THE CHURCH OF THE APOSTLES
MINISTRY GUIDE
Fall 2023
Belong to Jesus.
Belong Together.
WELCOME
Dear Friend,
Welcome to The Church of The Apostles! We are honored that you have visited us today, and it is our prayer that you have been blessed by uniting with us in worship. As you may have already sensed, this church is unique in its devotion to true, biblical worship. Back in 1985 when the Lord began to burden my heart for the birthing of a new congregation in this area, three things from the Word of God were clearly revealed to me in regard to worship:
Unhurried praise and adoration of our Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, Lord, and the Head of this church. This includes a regular time for breaking of bread at the Lord’s Table.
Prayer and intercession as an expression of our utter dependence on our heavenly Father through Jesus Christ in all things.
Bold proclamation that is relevant and instructive. Because we believe that the Bible is God’s self-revelation and therefore contains all the answers to all of man’s problems and needs, we preach it with all of its authority.
OUR FOUNDING RECTOR
Michael A. Youssef was born in Egypt in 1948. Dr. Youssef surrendered his life to the lordship of Jesus Christ at the age of 16. He was one of eight children with a family heritage rooted in the ancient New Testament church founded by the Apostle Mark.
Dr. Youssef immigrated to Australia as a young man where he studied at Moore Theological College in Sydney, was ordained as a minister, and married his wife, Elizabeth. He then earned a master’s degree in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in California and a doctorate in social anthropology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He became an American citizen in 1984.
Dr. Youssef teaches with a fresh perspective as a result of his background and innate comprehension of biblical culture. He has a rich understanding of the Bible, its original languages, and biblical lands. Because of this, his messages are sprinkled with descriptive explanations of many of Scripture’s subtleties and nuances.
In the pages that follow, you can learn more about specific ministries of our church, but most importantly, remember this: you are loved, and you belong at Apostles.
Again, on behalf of the leadership and members of this church, welcome to Apostles.
Our Ten Year Vision
At the beginning of 2021, Dr. Youssef shared a Ten-Year Vision to pass on the whole truth to the next generation. We encourage you to prayerfully join us during this new season of ministry.

As our founding Rector has already explained in his welcome note, Sunday morning worship at Apostles is an empowering time of praise, prayer, and proclamation of God’s Word.

WHO WE ARE
Our deeply-held beliefs and highest priorities are the fundamental forces that drive our actions.
The Church of The Apostles has never been just another church. God has guided and sustained this church through a vision that was made clear to the Rector even before the church began. We conclude from this that God has something unique in mind for this church body, and we operate our ministry accordingly.
So as you attend Apostles, what can you expect to experience in the life and ministry of this church?
There are at least five realities which drive the ministry of Apostles:
Lifting up Jesus at all times in everything we do.
We are here to lift up Jesus at all times in everything we do. The Bible says that Jesus came to the earth that He might have preeminence in all things and that includes The Church of The Apostles.
Searching for opportunities & ways to make the Gospel clear to every person.
We are constantly searching for opportunities and ways to make God’s awesome message of salvation clear to as many people as possible. We want to ensure that people have the chance to hear the message and see the heart of Jesus in a true light that is compelling and clear.
Striving to present every person complete in Christ.
We also strive to present every person complete in Christ. The highest purpose of life on earth is to make joyful progress in our spiritual formation, which is becoming like Jesus. Therefore, all of our ministry activity here at The Church of The Apostles converges on this focal point.
Conducting all ministry with excellence to the glory of God.
Apostles is a church that is busy with Holy Spirit-directed ministry activity that is executed with excellence. We firmly believe that if we cannot do ministry with excellence to the glory of God, we simply don’t do it.
Speaking the truth in love without compromise.
Finally, we speak the truth in love without compromise. Through the Bible, God reveals Himself as the fountain of truth and love. We declare His truth in love without compromise or apology.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is accomplished by unconditionally surrendering to and seeking the leadership of God the Father, through Jesus, His only begotten Son, and by the power of the Holy Spirit. We know that the greatest impact we as a church can make is to reach out to others. God has called us as a church to act as a lighthouse for those truly seeking the truth of the Gospel, not only in the city of Atlanta, but also throughout the nation and to the farthest corners of the world. Our members reach out to others locally and around the world through continued involvement in and support of missions and ministries.

