Φίλες και φίλοι του Απόλλωνα, Σας χαιρετώ από ακόμη μια συλλεκτική έκδοση ενόψει της 102ης αναμέτρησης της ομάδας μας στις ευρωπαϊκές διοργανώσεις. Απόψε η ομάδα μας αντιμετωπίζει ένα μεγαθήριο της ποδοσφαιρικής Ευρώπης, ένα φημισμένο σύλλογο ο οποίος έχει πετύχει πολλά στις διοργανώσεις της UEFA.

Η κλήρωση μας έφερε να αντιμετωπίσουμε την ομάδα με τον υψηλότερο συντελεστή δυναμικότητας και καταφέραμε να την κοιτάξουμε στα μάτια μέσα στο Philips Stadium, ένα επιβλητικό στάδιο στο Αϊντχόβεν. Αποδείξαμε ότι μπορούμε να τους αντιμετωπίσουμε, ωστόσο τα λάθη σε αυτό το επίπεδο στοιχίζουν πολύ ακριβά.

Καταφέραμε ήδη πολλά αυτό το καλοκαίρι ξεπερνώντας τρία εμπόδια προς το δρόμο των Play-Off του UEFA Europa League. Σε αυτή τη φάση είχαμε την ατυχία να κληρωθούμε με την PSV. Ένα τεράστιο σύλλογο ο οποίος διαθέτει πολλαπλάσιο προϋπολογισμό σε σχέση με τη δική μας ομάδα.

Μπορεί τα χρήματα να μην παίζουν ποδόσφαιρο, ωστόσο κάνουν τη διαφορά. Δεν θα παραδοθούμε και δεν θα παρουσιαστούμε στην αναμέτρηση με κάτω τα χέρια. Οι ποδοσφαιριστές μας θα δώσουν ότι διαθέτουν και θα καταθέσουν και την ψυχή τους για να διεκδικήσουν ότι

Dear fans of Apollon,

I greet you from one more collective edition before the 102nd match of our team in European competitions. Today, our team is facing a great European football team; a famous club which has accomplished a lot in the UEFA competitions.

The draw made us face a team of the highest levels and we managed to look it in the eyes in Philips Stadium, an imposing stadium in Eindhoven. We proved that we can face them; however, the mistakes at this level cost a lot.

We have already managed to do a lot this summer, overcoming three obstacles before the Play-Off of the UEFA Europa League. At this stage we were unfortunate to draw against PSV.A massive club which boasts a much bigger budget compared to our team.

Money may not play football, however it can make a difference. We will not surrender and we will not give up without a fight. Our football players will give everything they have to compete for the qualification.

«Ξεκάθαρος ο στόχος»

Το αποτέλεσμα του πρώτου αγώνα περιορίζει κατά πολύ τις πιθανότητες μας για πρόκριση στους ομίλους. Γνωρίζαμε εξαρχής ποιον αντίπαλο είχαμε να αντιμετωπίσουμε και το επίπεδο αυτής της ομάδας. Φάνηκε στον πρώτο αγώνα ότι όλα τα λάθη πληρώνονται πολύ ακριβά σε αυτό το στάδιο της διοργάνωσης.

Είχαμε δύσκολη αποστολή και παρόλα αυτά, ο στόχος ήταν ξεκάθαρος από την πλευρά μας. Να προσπαθήσουμε να διεκδικήσουμε όσες πιθανότητες μας αναλογούσαν. Στο πρώτο ημίχρονο σταθήκαμε πάρα πολύ καλά και μπορούσαμε να προηγηθούμε. Δεν τα καταφέραμε και κάποια λάθη έφεραν ένα κακό αποτέλεσμα. Η εμφάνιση σε εκείνο το χρονικό σημείο δείχνει ότι μπορούμε να τους αντιμετωπίσουμε.

Η αλήθεια είναι πως το σκορ στην Ολλανδία δεν μας δίνει πολλά περιθώρια πρόκρισης, ωστόσο θα παλέψουμε όσο μπορούμε και θα παρουσιάσουμε διαφορετική εικόνα σε σχέση με αυτή που είχαμε την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα.

The result of the first leg limits our chances of qualifying to the group stage. We knew in the first place which team we had to face and its level. In the first match it became apparent that mistakes cost a lot at this stage of the competition.

