Αγαπητοί ομοϊδεάτες, σας χαιρετώ από μία ακόμη ευρωπαϊκή έκδοση, με αφορμή την έβδομη διαδοχική παρουσία της ομάδας μας στις Ευρωπαϊκές διοργανώσεις, κάτι το οποίο ξεπέρασε το προηγούμενο ρεκόρ της ένδοξης ιστορίας του συλλόγου μας.

Ο αποψινός αγώνας διεξάγεται στα πλαίσια του Α’ προκριματικού γύρου του UEFA Europa League και είναι ο πρώτος εντός έδρας για την αγωνιστική περίοδο 2019-2020.

Το σκορ του πρώτου αγώνα στη Λιθουανία δεν εφησυχάζει κανένα ποδοσφαιριστή και κανένα μέλος της τεχνικής ηγεσίας, ενώ άπαντες θα παρουσιαστούν με σοβαρότητα και σεβασμό όπως αρμόζει στο όνομά του Απόλλωνα.

Η Κάουνο Ζαλγκίρις, έχοντας γνωρίσει την ήττα με 0-2 στον πρώτο αγώνα, ταξίδεψε στην Κύπρο για να διεκδικήσει κάθε ελπίδα πρόκρισης που της αναλογεί. Η σοβαρότητα, η θέληση και η αγωνιστική πειθαρχεία την οποία επέδειξαν οι ποδοσφαιριστές μας στον αγώνα της προηγούμενης εβδομάδας, ήταν τα στοιχεία τα οποία μας έδωσαν την πρώτη σπουδαία φετινή μας νίκη.

Ο Απόλλωνας συμπληρώνει απόψε εδώ στο ΓΣΠ 96 ευρωπαϊκές συμμετοχές και έχει ως στόχο, την τρέχουσα αγωνιστική περίοδο να ξεπεράσει τον αριθμό των 102 συμμετοχών, κάτι το οποίο θα σημαίνει την τρίτη διαδοχική πρόκριση και πέμπτη συνολικά στους ομίλους του UEFA Europa League. Για να το πετύχουμε αυτό, χρειαζόμαστε τη βοήθεια όλων: Διοίκησης, τεχνικής ηγεσίας, ποδοσφαιριστών και προπαντός, του μεγάλου κόσμου του Απόλλωνα Λεμεσού.

Dear Apollon fans, I greet you in one more European match program edition stemming from the seventh consecutive presence of our team in the European tournaments, something which exceeded the former record of our club’s glorious history.

The match tonight is for the First Qualifying Round of the UEFA Europa League and is the first home game for the 2019-2020 season.

The score of the first leg in Lithuania can’t make any football player and member of the technical staff complacent, and everyone will be focused and respectful as it befits the name of Apollon. Kauno Zalgiris, having been defeated in the first leg 0-2, travelled to Cyprus to do anything possible to qualify.

The commitment, the will and discipline shown by our players in the first leg last week, were the elements that gave us such a huge win.

Tonight’s match is the 96th in all European Competitions for Apollon and the goal, in the current season, is to exceed 102 matches, something that will indicate the third consecutive and fifth overall qualification to the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. To do so, we need everyone’s help: Board, technical staff, football players and above all the great fans of Apollon Limassol.

Φίλες και φίλοι του Απόλλωνα, η νέα αγωνιστική περίοδος ξεκίνησε την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα με τη σπουδαία εκτός έδρας νίκη μας επί της Κάουνο Ζαλγκίρις με 0-2. Η ομάδα μας αν και δεν βρίσκεται στον απόλυτο βαθμό ετοιμότητας, ανταποκρίθηκε πλήρως στις δυσκολίες του αγώνα.

Μπορεί ο αντίπαλος να διαθέτει ρυθμό και συνοχή, εξαιτίας των 19 επίσημων αγώνων που έδωσε στην τρέχουσα αγωνιστική περίοδο, ωστόσο η εμπειρία, η ποιότητα και η διάθεση που επέδειξαν οι ποδοσφαιριστές μας, μας οδήγησαν στο επιθυμητό αποτέλεσμα.