Children’s Ministry
Sunday morning classes begin for the fall on September 10.
Our mission in Children’s Ministry is to intentionally reach out to children with the whole counsel of God – that they might know Him and love Him. Although children do not have the vocabulary to express it, they have hungry souls that yearn after God. So, we desire that every experience a child has in our church includes Godcentered programs and activities. We want to nurture faith in each child and believe that spiritual foundations can be laid even in the youngest child in our nursery.
Children will be promoted to their 20232024 school year classes on September 10, 2023. First-grade through fourth-grade children will have programs during the 9:00 a.m. hour and attend the 10:30 a.m. worship service with their families. Childcare, Bible stories, and “Covenant Keepers” drama presentations are available for preschool children during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

STUDENT TO STUDENT MINISTRY
The STS (Student-To-Student) ministry exists to see 5th-12th grade students grow in a knowledge of God and His Word (KNOW), establish godly friendships with staff, volunteers, and other students in community (BE KNOWN), and challenge students to proclaim and live out the gospel in their homes, schools, and communities (MAKE KNOWN). Through partnering with parents and families, creating intentional and meaningful small groups, and teaching God’s Word faithfully, the STS team seeks to encourage and help students grow in Christ.
Sunday Mornings
9:00–10:15 a.m.
Our vision for STS Sunday mornings is to be a place where students develop and mature in their faith. We desire to see students know Jesus and make Him known and to be equipped to live for Him at home, on campus, and in everyday life. On Sunday mornings, this is typically accomplished through small group discussions.
Midweek Gathering
Wednesdays, 6:00–7:15 p.m.
Through our Midweek Bible studies, our hope is that students will be equipped to love God more. Every week, during Midweek Gathering, large group and small group Bible studies are offered for every grade level.

COLLEGE FELLOWSHIP
We desire to be a place for college students to find encouragement, joy, rest, and strength in Jesus.
Apostles’ College Fellowship is a ministry for college and college-aged students. We believe that the deepest possible joy and satisfaction in life can be found exclusively in knowing, loving, and trusting Jesus Christ. We desire to be a place for college students to find encouragement, joy, rest, and strength in Jesus. Therefore, we want to find creative ways to embrace the full counsel of Scripture, as well as to be a community that provides an opportunity for discipleship. We meet on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. for Bible study and dinner in the STS Den.

Unpack complicated Biblical prophecy, know Jesus more intimately, and see the grander scope of God’s redemptive end-times plan as you dive into God’s Word.
Jesus gave His longest answer to this question, “Is the end near?” on the Mount of Olives. We will take a deep dive into the words of Matthew 24 and 25 in the sessions of this study guide companion to Dr. Youssef’s book ‘Is the End Near?’
Please join us as we begin our Tuesday mornings experiencing the joy of the Word of God together and building a warm fellowship with some wonderful women. Everyone is welcome.
The Book of Isaiah carries one of the greatest mysteries of the coming Messiah - that He would be both the suffering servant and the victorious King. This dual mission has created misunderstanding, confusion, and controversy throughout history.
In order read Isaiah’s prophecies correctly, we will let Scripture interpret Scripture by looking to their fulfillment in the words and life of the Messiah. As we study Isaiah 40-66, we will compare Isaiah’s prophecies and their specific fulfillments in the New Testament accounts of Jesus’ life, ministry, and His future coming as the victorious King in Revelation.
May God grant us to see new and rich blessings in our understanding of the Father’s magnificent plan throughout history for our redemption. Won’t you join us?
Anne Hayes Learn how to stand firm when tested - Are you prepared for suffering? Will trials and persecutions reveal your faith and bring glory to God? Listen to what Peter says to believers enduring tribulations.

Why is God’s Kingdom above all others? The answer lies in its King. The King of Kings left His throne in heaven to be born as a Man to die on the cross to save a wayward people. We will travel verse-byverse through Matthew to watch, hear, and learn from this King.
We can’t know the answer to “What would Jesus do?” unless we get to know Him through Bible study and prayer and seek to follow Him. Lord, help us to be true witnesses of the glory of Your gospel!

Join us as we study the book of Hebrews. We will contrast the Old and New Covenants, seeing Christ as preeminent above any Old Testament laws, priests, rituals, or sacrifices.
Guided by the writer of Hebrews, we will see that because of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, He is the perfect sacrifice and our High Priest, granting the believer unlimited access to God.
Throughout our study, we will use resources from John Macarthur and Nancy Guthrie to apply the ancient principles from Hebrews to our lives in the twenty-first century.
We will spend time in corporate worship and prayer each week before moving into study and group discussion of God’s word.
We invite you to join this lively and lovely meeting of women who strive to grow together in faith!