We had a difficult task and despite that, the aim was clear for us; to try and compete for our chances. In the first half we played very well and had we been more careful we could have scored first. Eventually, we didn’t make it and some turnovers brought a bad result. Our performance at that point proves that we can face them.

The truth is that the result of the first leg in the Netherlands does not allow us to hope for qualification, however, we are going to give a fight and show a different performance compared to the one we had last week.

Όπως δεχθήκαμε τρία γκολ σε μικρό χρονικό διάστημα στον πρώτο αγώνα, κάτι αντίστοιχο μπορεί να γίνει κι από την πλευρά μας. Έχουμε στόχο και είναι ξεκάθαρος. Να κερδίσουμε και να παλέψουμε μέχρι το τελευταίο λεπτό. Όσο μας επιτρέπουν οι δυνάμεις μας, θα προσπαθήσουμε να ανατρέψουμε το σκορ του πρώτου αγώνα. Όπως και στον προηγούμενο γύρο, όταν πήραμε την εκτός έδρας νίκη στην Αυστρία και αντιμετωπίσαμε τον αγώνα στο ΓΣΠ σαν να ήταν 0-0, έτσι θα κάνουμε κι απόψε.

Μπορεί να μην τα καταφέρουμε, αλλά υποσχόμαστε τόσο εγώ όσο και οι ποδοσφαιριστές μου, ότι θα αγωνιστούμε με όλο το σθένος για να πετύχουμε τον στόχο μας. Αν δεν έρθει το αποτέλεσμα που θέλουμε, σας καλώ όπως παραμείνετε στις εξέδρες του σταδίου και να χειροκροτήσετε την προσπάθεια των ποδοσφαιριστών για όσα πέτυχαν μέχρι στιγμής αλλά και για να νιώσουν την στήριξή σας ενόψει του νέου πρωταθλήματος.

As we conceded three goals in a relatively short time, something similar can happen in favor of us. We have a goal and that is clear; to win and fight till the last moment. As far as our power allows us, we have to try and turn the score of the first leg over. As in the previous round, when we got the away from home victory in Austria and played in the match in GSP as the score of the first match was 0-0, that’s what we are going to do today.

We may not succeed, but we promise, both me and my players, that we will fight with all our powers to reach our goal. If the desired result doesn’t come, I would like you to remain in the stadium and applause the efforts of our players for everything they have managed to do so far but also to feel your support before the beginning of the new league.

ποδοσφαιρικός

σύλλογος του Eindhoven, PSV, ιδρύθηκε στις 31 Αυγούστου 1913, στο τέλος μιας μεγάλης αθλητικής γιορτής της Philips που σήμανε την επέτειο των 100 χρόνων από την Ολλανδική ανεξαρτησία. Το ποδοσφαιρικό τμήμα ήταν ένα από τα πολλά στον σύλλογο.

The Eindhoven Football Club PSV was founded on August 31st 1913, at the end of a big Philips sports party marking the 100th anniversary of Dutch independence. The football department was one of many in the club.

The current club’s foundation was laid three years before, on 12 December 1910, by a group of Philips employees. The Philips Elftal played its first match on 15 January the heart of the Philips village at the Frederiklaan, at exactly the same location where the Philips Stadion is still situated. Five-year-old Frits Philips, who was to become a PSV legend, kicked off the debut match against Hollandia from Woensel. The Philips Elftal joined the Philips Sport Vereniging on 22 October 1913, but kept its own name until the teams merged on 31 October the first few years, PSV was the club for only N.V. Philips’ Gloeilampenfabrieken employees until 1928, when people without Philips connections were also welcome.

Introduction professional football

PSV have competed in the Dutch league ever since 1914; they were promoted to the First Division in the space of ten years and have always been a top flight team since 1926. Professional football was introduced in the in 1955 and shortly afterwards PSV were the first Dutch club to take part in the Coupe Européenne, the predecessor of the current UEFA Champions League.

Successes

PSV have a strong history of success and an impressive list of honours. They clinched the Dutch title for the first time in 1929 and won their first title after the introduction of professional football in 1963. All together they were crowned champions twenty-three times and lifted the KNVB beker nine times. Also PSV won the national Super Cup ten times. PSV have been competing in European competitions ever since 1974. The first highlight was winning the 1978 UEFA Cup, with Willy van der Kuylen having a major impact. It was the prelude of a new period of a great many sporting successes. The eighties saw PSV’s stars claim yet more silverware: they clinched the Dutch title six times between 1986 and 1992 and the KNVB Beker three times in that period.

