end. Their efforts were rewarded with two goals by Zelaya managing to limit the score. Originally, the Argentine striker scored in the 71’ with a headshot, after Pedro’s lead and deferred down to 2-3 with penalties in the delays. Meanwhile and particularly in the 81’, Stedera was eliminated with a second yellow card.

The tonight’s game is the 93rd at the European Championships for our team, which hosts at the GSP Stadium the Italian Lazio, aiming to win the first victory in the 8th group of the event, which will be the 28th in our European Championship history. Below in detail all the European matches of our team and their results:

CYPRUS... The pearl of the Mediterranean

Cyprus is located in the northeast of the Mediterranean, at the intersection point of Europe, Asia and Africa. From the dawn of history, Cyprus consists one of the most interesting places of the area, with a rich cultural history. Ancient Greeks and the period of the Byzantine Empire have left a strong heritage, that nowadays, any visitor can visit and admire.

Cyprus is bordering with Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt. The north part of Cyprus has been occupied by Turkey since 1974. In 1983, after violating the Charter of the United Nations, Turkey proceeded into declaring the so-called «Turkish Democratic Republic of Northern Cyprus» that until today it is only recognised by Turkey. Cyprus is gifted with golden beaches, primeval forests and other wonderful natural landscapes. The environment of the island is now among the healthiest of the world, free of the pollution and other side-effects of the industrial counties. As far as criminality is concerned, it is almost non-existent.

Cyprus enjoys a wonderful Mediterranean climate. Apart from the rainfall period between November and March, Cyprus is constantly sunny. The average temperatures range from 8°C (42°F), during the coldest month, December, to 35°C (96°F) during the warmest month, which is August. However, weather is not the only attractive characteristic of the island. The people of Cyprus are equally famous, for the warm and friendly welcoming they provide to their visitors.

In May, 2004, Cyprus became officially a member of the European Union and in 2008 entered the Eurozone, thus connecting Europe and Middle East and the rest of the world.

Having been recognized as the ultimate business and financial centre in the wider area, the island has competitive advantages in sectors such as tourism, provision of consulting services, banking and insuring services, investments and construction business, shipping and telecommunications.

ΔΩΣΟΥΜΕ ΟΛΑ!

Αισθάνομαι ιδιαίτερα περήφανος που για δεύτερη συνεχόμενη αγωνιστική περίοδο συμμετέχω με τον Απόλλωνα στις ευρωπαϊκές διοργανώσεις και πιο συγκεκριμένα στον όμορφο κόσμο του UEFA Europa League. Στα δύο αυτά πολύ όμορφα ταξίδια αντιμετώπισα αντιπάλους παγκοσμίου επιπέδου, αγωνίστηκα σε όμορφα ποδοσφαιρικά γήπεδα και απέκτησα πολύ όμορφες και εποικοδομητικές για το μέλλον μου εμπειρίες. Μέτρησα δυνάμεις κόντρα σε ομάδες όπως η Λυών, Αταλάντα, Έβερτον, Μαρσέιγ, Λάτσιο και Άιντραχτ, εκπληρώνοντας αν όχι όλα, πολλά από τα ποδοσφαιρικά μου όνειρα.

Πλέον υπολείπονται ακόμη δύο πολύ δύσκολοι και ταυτόχρονα όμορφοι αγώνες, για να ολοκληρώσουμε την παρουσία μας στον 8ο όμιλο της διοργάνωσης. Μπορεί να μην υπάρχει βαθμολογικό κίνητρο όσον αφορά θέμα πρόκρισης, ωστόσο τα κίνητρα σε τέτοιου είδους παιχνίδια είναι πολλά και σημαντικά, όχι μόνο για τον κάθε ποδοσφαιριστή ξεχωριστά, αλλά και την ομάδα γενικότερα.

Ο Απόλλωνας μέσα από τις συνεχόμενες ευρωπαϊκές του παρουσίες έχει μεγαλώσει σε βαθμό που να αντιμετωπίζει ομάδες όπως η Βασιλεία και πολλές άλλες στα ίσα. Γι’ αυτό και απόψε έχουμε καθήκον να τα δώσουμε όλα και να διεκδικήσουμε τη νίκη απέναντι στην ομάδα της Λάτσιο.

Εύχομαι σε όλους καλό αγώνα και αναμένω να συνεχίσετε να μας στηρίζετε τόσο στους ευρωπαϊκούς όσο και στους αγώνες των εγχώριων διοργανώσεων.

I am particularly proud that for a second consecutive season I participate with Apollon in the European competitions and more specifically in the beautiful world of UEFA Europe League .

On these two very beautiful journeys I faced world-class opponents, I competed in beautiful football fields and acquired significant and constructive experiences for my future. I measured forces against teams such as Lyon, Atalanta, Everton, Marseille, Lazio and Eintracht, fulfilling many of my football dreams, if not all.

There are still two very difficult and at the same time beautiful games to complete our presence in the 8th group of the event. There may not be a scoring motivation in terms of qualification but the incentives for such games are numerous and important, not just for each individual player but also for the group in general.

Apollon, through its consecutive European presence, has grown to an extent of being able to face groups such as Basel and many others on equal terms. That is why we have a duty tonight to give it all and claim the win against Lazio.

I wish everyone to enjoy this great game and I hope you will continue to support us both in the European and in the domestic competitions games.

Ο Απόλλωνας Λεμεσού αγωνίζεται για ακόμη μια χρονιά στις ευρωπαϊκές διοργανώσεις μακριά από τη Λεμεσό. Η ομάδα μας δήλωσε ως έδρα το Γήπεδο ΓΣΠ στην πρωτεύουσα Λευκωσία, το οποίο είναι το μεγαλύτερο και πιο σύγχρονο γήπεδο της Κύπρου.

Κτίστηκε το 1999, είναι κατηγορίας 4 και έχει χωρητικότητα 22.829 θέσεων. Οι διαστάσεις του γηπέδου είναι 105mX68m και ο φωτισμός του 1500 Lux.

Ελπίζουμε ότι την επόμενη χρονιά να μπορούμε να αγωνιστούμε στη φυ-

σική μας έδρα στη Λεμεσό, εφόσον γίνουν οι απαιτούμενες αναβαθμίσεις

στο Τσίρειο Στάδιο, μέχρι την ανέγερση του νέου γηπέδου της Λεμεσού.

GSP Stadium

Apollon Limassol is once again competing in European Competitions away from Limassol. Apollon stated as home groud GSP stadium, given that it is the most modern stadium in Cyprus.

Built in 1999, is a category 4 stadium and can seat up to 22.829 people. Its dimensions are 105mX68m and its flood lighting is 15000 Lux. We hope that this upcoming season we will be able to compete in our legit home ground in Limassol, as long as the required upgrades take place at Tsirio Stadium, until the construction of the new stadium of Limassol.
