Good bye to the Captian Well the camptain of the NY Yankees says good bye, after playin since 1995 with the Yankees themoment came. Jeter one of the mayor league baseball that had an excelente career. When not playing he would dedicate to do non profit work to help the communty. Who will be the next one to hold the batan. But the real deal is that like Derek Jeter there wont be another one. I belive that retirement wont be the end, for Jeter since from coach to scout he will do a great job. Thanks Jeter for many years of excitement. Best Wishes,

The Captain New York Yankess # 2 Derek Jeter was born in Pequannock, New Jersey. On June 26,1974. In 1995, Derek Jeter realized his dream when at that time Yankees shortstop Tony Fernandez was put on the disabled list. Derek Jeter made his big league debut on May 29 1995, playing against the Seattle Mariners. That following year, in his first full season as a Major League Baseball player, he batted .314 with an awesome 10 home runs. The skilled shortstop also performed well in the infield and was able to help the Yankees win the World Series against the Atlanta Braves. Derek Jeter won the 1996 American League Rookie of the Year Award for his performance that season. Jeter developed into one of baseball’s top all-around players. He earned his first of 14 All-Star selections in 1998, a season that ended with the first of three straight world championships for the Bronx Bombers team. He led the majors in hits and was able to tallied a career highs in home runs and RBIs in 1999, and in the year 2000 he became the first player to be named the All-Star Game and World Series MVP in the same season. In July 2011, he became the 28th player in history to reach 3,000 career hits. Due to a lingering ankle injury, he was Limited to just 17 games in 2013, Jeter well known as the Captain announced he would be retiring after the 2014 season, his 20th in the majors. Although his numbers were well below his usual lofty standards, “The Captain” proved he could still rise to the occasion for big moments. In addition to his five world championships, Derek Jeter finished with an impressive .310 lifetime batting average, and his 3,465 hits ranking him sixth in big league history.