The golden year

The highlight of the club’s history is undoubtedly winning the European Cup I in the 1987/88 season. The final against Benfica took place in . The match ended 0-0 after extra time and went to a penalty shoot out. Goalkeeper Hans van Breukelen saved the decisive spot kick from full-back Antοnio Veloso and PSV had beaten Benfica 6-5 on penalties. PSV manager Guus Hiddink won the treble with the 1988 European Cup, the Dutch title and KNVB Beker to crown PSV’s most successful year ever.

Big stars

PSV earned worldwide recognition for their successes, which helped attract several big-name players. It all started with the signings of the Brazilian stars Romario and Ronaldo, who joined PSV as the scouting network proved to be a rewarding activity, followed by a great many international top players, including Cocu, Van Nistelrooy, Robben, Van Bommel, Alex, Gomes, Farfan, to mention just a few.

Limassol

Limassol is the second largest city of Cyprus with a population of approximately 180,000. It is one of six districts and covers an area of 34.87 km2. Located on the southern coast, Limassol stretches around westward to the Paphos district, bordering with the district of Larnaca on the east and with Nicosia on the north. In addition to the recognized popularity as a tourism destination, Limassol is also an administrative and business centre, a port, a resort, the centre of the wine industry and home to many archeological sites.

The vivacious city centre, seems to offer a journey through time where the University with its bustling young students aiming for a brighter future is just a few streets away from the old market and ancient castle which link us to the past. Gracefully blending old with new continues, as across the seafront one can appreciate the cosmopolitan side of Limassol with its contemporary business structures and modern apartment buildings while only several kilometers away one can find charming areas with cobblestone streets, quaint buildings with overhanging terraces under which there are a profusion of small shops, restaurants and cafes.

The city of Limassol has a rich history that goes back to around the 2nd century B.C. The city is situated between the ancient cities of Amathous to the east and Kourion to the west. Limassol was inhabited since the very ancient years and tombs discovered there date back to around the

2nd century B.C., while others date back to around the 8th and 4th centuries B.C. The few ancient finds that were discovered show that a small settlement existed there which did not manage to develop and flourish.

The city, in the 10th century, was known as Nemesos and the Byzantine emperor, Constantine Porphyrogenitus, refers to this city with this name. The history of the city is mainly known for its events in 1191 A.D., which marked the end of the Byzantine Rule in Cyprus. Limassol was then surrendered to the Frankish Empire of the Lusignan Kings of the medieval Cypriot kingdom. For about three centuries (1192-1489), Limassol experienced a remarkable period of prosperity. In 1489 A.D., the Queen of Cyprus, Ekaterini Cornaro, surrendered Cyprus to the city of Venice. This lasted until the Turkish Occupation took place in 1570 A.D. Then the British conquered Cyprus in 1878, while in 1960 significant changes followed the liberation of Cyprus, which contributed to the cultural and artistic life of the city. Schools, theatres, art galleries, music halls and football clubs were formed and played a significant role in the cultural life of Limassol.

The city of Limassol was developed much after the Turkish invasion of 1974. Luxurious hotels, restaurants and numerous entertainment clubs were built and thus the city soon became a significant touristic centre.

Ο Απόλλωνας δεν έχει αγωνιστεί στο παρελθόν με την PSV, ωστόσο υπάρχει προϊστορία με μία άλλη ομάδα από την Ολλανδία, τον θρυλικό Άγιαξ. Το 2001-02 η ομάδα μας κλήθηκε να αντιμετωπίσει τον Άγιαξ για τον Α’ γύρο του Κυπέλλου UEFA. Στους δύο αγώνες ο Απόλλωνας δέχθηκε δύο ήττες και αποκλείστηκε με συνολικό σκορ 5-0.

Στην Ολλανδία ηττηθήκαμε με 2-0 και στην Κύπρο με 0-3

Apollon has never faced PSV before; however, there is history against another team from the Netherlands, the legendary Ajax. In 2001-02 out team faced Άγιαξ in the 1st round of the Uefa cup. In the two matches Apollon was defeated and was eliminated with an overall score 5-0. In the Netherlands we lost 2-0 and in Cyprus 0-3.