Απόψε στο ΓΣΠ, ευελπιστώ ότι η ομάδα μας θα επιδείξει την ίδια σιγουριά και αυτοπεποίθηση όπως και στον πρώτο αγώνα, με στόχο την επίτευξη ενός γρήγορου τέρματος, το οποίο θα απελευθερώσει τους ποδοσφαιριστές μας από κάθε ίχνος άγχους. Ο Απόλλωνας έχει ενισχυθεί σε όλες τις γραμμές τη φετινή καλοκαιρινή περίοδο με τη διοίκηση να βρίσκεται συνεχώς στο πλευρό μας. Αναγνωρίζω τα προβλήματα τα οποία αντιμετωπίζει η μεγάλη μάζα των φίλων της ομάδας μας με την κάρτα οπαδού και τη διαδρομή Λεμεσός - Λευκωσία, ωστόσο οι ποδοσφαιριστές της ομάδας υπόσχονται ότι θα δώσουν σε κάθε αγώνα τον καλύτερο τους εαυτό, με αδιαπραγμάτευτο στόχο την πρόκριση τους στον επόμενο προκριματικό γύρο του UEFA Europa League.

Dear Apollon fans, the new season began last week with a great victory away from home against Kauno Zalgiris 0-2. Our team, despite not being at the desired fitness levels, rose to the occasion and managed to get the desired result.

Although our opponent is in a more advanced stage in the current football season having already played 19 matches, the experience, the quality and the willingness shown by our players lead to the desirable result.

Tonight, in GSP, I hope that our team will show the same certainty and confidence as in the first leg, aiming to score a quick goal which will release our players from the pressure and the stress that they may have.

Apollon will be strengthened in all lines in the summer period and the board is always by our side. We have looked into all the problems that the majority of our fans have pointed out, the fan card and the journey from Limassol to Nicosia, However, our football players promise that they will do their best towards the non negotiable aim which they have set, which is the qualification to next qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.

Η ΙΣΤΟΡΙΑ ΤΗΣ ΟΜΑΔΑΣ

Η ιδέα για τον ποδοσφαιρικό σύλλογο Spyris δημιουργήθηκε στην ποδοσφαιρική σχολή του Κάουνας με όνομα Tauras to 2004, όταν οι προπονητές της σχολής αποφάσισαν να δώσουν την ευκαιρία σε απόφοιτους της σχολής να συνεχίσουν την ποδοσφαιρική τους καριέρα και να γίνουν μέλος ενός επαγγελματικού ποδοσφαιρικού συλλόγου. Για εφτά χρόνια, από το 2005 ο σύλλογος έπαιζε στο νότιο όμιλο της Λιθουανικής Ποδοσφαιρικής Ομοσπονδίας LFF II (3η κατηγορία) και για μια χρονιά, το 2010 μετονομάστηκε σε Aisciai Kaunas. Η ομάδα τερμάτισε δεύτερη εκείνη την χρονιά.

Το 2013, ο ποδοσφαιρικός σύλλογος Spyris ξεκίνησε να αγωνίζεται στην κατηγορία LFF I (2η κατηγορία). Τις δύο πρώτες χρονιές η ομάδα τερμάτισε στην 5η θέση και πέρυσι στην 4η θέση. Το 2015, ο σύλλογος ανέβηκε στην υψηλότερη κατηγορία του Λιθουανικού ποδοσφαίρου στην 1η κατηγορία.

Τον Μάρτιο του 2015, ο σύλλογος έκανε ντεμπούτο στην 1η κατηγορία σαν FK Spyris Kaunas νικώντας την FK Granitas Klaipeda με 2–1, αλλά πριν ολοκληρωθεί η χρονιά ο σύλλογος ανακοίνωσε την συνεργασία με την BC Zalgiris Kaunas και αποφάσισε να χρησιμοποιήσει το όνομα Zalgiris. The history of the team

The idea of football club Spyris was raised in Kaunas football school Tauras in 2004, when coaches of the school decided to give opportunity for school graduates to continue their football careers and join professional football club. For seven years since 2005 club played in Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) II league south zone (3rd division) tournament and for a single season in 2010 was renamed to Aisciai Kaunas. The team finished as runners-up that year.

In 2013 football club Spyris started to play in LFF I league (2nd division). In the first two seasons team have finished in the 5th place and in the last season - 4th place. In 2015 the club have entered the highest division of Lihuanian football - A league.

On March in 2015, the club debuted in the A League by defeating FK Granitas Klaipeda 2-1 as FK Spyris Kaunas, but before the season the club announced cooperation with BC Zalgiris Kaunas and plans of adapting the name of Zalgiris. In the beginning of 2016 the club was named as FC Kauno Zalgiris and became the football section of Lithuanian basketball powerhouse Zalgiris Kaunas.

In the strongest division of the Lithuania, the biggest achievement is fifth place in 2015 and 2018. In the same year the team reached the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) Cup semi-finals. In 2016 and 2017 team finished in 8th position, but remained in the highest division of Lithuanian football.