Connie Musselman“I just can’t be a mother today.” These words have been whispered to God in quiet desperation by mothers who love their children to the depths of their souls but struggle with motherhood’s difficulty. This fall, we will study the book, Desperate by Sally Clarkson. It is the story of one young mother’s trials and one experienced mentor’s priceless exhortations. It is not a book about despair, but rather life-giving encouragement, help, and answers to some of your wrenchingly honest questions. For nine weeks this fall, we will fill in the blanks on these three sections of the study: “The Dream Life... Altered, Getting Real About Mama-Hood, and The Redeeming.”
Mom to Mom is an intergenerational discipling ministry intended to come alongside mothers desiring to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word, their ability to apply God’s Word to their lives, and their ability to apply God’s Word in their parenting.
Each session will include 45 minutes of teaching and 45 minutes of small-group interaction with fellow moms that will encourage, challenge, and build lifelong relationships.

YOUNG FAMILIES MINISTRY
FAMILY CONNECTION CLASS
SUNDAYS | 9:00 A.M. | ROOM 620-623
YYoung Families ministry at Apostles focuses on those who are recently married to those whose children are in the precipice of their middle school years. Whether you are married, married with children, or a single parent, these years are often fast-paced.
Life can become overwhelming due to a plethora of activities that are common during this stage of life. It is important to be purposeful in your spiritual growth personally, in your marriage, and with your children during these critical years. Creating a strong biblical culture and community for your family is essential if you want to pass your faith off to the next generation.
We have two primary landing spots for young families at Apostles. One is in the Family Connection class, which meets at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings in room 620-623 for a time of teaching and sharing. This a great time to meet because there are also children’s classes planned at this time. Another important option is to connect with one of our small groups that meets during the week. Here you can join others in a solid, biblical community.
For more information about these opportunities to invest in the spiritual health of your family, please contact Rhonda Saduddin at rsaduddin@apostles.org.
I SINGLES LIFE
t is the desire of The Church of The Apostles Singles Ministry to provide an authentic place within the larger church for single adults to build supportive friendships and grow in the Gospel of grace. We strive to see those within our Singles community connect, grow, and serve together in the body of Christ.
Half the population of Atlanta is single, and The Church of the Apostles has been called to reach this community with the Gospel. Often the church can feel like a place only for those who are married or building their families, but the church is diverse with so many in different stages of life.
Whether you’re divorced, widowed, never been married, a single parent, or busy with your career, we have a place for you to grow spiritually within an authentic, grace-centered community. We hope that every Single person at Apostles will have their need for community met through our Singles ministry.
Whether you’re new to Apostles or just looking to connect with our Singles community, this gathering is for you. Join with other mid-singles ages 40+ to build friendships and grow in grace. We begin the morning with round table interaction along with some practical biblical teaching to help everyone understand how to live out the Gospel in our work, family, and friendships.

In Christ, we have all that we need for life and ministry. If you are looking to connect with other Christian women, we have an open invitation for you. In today’s world, it’s tough to be who God has called us to be. How do we balance the demands at work with responsibilities at home? How do we love our wives like Christ loves the Church?
God did not intend for you to discover these answers by yourself but to journey with other men who wrestle with the same issues. Our men’s small groups dive into Scripture, apply it to real life, and sharpen our focus on Christ.
For weekday offerings, contact Rhonda Saduddin at rsaduddin@apostles.org or 404-564-3152

Breakthrough Living Acts

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Juda and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” — Acts 1:8 (ESV)
We continue our spiritual journey through the New Testament in the chronological order in which the books were written. Since we completed Paul’s letters last year, we will now study Acts, Luke’s history of the early church. The book of Acts focuses on the power of the Holy Spirit as it empowered and guided the ministries of Peter, Paul, and others to expand the church beyond Jerusalem to the Gentiles. Despite resistance and persecution, these early apostles and saints persevered in living and sharing their faith. Their examples strengthen and encourage us today as we respond to God’s call on us to faithfully live for His Kingdom in a culture that is becoming increasingly hostile to the faith.
These interactive, discussion-oriented teachings are led by class members who are mature in the faith, who love God’s Word, and who align their daily walk with their heavenly calling.

Life can be fast, hectic, and sometimes overwhelming. When the pressure is on, it is vital to intentionally nurture your soul for the good of your home. To this end, plan on meeting up with the Family Connection class to strengthen the core of your life, marriage, and family. We will explore the rock-solid resources in God’s Word together while sharing with each other in community. Here, we will look at the Scripture to process how believing “Christ given for you as a gift through faith” impacts the reality of your daily life. Gather with others and learn how to develop healthy God-centered rhythms so that we can live at rest in Christ. Visit this class. Make it your weekly habit. You will be glad you did.

We will look at God’s last warnings to a society in the process of being judged and how the people responded to that message before the destruction of all they thought sacred and unchangeable.

Join us as we dig deeper into God’s Word and study the men God has used to advance His Kingdom and change the world. Let’s learn and encourage each other to follow God’s will and purpose for our lives as men of God to change today’s world. S.A.L.T.