ΑΔΙΚΟ ΚΑΙ ΑΤΥΧΟ ΑΠΟΤΕΛΕΣΜΑ.

Την ήττα με 3-0 δέχθηκε ο Απόλλωνας στο Philips Stadium στην αναμέτρηση με την PSV για τον πρώτο αγώνα της φάσης των Play-Off του UEFA Europa League.

Το πρώτο ημίχρονο πέρασε χωρίς πολλές φάσεις από τις δύο ομάδες και το σκορ 0-0 ήταν φυσιολογικό. Η ομάδα μας βρήκε κάποιες ευκαιρίες ωστόσο δεν κατάφερε να μετουσιώσει κάποιες σε γκολ.

Στο β’ μέρος οι Ολλανδοί εισήλθαν στον αγωνιστικό χώρο πιο δυναμικά και κατάφεραν από νωρίς να πετύχουν ένα γκολ.

Το σκορ στον αγώνα άνοιξε στο 47’ ο Ιχατάρεν μετά από μια ταχύτατη αντεπίθεση και ασίστ του Μαλέν. Το 2-0 διαμόρφωσε ο Γκακπό στο 56’

με φαλτσαριστό σουτ από πλάγια θέση με τον Μολ να πέφτει αλλά να μην μπορεί να αποκρούσει. Το τελικό σκορ έκανε στο 61’ ο Χάμφρις μετά από σέντρα του Μποσκαγλί και σε κενή εστία έκανε το 3-0.

Σε ένα τέταρτο περίπου, η Αϊντχόβεν πέτυχε τρία γκολ έχοντας 100% ευστοχία σε εκείνο το χρονικό διάστημα, παίρνοντας έτσι ισχυρό προβάδισμα ενόψει του επαναληπτικού.

/ Unlucky and unfair result

Apollon was defeated 3-0 in Philips Stadium in a match against PSV for the first leg of the Play-Off of UEFA Europa League.

In the first half there were not a lot of chances by both teams and the score 0-0 was something normal. Our team had some chances however, it didn’t manage to score any goals.

In the second half, the Dutch were more determined and they managed to score the first goal.

The deadlock was broken on the 47’by Ihattaren after a fast counter attack and an assist by Malen. The second goal was scored by Gakpo on the 56’ with a curved shot from the side despite the effort by Mall to save. The final score was made on the 61’by Dumfries and the assist was by Boscagli.

In almost a quarter, Eindhoven managed to score 3 goals and had 100% success during that time, gaining a strong advantage for the second leg.

ΠΕΝΤΕ ΝΙΚΕΣ ΚΑΙ ΜΙΑ ΗΤΤΑ

Ο Απόλλωνας έφτασε στα Play Off του UEFA Europa League 20192020 ξεπερνώντας κατά σειρά τα εμπόδια της Ζαλγκίρις Κάουνο της Σάμροκ Ρόβερς και της Αούστρια Βιέννης.

Στον πρώτο γύρο η Ζαλκίρις ξεπεράστηκε εύκολα με δύο διαδοχικές νίκες χωρίς να δεχθούμε τέρμα (0-2, 4-0). Στο 2ο Γύρο οι Ιρλανδοί της Σάμροκ, έβαλαν δύσκολα στην ομάδα μας αφού κέρδισαν με 2-1 στο Tallaght και ο αγώνας κρίθηκε στην ημίωρη παράταση του επαναληπτικού, αφού καταφέραμε να κερδίσουμε με το ίδιο αποτέλεσμα 2-1 στο ΓΣΠ. Στην παράταση η ομάδα πέτυχε και τρίτο γκολ και ήταν αυτό που χάρισε την πρόκριση στον Γ’ προκριματικό γύρο.

Στη συνέχεια, η κληρωτίδα μας έφερε αντιμέτωπους με την Αούστρια Βιέννης όπου με δύο νίκες και συνολικό σκορ 5-2, η ομάδα μας προκρίθηκε για πέμπτη φορά στην ιστορία της στα Play-Off της διοργάνωσης.

