Welcome to General electoral Convention 2014 People of God, Paz de Cristo. My family and I welcome you to our great General Electoral Convention. It is with great satisfaction that we can say: “Eben-ezer, thus far the Lord has helped us.” Eben-ezer was the name of a small village in Palestine, but the prophet Samuel on one occasion took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen and called its name Eben-ezer. From that moment on Eben-ezer adopted a new connotation. Before, it was a geographical location, now it becomes an event, or an occasion. The stone that the prophet places is now to commemorate not just a place, but also a battle and a victory. Now, it represents a new beginning, a change in the course of the children of God, and even more, it represents a pact of God’s help between Him and his people. After 18 intense months we arrive at this moment very joyful because God has never let go of our hand. On some occasions, we have wanted to let go of His, but his pact of help goes beyond our reactions. God is definitely with us, He has shown us all the time, and to the point where there is no doubt that He loves and desires that the Apostolic Assembly be a healthy and a prosperous church with a future. There is nothing that can destroy it if we are united and holding on to God’s hand. Today, more than ever we must look towards that future, a wonderful future, filled with new and extraordinary challenges.

The theme that is going to unite all of us during these days is: “Your Kingdom come, your will be done: Passion, Power and Purpose.” We cannot stay on the shore; we have to keep on rowing in the deep sea. We cannot stay in the past, not even in the present; we must project ourselves towards the future, to deeper and greater things. To achieve this, we need God to do his part, but we also need to do ours. His Kingdom and will is what we expect from Him. This is, his direction and divine action. There are definitely things that only God can do in order for us to obtain His blessing, but there are things that only we can do for Him to do them. His Kingdom and will, determine his part; passion, power and purpose determine ours. God is more than willing for His church to grow and crystallize its dreams, but the church needs to put a lot of passion into what it does. If there’s something that should characterize us, it should be the passion with which we do things for God and His Kingdom. This will imply that we change our attitude. Our attitude should reflect our faith in an almighty God who is capable of changing any situation. In this convention, we must change our attitude towards everything we do. We should come early to the services and willing to worship God like never before. During the sermons and conferences, we should support the orators like never before. During the business meetings, we should participate like never before. In the hallways and meeting places we should greet one another, especially the souls and visitors from other countries; we need to reflect the joy of the Lord in us like never before. Let’s not lower our guard, the enemy of our souls will try to ruin this spiritual activity, but let’s remember that greater is He that is in us, than He that is in the world. People of the Lord, Sara and I thank you for the great support and the respect that you have given us during these years. We could never repay you for all of your affection and understanding. God bless all of you and God bless the Apostolic Assembly. Fraternally,