Το 2019, στον σύλλογο δόθηκε μια αναπάντεχη ευκαιρία να αντικαταστήσει μια άλλη ομάδα από την υψηλότερη κατηγορία της Λιθουανίας και για πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία του συλλόγου να συμμετάσχει στον προκριματικό γύρο του UEFA Europa League. Ο σύλλογος μπήκε στον πρώτο προκριματικό γύρο μόλις μια μέρα πριν την κλήρωση. Χωρίς συμμετοχή στον προκριματικό του UEFA Europa League φέτος, η FC Kauno Zalgiris είναι στην τέταρτη θέση στην A κατηγορία της Λιθουανίας και ήδη έχει φτάσει στους προημιτελικούς του κυπέλλου LFF.

In 2019, the club received an unexpected opportunity to replace the other team from Lithuanian highest division and for the very first time in club’s history to participate in the UEFA Europa League qualification tournament. Club have entered the first qualifying round just one day before the draw. Without participation in the UEFA Europa League qualification this year, FC Kauno Zalgiris is in the fourth position in the A league of Lithuania and already reached the quarterfinals in the LFF Cup tournament.

Ήταν το πεπρωμένο του Κάουνας να γίνει μια σημαντική, ιστορική και πολιτιστική πόλη στην Λιθουανία. Το 1408, τα δικαιώματα του Μαγδεμβούργου δόθηκαν στην πόλη του Κάουνας προς τιμήν του

Βυτάουτα του Μέγα. Στις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα, υπό την κυβέρνηση του πρώτου δημάρχου του, του Jonas Vileisis, το Κάουνας έγινε το σπίτι της Λιθουανικής Κυβέρνησης και πρωτεύουσα της χώρας, μια περίοδος που από πολλούς θεωρείται η χρυσή εποχή της πόλης. Limassol

Limassol is the second largest city of Cyprus with a population of approximately 180,000. It is one of six districts and covers an area of 34.87 km2. Located on the southern coast, Limassol stretches around westward to the Paphos district, bordering with the district of Larnaca on the east and with Nicosia on the north. In addition to the recognized popularity as a tourism destination, Limassol is also an administrative and business centre, a port, a resort, the centre of the wine industry and home to many archeological sites.

The vivacious city centre, seems to offer a journey through time where the University with its bustling young students aiming for a brighter future is just a few streets away from the old market and ancient castle which link us to the past. Gracefully blending old with new continues, as across the seafront one can appreciate the cosmopolitan side of Limassol with its contemporary business structures and modern apartment buildings while only several kilometers away one can find charming areas with cobblestone streets, quaint buildings with overhanging terraces under which there are a profusion of small shops, restaurants and cafes.

The city of Limassol has a rich history that goes back to around the 2nd century B.C. The city is situated between the ancient cities of Amathous to the east and Kourion to the west. Limassol was inhabited since the very ancient years and tombs discovered there date back to around the

2nd century B.C., while others date back to around the 8th and 4th centuries B.C. The few ancient finds that were discovered show that a small settlement existed there which did not manage to develop and flourish.

The city, in the 10th century, was known as Nemesos and the Byzantine emperor, Constantine Porphyrogenitus, refers to this city with this name. The history of the city is mainly known for its events in 1191 A.D., which marked the end of the Byzantine Rule in Cyprus. Limassol was then surrendered to the Frankish Empire of the Lusignan Kings of the medieval Cypriot kingdom. For about three centuries (1192-1489), Limassol experienced a remarkable period of prosperity. In 1489 A.D., the Queen of Cyprus, Ekaterini Cornaro, surrendered Cyprus to the city of Venice. This lasted until the Turkish Occupation took place in 1570 A.D. Then the British conquered Cyprus in 1878, while in 1960 significant changes followed the liberation of Cyprus, which contributed to the cultural and artistic life of the city. Schools, theatres, art galleries, music halls and football clubs were formed and played a significant role in the cultural life of Limassol.

The city of Limassol was developed much after the Turkish invasion of 1974. Luxurious hotels, restaurants and numerous entertainment clubs were built and thus the city soon became a significant touristic centre.

Φίλες και φίλοι του Απόλλωνα, Σας χαιρετώ και εύχομαι σε όλους καλή αγωνιστική περίοδο. Ως διοίκηση, μετά το τέλος της περασμένης αγωνιστικής περιόδου, είχαμε την υποχρέωση και αισθανόμασταν την ανάγκη να προβούμε σε σημαντική ενίσχυση της ομάδας με οποιοδήποτε κόστος. Στόχος είναι να δημιουργήσουμε και φέτος, μία ομάδα η οποία θα διεκδικήσει μέχρι τέλους τους στόχους της.