Additionally, we have round table interaction and practical biblical teaching to help everyone understand how to live out the Gospel in our work, family, and friendships.

The Acts of the Apostles
Roger Hill Room 237 ABCD
In-Person Only
We continue our study in the Acts of the Apostles from last year, but it’s not necessary to have attended previously. The beauty of Scripture is how God uses it to speak to us where we are right now! Each individual lesson stands alone on its own merit and will be used mightily by the Holy Spirit to touch every life. First, we see how the writer of the Gospel of Luke, Dr. Luke, shared the 33 years of Jesus’ life. In Acts, we will see Dr. Luke’s continued account of the next 30 years (approximately), showing us the spread and growth of the early church. The book of Acts is an absolutely necessary bridge linking the gospels and the epistles. In this class, we will see the account of the early church and the validation of the Apostles and their epistles.

The Book of Hebrews
Andrew Bradley
Room 612-613
In-Person or Online
It is believed that Hebrews was written to Jewish converts between 64 AD and 70 AD. It was written to encourage them not to lapse under growing persecution against Christianity and mounting heresies from Judaizers. The author of Hebrews, though known to the original recipients of the book, is now lost to church history. Nevertheless, Hebrews is very pertinent for today, where there is growing persecution, and many are turning their backs on the faith. The author of Hebrews points to the superiority of Christ and encourages us to remain faithful. Join us as we study this God-inspired book that will encourage us in our faith just as it did the early Christians.
The Epistle of Ephesians

Room 611

We will continue our study of the “Life and Letters of Paul,” following the timeline as outlined in the Book of Acts. At this point in our study, Paul is on his 3rd missionary journey, has just left Ephesus, and is traveling in and around Macedonia. Here, he writes the letter to the Christians in Ephesus.
Join us as we discover the truths Paul writes to the church at Ephesus that were relevant to both the 1st Century believers and all who have followed. In addition to the truths and related applications, we will have the opportunity to study what Paul meant when he wrote that we are “in Christ” and all that means!

Christ’s Sermon on the Mount was directed to His disciples to think and act like Christians. Likewise, Christ’s Great Commission called his followers to make disciples and teach them to obey everything he had commanded. When Jesus rescues us by His grace from the kingdom of darkness and transfers us to His kingdom, He exhorts us to live our lives to give glory to God and to draw others to Christ. As we respond to His teaching, Jesus promises us that we will be like the wise man who built his house on the rock and will be able to withstand any storm without falling. As doers of God’s Word, we not only become more conformed to the image of His Son, but also receive blessings overflowing with blessings. Please join us for this exciting study as you strengthen your confidence and assurance of victory in Christ.

Solomon asked for wisdom instead of riches, and the Lord amply supplied. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Lord amply supplies us with wisdom in Christ. This semester we will look at the themes of the Book of Proverbs and how that wisdom, by the Spirit’s power, can change our hearts.
Was America established as a Christian nation, and does it remain one today? If the answer is “Yes,” then we need to determine how we should live as Christians. This class is based on the application of God’s Word to today’s culture. What are the challenges and the call on our lives? What is the role of revivals and awakenings? How can we, as Christians, stand up and make a difference? Will God bless us again, or is this the end times? Come join us for this challenging study!
The Gospel of Luke gives us a beautiful portrait of our compassionate Savior, Jesus Christ. The book covers the life of Jesus and all He began to do and teach until the day he was taken up to heaven. Luke’s portrayal of Jesus reveals the love and mercy of Christ to all people - no matter their station in life. Join us as we explore key insights we can share with everyone.

Grieving the loss of a loved one, whether recently or in the past, is one of the most emotionally wrenching experiences one can go through. GriefShare is a video and small group discussion course designed to assist, comfort and support individuals as they go through this most difficult time.
Living Waters is focused on admitting brokenness, digging deep to understand why we are broken, and finally accepting that the only way to wholeness is by discovering the healing power of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Through weekly times of worship, teaching, testimony, and small group prayer, our leaders walk with you as God restores broken areas of life so that you can “love well” as He intended. If any issue affects your significant relationships, your intimacy with God, or your sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, then Living Waters is for you!

If life has become unmanageable and you feel alone or overwhelmed, let me invite you to consider engaging the heart of the Father in the context of His church. We tend to struggle and suffer alone, but the Lord desires that we be in relationship with Him, ourselves, and others. We would like to help you grow spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and then offer support and teaching specific to Hope and Healing with the end goal of connecting you deeper into the life of the church as a “worker” of the gospel of peace. We welcome you to join us in the process as we all attempt to live into the fullness of God’s plan for our lives.
