C.O.S.T. CALLING OUT OF THE SONS TRAINING

A TRAINING PROGRAM FOR FUTURE PASTORS

Pastor, I Feel God’s Call to Be a Pastor… …are words that many pastors hear from ministers who begin to feel God’s call to shepherd a church. The minister feels the tension between his inner calling and his desire to be loyal to his Pastor. What follows can sometimes be murky and the reactions vary with each pastor. While some may give a “that’s good” nod, others may raise their eyebrows and wonder how true that call may be. Others might show indifference, while others fear they are “losing” a good helper, while still others may congratulate the minister and commit to a coaching relationship.

PASTOR, I FEEL GOD’S CALL TO BE A PASTOR…

A minister who feels the calling to pastor will face the following questions: • How do I answer God’s call? • Is there a process for me to follow? • How do I tell my Pastor? • Do I wait for a church to become available? • Do I start a new work? • Do I contact Bishops and offer myself as a pastoral candidate?

WHAT IS C.O.S.T.? “The Calling Out of the Sons Training” (C.O.S.T.) is a training and certification program for new pastors and also ministers who feel God’s calling to be pastors. The program connects these ministers to mentors who will both guide them through spiritual and practical readiness training, and also through an official certification process. Moving forward, no candidate will be approved for a potential pastoral position if he has not completed the C.O.S.T. program. The design of the C.O.S.T. program fills the long-standing need in our organization of having a process for ministers to follow as they answer God’s call and to also train them in the critical areas of being a pastor. The underlying purpose of C.O.S.T. is not to fill the academic training needs of pastors, but rather to provide them with practical training that will help them answer questions that begin with, “What should I do

when…?” “How do I go about…?” “What is the best way to handle…?” The C.O.S.T. sessions will be given by mentors who will open their hearts as spiritual fathers to impart wisdom and knowledge from their many years of pastoral experience. The spirit of this training program is to empower and equip pastors and future pastors to succeed and achieve even greater triumphs for God’s Kingdom than those that came before them. As churches multiply, as new works are planted, and as our beloved pastors who have faithfully served for many years are retiring or are passing on to be with the Lord, a new generation of Apostolic ministers needs to step up and take the pastors’ mantle. The C.O.S.T. program is meant to ensure the successful passing of this glorious mantle.