Η πίστη και η αφοσίωση που επιδεικνύει καθημερινά ο κόσμος του Απόλλωνα, μας γεμίζει με διάθεση και θέληση για ακόμη πιο σκληρή προσπάθεια. Αναμφίβολα, προτεραιότητα αυτή τη χρονική περίοδο έχουν οι ευρωπαϊκές μας υποχρεώσεις, με την ομάδα μας να στέκεται στο ύψος των περιστάσεων και να κάνει βήμα πρόκρισης στον πρώτο φετινό μας αγώνα στη Λιθουανία.

Η ευρωπαϊκή προοπτική μας δίνει το κίνητρο να δουλεύουμε σκληρά σε καθημερινή βάση, έτσι ώστε να εκπληρώσουμε το μεγάλο μας στόχο, που είναι η πρόκριση στους ομίλους του UEFA Europa League για ακόμη μια φορά.

I greet you and wish you a great season. After the end of the last season, the board felt the obligation to significantly strengthen the team at any cost. Our goal is to create a team, which will fight to achieve its goals till the end.

The devotion and the commitment shown daily by our fans, motivates us to work harder in achieving our goals. Undoubtedly, our current priority is the European matches where our team rose to the occasion and took the first step in the first leg in Lithuania in order to qualify to the next round. The European prospect motivates us to try hard on a daily basis, in order to reach our big goal, which is the qualification to the group stage of the UEFA Europa League once again.

ΤΟ ΑΠΟΛΥΤΟ ΣΤΙΣ ΠΡΟΚΡΙΣΕΙΣ!

Απόλλωνας έχει αναμετρηθεί και στο παρελθόν με ομάδες από τη Λιθουανία, διατηρώντας το απόλυτο στις προκρίσεις μετρώντας τέσσερις νίκες, δύο ισοπαλίες και μία ήττα σε επτά αγώνες.

Πρώτη φορά που αντιμετώπισε ομάδα από τη χώρα της Βαλτικής, ήταν το 1998 όταν επικράτησε της Εκράνας με 1-2 εκτός έδρας και εξήλθε 3-3 στη Λεμεσό.

Το 2015 ακόμη μία ομάδα από τη Λιθουανία βρέθηκε στο δρόμο μας. Η

Τρακάι για τον Β’ γύρο του UEFA Europa League, με την ομάδα μας να

επικρατεί με 4-0 στη Κύπρο και να φέρνει ισοπαλία 0-0 στη Λιθουανία.

Never failed to qualify!

Apollon has played against teams from Lithuania in the past, having qualified all the times with four victories, two draws and one defeat in seven matches.

The first time Apollon played against a team from the Baltic was in 1998 when it beat Ekrana with 1-2 away and drew 3-3 in Limassol. In 2015, we had to face another team from Lithuania for the second

Ακολουθεί η περίοδος 2018-19, αφού η ομάδα μας ξεκίνησε και πέρσι το ευρωπαϊκό της οδοιπορικό από την συγκεκριμένη χώρα. Στον εκτός έδρας αγώνα με την Στούμπρας ηττήθηκε με 1-0, ωστόσο ο Απόλλωνας ανάτρεψε το σκορ στην Κύπρο και προκρίθηκε μετά τη νίκη με 2-0 στη Λευκωσία.

Τέλος, στη φετινή χρονιά το ευρωπαϊκό ταξίδι είχε αρχή και πάλι από τη Λιθουανία, αφού κληρωθήκαμε με την Κάουνο Ζαλγκίρις, η οποία βρέθηκε στην κληρωτίδα της UEFA για πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία της. Η

ομάδα μας επικράτησε με 0-2 εκτός έδρας και απόψε καλείται να σφραγίσει την πρόκριση με μια δεύτερη νίκη, κάτι το οποίο θα διατηρήσει το απόλυτο στις προκρίσεις επί Λιθουανικών ομάδων.

Then it was in the season 2018-19, when our team started its European journey in the same country. In the away match against Stubras we were defeated 1-0, but Apollon came back in Cyprus and qualified after a 2-0 victory in Nicosia.

Finally, this year the European journey started again in Lithuania since we were drawn to play against Kauno Zalgiris, which was in the UEFA draw for the first time in its history. Με το «δεξί» ξεκίνησε τις επίσημες της υποχρεώσεις η ομάδα μας, αφού επικράτησε με 0-2 της Κάουνο Ζαλγκίρις στο Arvi Arena στη Λιθουανία για τον πρώτο αγώνα του Α’ προκριματικού γύρου του UEFA Europa League την περασμένη Πέμπτη (11/7).