Η PSV βρέθηκε στο δρόμο μας για τους ομίλους του UEFA Europa League, την ομάδα με το μεγαλύτερο συντελεστή δυναμικότητας. Τον ισχυρότερο αντίπαλο ο οποίος θα μπορούσε να προκύψει από την κλήρωση.

Apollon reached the Play Off of UEFA Europa League 2019-2020 overcoming the obstacles of Zalgiris Kauno, Shamrock Rovers and Austria Vienna.

In the first round, we qualified over Zalgiris easily with two consecutive victories without conceding (0-2, 4-0). In the 2nd round, the Irish team Shamrock made our life difficult since they beat us 2-1 in Tallaght and the qualification was decided in extra time of the second leg since the score in GSP was again 2-1. In extra time our team scored a third goal and that gave us the qualification to the third qualification round. Then, the draw brought us against Austria Vienna, and with two victories and overall score 5-2, our team qualified for the fifth time in its history to the Play-Off of the competition.

PSV came our way before the group stage of the UEFA Europa League, a team with the highest level of difficulty. The toughest opponent we could face at that stage.

Να παλέψουμε και ότι βγεί...

Η πρώτη αναμέτρηση στην Ολλανδία ολοκληρώθηκε με την ομάδα μας να γνωρίζει την ήττα με 3-0. Ένα σκορ που δεν αντικατοπτρίζει την εικόνα του αγώνα, ωστόσο η ιστορία αυτό έγραψε.

Όπως ανέφερε και ο προπονητής μας, εμείς οι ποδοσφαιριστές πιστεύουμε στην ομάδα και ότι μπορούμε να καταφέρουμε να πετύχουμε σπουδαία πράγματα. Αν ανατρέψουμε το σκορ θα είναι ιστορικό γεγονός. Αν από την άλλη, δεν τα καταφέρουμε, να είστε σίγουροι ότι θα δώσουμε όλες μας τις δυνάμεις.

Θα προσπαθήσουμε μέχρι το τέλος του αγώνα να διεκδικήσουμε όσα περισσότερα μπορούμε. Είναι δύσκολο αλλά δείξαμε και στο πρώτο ημίχρονο στην Ολλανδία ότι μπορούμε να τους κοντράρουμε.

Βρίσκομαι στην ομάδα εδώ και λίγο καιρό ωστόσο κατάλαβα από την πρώτη μέρα που έχω έρθει και τι αντιπροσωπεύει αυτός ο σύλλογος. Οι επιτυχίες και οι προκρίσεις στους προηγούμενους γύρους δείχνουν την δυναμική της ομάδας.

Ο Απόλλωνας έχει την εμπειρία και την ικανότητα για να πετύχει τους στόχους του. Δύσκολο αλλά όχι ακατόρθωτο. Το σίγουρο είναι πως θα τα δώσουμε όλα!

The first leg in the Netherlands finished and our team lost 3-0. It is a result that does not reflect the performance of our team, but that went down to history.

As our coach stated, we, the football players believe in the team and that we can turn things over. If we manage to qualify it will be a historical event. On the other hand, if we don’t you have to be sure that we will have tried with all our strength.

We will try until the end of the match to do the best we can. It is going to be difficult but we showed in the first half in the Netherlands that we can face them.

I have been in the team for a while and the first day I got here I realized where I have come and what the club stands for. The successes and the qualifications in the previous rounds show the dynamics of our team.

Apollon has the experience and the ability to reach its goals. It is difficult but not impossible. The one thing that is for sure is that we are going to do the best we can!

ΓΗΠΕΔΟ ΓΣΠ

Ο Απόλλωνας Λεμεσού αγωνίζεται για ακόμη μια χρονιά στις ευρωπαϊκές διοργανώσεις μακριά από τη Λεμεσό. Η ομάδα μας δήλωσε ως έδρα το Γήπεδο ΓΣΠ στην πρωτεύουσα Λευκωσία, το οποίο είναι το μεγαλύτερο και πιο σύγχρονο γήπεδο της Κύπρου.

Κτίστηκε το 1999, είναι κατηγορίας 4 και έχει χωρητικότητα 22.829 θέσεων.

Οι διαστάσεις του γηπέδου είναι 105mX68m και ο φωτισμός του 1500 Lux.

Apollon Limassol is once again competing in European Competitions away from Limassol. Apollon stated as home groud GSP stadium, given that it is the most modern stadium in Cyprus.