Το σκορ άνοιξε ο Ιωάννης Πίττας στο 14’ με ένα υπέροχο σουτ εκτός περιοχής. Στη συνέχεια, ο αγώνας κινήθηκε σε αργό τέμπο, με την ομάδα μας ωστόσο να έχει τον έλεγχο του αγώνα και να διατηρεί την κατοχή της μπάλας σε μεγάλο ποσοστό.

Το 0-2 διαμόρφωσε ο Εμίλιο Ζελάγια στο 90’ αφού μετέτρεψε σε τέρμα το πέναλτι το οποίο κέρδισε ο ίδιος.

Το επίσημο ντεμπούτο τους με τα χρώματα της ομάδας μας πραγματοποίησαν πέντε ποδοσφαιριστές. Ως βασικοί ξεκίνησαν οι Μολ και Μπεσάτ ενώ στην επανάληψη αγωνίστηκαν οι Σάλαϊ, Γκακπέ και Αγκίρε.

We have taken the first step

Our team started the started season successfully by beating Kauno Zalgiris in Arvi Arena and producing a clean sheet win of 0-2 in Lithuania for the first leg of the First Qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League last Thursday (11/7).

Ioannis Pittas scored the first goal on the 14’ minute with a great shot outside the box. Then the match was played at a slower tempo, but our team was in control of the game and kept possession of the ball.

Emilio Zelaya scored the second goal on the 90’, after he converted a penalty kick which was also won by him.

Η παρουσία μου στον Απόλλωνα τα τελευταία χρόνια, μου έχει προσφέρει σημαντικές στιγμές στην καριέρα μου, καθώς από την πρώτη ημέρα έλευσης μου στην ομάδα, αυτή αγωνίζεται ανελλιπώς στη διοργάνωση του UEFA Europa League.

Απόψε, στην πρώτη εντός έδρας αναμέτρηση της χρονιάς με την Κάουνο Ζαλγκίρις, οφείλουμε να παρουσιαστούμε σοβαροί και να κερδίσουμε για δεύτερη φορά την αντίπαλό μας. Στόχος μου είναι να σκοράρω σε κάθε παιχνίδι το οποίο αγωνίζομαι για να βοηθώ την ομάδα να εκπληρώνει τους στόχους της. Οι εμπειρίες που έχουμε αποκομίσει όλα τα προηγούμενα χρόνια, μας έχουν δημιουργήσει μια ακόρεστη ανάγκη για περισσότερες επιτυχίες και συμμετοχές στις Ευρωπαϊκές διοργανώσεις.

Με τη δική σας παρουσία και στήριξη. η ομάδα μας μπορεί να πετύχει πολλά περισσότερα. Επιθυμία όλων στον σύλλογο, είναι να προκριθεί και φέτος η ομάδα μας στους ομίλους του UEFA Europa League. My presence in Apollon the recent years has offered a lot of important moments in my career as this team has been playing in the Europa League since the moment I came here.

Tonight, in the first home match of the season against Kauno Zalgiris, we owe to be focused and beat our opponent for the second time.

My aim is to score in each match I play and help my team fulfill its goals. The experiences I have gained all these years have created an insatiable need for more success and a hunger to participate in European tournaments.

With your presence and support our team can accomplish much more. Everyone’s wish in the club is to qualify to the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. From our side, we the football players, promise to give everything we have in order to win the match tonight and qualify to the next round with two victories.

Ο Απόλλωνας Λεμεσού αγωνίζεται για ακόμη μια χρονιά στις ευρωπαϊκές διοργανώσεις μακριά από τη Λεμεσό. Η ομάδα μας δήλωσε ως έδρα το Γήπεδο ΓΣΠ στην πρωτεύουσα Λευκωσία, το οποίο είναι το μεγαλύτερο και πιο σύγχρονο γήπεδο της Κύπρου.

Κτίστηκε το 1999, είναι κατηγορίας 4 και έχει χωρητικότητα 22.829 θέσεων. Οι διαστάσεις του γηπέδου είναι 105mX68m και ο φωτισμός του 1500 Lux.

Apollon Limassol is once again competing in European Competitions away from Limassol. Apollon stated as home groud GSP stadium, given that it is the most modern stadium in Cyprus.

Built in 1999, is a category 4 stadium and can seat up to 22.829 people. Its dimensions are 105mX68m and its flood lighting is 15000 Lux.
